Neighbours recasts major character for finale as huge return is confirmed
As cast and crew gather at the cult Australian soap's studios in Nunawading, Victoria today to kickstart the last ever week of filming, the show has announced the return of Elle Robinson.
Elle, the daughter of original character Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), originally appeared between 2005 and 2009, played by actress Pippa Black.
The star reprised the role for guest stints in 2019 and 2022, the latter being for what was then intended to be the show's finale.
However, with less than 100 episodes left to air, Elise Jansen will step into her shoes for what has been billed as a 'dramatic storyline'.
This is Elise's third part in Neighbours, having appeared as Eden Hills student Alicia Berry in 2010, and as Erinsborough Hospital Doctor Erin Salisbury in 2012.
A statement on social media this morning reads: 'Elle Robinson returns!'
'Now played by Elise Jansen, Paul's daughter will soon be arriving in Ramsay Street, but what's brought her back after all this time?
'Elle's dramatic storyline is set to take us right up to our nail biting finale…'
Metro understands that Elle will play a key part in the community-based storyline that will bring faces past and present back together.
'Growing up, it was my favourite show,' Elise told the Sydney Morning Herald.
'And to think that now I've been able to be on it is quite extraordinary.'
Elle, who was born off-screen alongside siblings Cameron and Robert, initially arrived in Erinsborough to reunite with her estranged dad.
She soon began to lace Izzy Hoyland's (Natalie Bassingthwaighte) food with drugs, and shortly afterwards was involved in a plane crash that the residents boarded to Tasmania.
Later, Elle supported Paul throw a brain tumour diagnosis and landed herself a role as a journalist, progressing her career to a lucrative position at the New York Times.

It was from her new home that we last saw her, video calling the family to convince them that they should consider a move to the US.
Three characters confirmed not to be returning are Scott and Charlene Robinson (Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue) and Mike Young (Guy Pearce).
'I haven't picked up the phone to [them] again,' executive producer Jason Herbison told Back to the Bay. More Trending
'I've left them alone, but it will be very similar in tone. I think it's a very warm, hopeful tone, but it's also a little bit different.
'There are things about it that I think might remind people of the previous finale, but it's also very different.'
On Friday, cameras stopped rolling on Pin Oak Court, which doubles as the exterior of Ramsay Street.

Huge EastEnders drugs twist in early BBC iPlayer release as two favourites reel
This article contains spoilers for this week's first episode of EastEnders, which airs Wednesday at 7pm on BBC One or can be streamed now on iPlayer. Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) has started his drug dealing again… and two Walford residents have already clocked on. In the wake of Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) robbing from the family's businesses, Ravi knew that he had to act fast to recover the money. This was only intensified when his daughter Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) revealed a number of lavish requests for her upcoming birthday. He was infuriated to hear that brother Vinny (Shiv Jalota) had called the police to alert them to the situation. After all, getting the cops involved isn't really the Panesar way of doing things. With his desperation growing, Ravi headed to speak to old nemesis Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington), asking her to put him in touch with some of her old contacts. She warned him against messing with her associates – saying that if he put a foot out of line, it would only spark more trouble. Nic' also asserted that she wanted no part in the scheme. After securing a stash of narcotics in the boot of his car, Ravi was spooked by an arriving police officer. They were going to question Vinny about his report, but Ravi knew that he had to hide the vehicle from public sight. He quickly turned to Harry Mitchell (Elijah Holloway) for help, hoping that it being in The Arches under the guise of being in for repair. Harry initially assumed that Ravi must've been behind on payments, and therefore he'd be keeping it away from bailiffs. However, after spotting the police presence, he knew that there was something more sinister at play. Not wanting to question it, he allowed the car to be kept in the garage in exchange for £100 a day. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Who's leaving Coronation Street? 'Disaster struck when I went to see Oasis perform 16 years ago'
