Kim Kardashian's couture runway debut celebrates fashion history

At Paris Fashion Week, Kim Kardashian made a stunning surprise appearance on the runway for Balenciaga's haute couture collection. This event marked the final show by Demna Gvasalia as the brand's creative director. This closed a decade-long chapter in Balenciaga's history. Kim Kardashian's walk was a heartfelt tribute to Demna's legacy and a nod to classic Hollywood glamour, resonating well beyond the fashion capitals to audiences worldwide, including South Africa. Kardashian, aged 44, captivated the crowd in an ivory satin midi slip dress, edged with delicate lace and featuring spaghetti straps, according to E News The dress echoed 1950s lingerie styles, evoking the timeless elegance of Elizabeth Taylor. Draped over her shoulders was a cream-coloured faux fur coat. This added an air of old Hollywood sophistication. Her look was completed with a statement diamond necklace and earrings loaned by jeweller Lorraine Schwartz, famously worn by Taylor herself. Kim Kardashian's hair was styled in a classic bob reminiscent of Hollywood's golden age, enhancing the vintage-inspired ensemble. Kris Jenner, Kim's mother, shared the significance on Instagram, highlighting the inspiration behind the look. 'Kim's outfit was a stunning tribute to Elizabeth Taylor.' The intimate setting featured models moving through rooms adorned with ivory walls and monochrome curtains. This showcased a decade of Demna's signature styles, from bold ballgowns to grungy leather. Kim Kardashian, a muse and loyal supporter of Demna since 2015, fit seamlessly into this narrative. The event attracted a star-studded audience, including Cardi B, Salma Hayek, Naomi Campbell, and Katy Perry. Kim Kardashian's presence, combined with the historical jewellery and the homage to Elizabeth Taylor, created a moment that transcended fashion. It touched on cultural heritage and glamour. Miss SA Mia Le Roux announces engagement: 'Yes to forever!'

Miss South Africa Mia Le Roux has announced her engagement to partner Luke Ten Oever. The beauty queen is the second winner, after Natasha Joubert, to get engaged during her reign. In previous years, winners have waited until their year in the spotlight is over to make significant life decisions like getting engaged, marrying, or even having a baby. In an Instagram post, Mia Le Roux announced the happy news of her engagement. The first differently abled Miss SA queen shared pictures of herself with her partner: ' I cannot wait to become your wife!' 'The immense love, patience, and sacrifice you have shown me this year has been nothing short of incredible. From the way you hold space for me with calm and steadiness in life's tough moments to the way we lose ourselves in laughter over the silliest things. My heart will choose you over and over again'. Mia le Roux added that the couple had been engaged for a while, and that they were now 'ready to share our joy with the world'. She added: 'We said yes to forever!' Last year, Natasha Joubert – Mia Le Roux's predecessor – became the first-ever Miss SA to become engaged during her year of reign. According to the competition, the occasion was above board. Spokesperson Janine Walker said: 'Since the current Miss South Africa Organisation has owned the title, title holders have been able to date. And once rules were changed to allow married women and mothers to enter, they have been allowed to be engaged during their reign.' Walker added that winners could also get married or even fall pregnant and have a baby. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 .
