FM: Egypt's Gaza Reconstruction Plan Becomes an Arab-Islamic Initiative

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty has announced that Egypt's plan for the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza has been officially adopted as an Arab and Islamic initiative.
Speaking before the Foreign Relations Committee of the Egyptian Parliament, chaired by MP Karim Darwish, Abdelatty emphasized that the emergency Arab summit hosted by Egypt was a pivotal moment in securing international consensus on Gaza's reconstruction. He stated:
"The Egyptian plan for Gaza's reconstruction has been adopted as an Arab and Islamic plan. It has been officially endorsed by both the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which represents 57 countries."
Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's ongoing diplomatic efforts to secure further international backing for the initiative. Egypt is actively engaging with the European Union, international institutions in Geneva, and other global bodies to ensure widespread support and funding for Gaza's recovery.
He also revealed that a ministerial committee has been formed to tour different countries and promote the Arab-endorsed plan, aiming to convince world leaders of its importance in stabilizing Gaza and addressing the humanitarian crisis.
Egypt has played a central role in efforts to rebuild Gaza, using its diplomatic influence to mobilize both regional and international support. The recognition of its plan as an official Arab and Islamic initiative marks a significant step toward securing global commitment to Gaza's long-term rehabilitation.

CAIRO, June 28 (MENA) – Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates Minister Badr Abdelatty held political consultations on Saturday with Austria's Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger, with delegations from both countries in attendance. The talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations and addressing regional and international developments, said foreign ministry spokesperson Tamim Khallaf, pointing out that Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's desire to strengthen all aspects of bilateral ties and build on outcomes from recent high-level visits, including the Austrian chancellor's trip to Cairo in March 2024. He stressed the importance of expanding cooperation across various sectors—particularly economic, trade, and investment—by activating the joint committee and encouraging Austrian investments in Egypt. "We are actively working towards a ceasefire to stop the bloodshed of innocent Palestinians," Abdelatty told a joint press conference in Cairo with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger. His remarks came in response to a question from the Middle East News Agency (MENA) regarding US President Donald Trump's recent comments suggesting a potential ceasefire agreement in Gaza could be reached as early as this week.