It was 16 years ago that Oasis dramatically split up – the biggest British band of their era shocked fans everywhere when they called it quits. Gallagher brothers Liam and Noel were due on stage at V Festival 2009 in Chelmsford when fans discovered that the band had unexpectedly pulled out as a result of Liam coming down with laryngitis. Oasis was over just a few days later. In the crowd at Chelmsford was 31-year-old Oasis enthusiast Tom, who was one of millions delighted when Liam and Noel patched things up in 2024 and announced a reunion tour. A string of live dates was announced for the summer of 2025, with the first of those coming on Friday, July 4—a 75,000-capacity sold-out show at Cardiff's Principality Stadium. Metro spoke to Borehamwood native Tom to see whether he forgives the Manchester Britpop band after all these years or if he still looks back in anger on the day they broke his heart. On the afternoon of Sunday, August 23, 2009, V Festival was proceeding just like the 13 successful previous years… but soon, disaster struck. Tom explained: 'I was incredibly excited. V Festival was my first ever festival. I went with my sister and my parents and had two of my favourite bands headlining—The Killers, then Oasis.' Still on a high from seeing the Mr. Brightside hitmakers the night before, Tom began Sunday eager for Oasis to cap the weekend off—only for the bad news to make its way to him just 10 minutes into the afternoon. 'It was devastating. Whispers went around. We even saw a guy draw an 'N' before the Oasis logo on his shirt, so it read NOASIS. Then the official message came through—Snow Patrol were now headliners instead. 'Everyone rushed to see Lady Gaga instead. It got so busy they had to close it off, so we didn't see her either—we were stuck with Snow Patrol.' Now, 16 years on, Tom's been lucky enough to land tickets not just for the Wembley Oasis show but for their homecoming show at Heaton Park as well, just 10 miles from their birthplace of Burnage. He can scarcely believe it. 'I always hoped [a reunion] would happen one day. But even now it still feels like a dream. In seven days, I'll be standing in a field with my mum, my sister, and my fiancée, crying my eyes out to Champagne Supernova.' Somebody who was lucky enough to catch the Importance of Being Idle chart-toppers was 31-year-old Craig, who saw one of their last-ever shows before the split. Driving down from his hometown of Perth, Scotland, Craig caught Oasis at Edinburgh's Murrayfield, paying just £44 to see them alongside Reverend and the Makers, Kasabian, and The Enemy. Those were the days. 'Seeing them in 2009 was absolutely incredible; the tickets were actually my 15th birthday present from my dad—they were an incredible surprise, and it really was an incredible gig. As a young 15-year-old kid, it was absolutely life-changing.' But did he know that Oasis was just 15 more gigs away from the very end? 'I didn't know it was nearly the end, [but] I remember Liam making a comment on-stage to the sound guys—he wasn't best pleased. There had been power issues at the Manchester show [the week before]. 'Looking back with the benefit of hindsight, it felt like they were done. The chemistry between Liam and Noel was off. It makes even more sense when you hear about them travelling separately.' Craig was hurt when Oasis called it quits just weeks after the Edinburgh show, but seeing offshoot bands like Liam's Beady Eye and Noel's High-Flying Birds live put a band-aid over the wound. In the 16 intervening years, Craig 'didn't think they'd ever play live together again, at least not in the UK'—but now he gets to pass Oasis on to the next generation in his family. More Trending 'My cousin, who's five years younger than me, when I was a teenager, I kept saying to him that Oasis are the greatest band ever. We've seen Liam and Noel solo, and it'll come full circle when we see Oasis next month.' Before Craig catches the Gallaghers at Murrayfield, Tom will get to live out his dream of finally seeing Oasis in the flesh, barring any last-minute fallouts or laryngitis issues. What will it mean to finally see them? '[The comeback shows] mean everything. I was born in 1994, so my mum and me waited 15 years to see them together. That 15-year wait has now become a 31-year wait. 'I still won't believe it until I see them walk on stage together at Heaton Park.' Got a story? I tried the new Race Across the World The Experience – fans of the BBC TV show will love it
WHO doesn't want to Race Across the World like they do in the TV series? To ditch the 9-5 to go on an epic quest and see incredible destinations along the way? But let's face facts, most of us can't take months out of our lives to do that. So I tried out the best next thing, the new Race Across the World The Experience - and fans of the show (just like me) will love it. 5 I recruited my friends to play Race Across the World The Experience Credit: Alice Penwill 5 We ventured around London solving puzzles and brain teasers Credit: Alice Penwill On one of the hottest weekends of the year, myself and a team of three willing friends, met at the game's starting point: London Liverpool Street. As a fan of the BBC series Race Across the World that sees contestants racing across multiple countries without using flights or smartphones for a huge cash prize, I was desperate to try out the UK version that launched this spring in both London and Manchester. Just like the series, the experience is a race against the clock to get from one checkpoint to the next. But unlike the show, you get there by solving lots of puzzles, which are sent through WhatsApp - which is very against the rules of the show, but essential for the experience. To begin, I simply typed 'ready' into my screen and despite having no idea what to expect, sent the message, and the experience began. The first stop was a cafe where I told the man behind the counter I was 'with the race', and he handed over very first task, which was one of the few physical puzzles. It was very maths-heavy, so I wasn't off to a great start and had to take a step back while my friends took over. The answer led us to the very first checkpoint, where the clock began to tick. There are three legs throughout, with options to take different routes along the way varying in complexity and cost. Along the way you have to solve riddles that will guide you to the checkpoint, and keep an eye out because the answers are simple but easy to miss, like a name on an engraving or plaque. I went on my first Disney cruise with classy champagne bars, watercoasters and West End-style shows 5 There are some physical puzzles around London too Credit: Alice Penwill WhatsApp is crucial as you text the answers throughout to confirm you're in the correct location and not aimlessly wandering about. If you don't know the area around Liverpool Street very well, the experience is still very doable as long as you pay attention to what you see. Just like in the TV series, you need 'money' to continue. Each route you choose takes cash out of your budget which initially is £30. To top this up you'll have to 'work', although there's no pulling pints in a London pub - instead, this is done is by solving tricky brain teasers. On the weekend we did the race, it happened to be one of the hottest weekends of the year but you do get breaks and plenty of time to enjoy them too. After reaching each checkpoint, the clock stops to give your team an optional break and at each is a venue where you get an exclusive discount off drinks and snacks. My team and I stopped in at one of the pubs to enjoy a cold drink and some much-needed shade. 5 All the routes cost money which you can top up by doing 'work' tasks Credit: Alice Penwill If you are a large group, you can be split into teams to play against each other with different start locations, but will end in the same place. If you choose to play as a whole team instead, you will be put against other teams with similar times to you. At each leg the game will update you on how you do in comparison, and it does a lot to stir the competitive spirit - by the end, my team and I had set ourselves a fast pace in order to come out on top. At the very end, we got our results and were pretty chuffed to find ourselves at the top of our leader board, and in the top 17 per cent of overall racers. The race can take up to three hours which doesn't include breaks. We completed the experience in just under two hours, but with our breaks, were out around three and a half. The website says that you can play the game multiple times, as there are route variations - but these aren't guaranteed to be different when you book. And one of the downsides is that the physical puzzles at each checkpoint also remain the same so you'll know the answer to those if you play more than once. But it is also running in Manchester so you can give the other experience a go in a different city. Tickets for Race Across the World The Experience are £50 per person. But the cost is reduced the more people you book, for example, a team of eight adults is £200, which works out as £25 each. The opening times are during Monday–Saturday from 9am to 7.30pm (last entry at 7.30pm) Sunday 9.30am to 4.30pm (last entry at 4.30pm). For more information and tickets go to: Other things Sun Travel has tried are the viral Dubai chocolate ice cream, and even travelling to America for Crumbl Cookies. My Top Tips for completing the Race Across the World The Experience Dress for the occasion Wear comfy shoes and bring some water and snacks too if you don't want to take advantage of the checkpoints. Consider playing work puzzles Play work puzzles throughout the game even if you have money in your budget- the more money you have at the end, the better, as this counts towards your result. Check your spelling You have to send answers to the puzzles through WhatsApp and when you do, double check the spelling. We were caught out by auto correct and receive a fault which affected our score. It's in the details Input everyone's phone number before the experience begins so the whole team can read the questions throughout the game. Lots have images and prompts, so if you want a good time, this is key. Running or walking? Speaking of, decide at the very start what your game-plan is, whether you want to win the race or take your time so everyone's on the same page.
