Who Is Tauseef Badshah? The Man Who Brazenly Shot Dead Gangster In Bihar Hospital
Bihar Hospital Shooting: In one of the most chilling displays of gang violence, five armed people entered the Paras hospital in Bihar and shot dead a gangster, who was undergoing treatment and was released on parole. Tauseef Badshah, a rival gangster, led the shootout.
The target was Chandan Mishra, a resident of Buxar who was named in at least 24 criminal cases, including murder. A now-viral video from the hospital shows the attackers entering the lobby with guns before fleeing moments later after the shooting.
After the murder, Tauseef did not run out with the other accused but strutted out of the hospital, unfazed by the murder. He was the first to be detained by police, while raids were conducted at several locations to take the rest into custody. A total of six suspects from Patna and Buxar are in custody.
Who Is Tauseef Badshah?
Tauseef Badshah hails from Patna's Phulwari Sharif area, where his father owns a hardware business and his mother is a teacher. He attended Saint Karen's School, police sources told NDTV.
Tauseef was named in at least one case under the Arms Act and had become involved in contract killings. He began receiving payments to execute murders or assist in coordinating such operations, police said.
It is believed that Chandan Mishra's murder was rooted in an old rivalry with another gangster named Sheru. Chandan and Sheru were reportedly allies who parted ways in Bhagalpur jail, and the former began operating independently. Police have officially attributed the incident to a gang rivalry.
How Was The Attack Planned?
According to a report by India Today, police officials found that the gang that killed Chandan had conducted detailed groundwork and had gathered extensive knowledge about the hospital's layout. Badshah had frequently visited the facility when a close associate with undergoing treatment.
Before the shooting, the gunmen had gathered knowledge of Chandan's location and the lock of Room 209, where he was admitted, was already faulty and could not be secured from inside, making it easier for the shooters to enter.
The gunmen were initially stopped at the hospital's emergency gate by security personnel and were asked to provide gate passes. Since no one had the gate pass, they slipped in through the OPD and made their way to Room 209, and shot Chandan.
CCTV footage showed that while four gunmen fled from the room after the murder, Badshah continued to walk in a slow and nonchalant pace, apparently unfazed by the murder. The gunmen were seen celebrating the act before speeding away on their motorcycles.
Political Backlash
Union Minister and NDA ally Chirag Paswan targeted the Nitish Kumar-led BJP-JDU government on Thursday over the killing of a criminal in a Patna hospital, saying that Bihar's law and order situation has become a cause for concern. 'Murders are happening every day. The morale of criminals is sky-high. The strategy of the police and administration is beyond comprehension," he said.
Tejashwi Yadav, RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, posted on X: 'Criminals, protected by the government, shot at a patient admitted to a Patna hospital. Is anyone safe in Bihar? Did such an incident happen in Bihar before 2005, during the RJD's rule?"
Recent weeks have seen a string of murders in Bihar, claiming the lives of businessman Gopal Khemka, BJP leader Surendra Kewat, and lawyer Jitendra Mahato. With state polls approaching, the law and order situation has sparked heated debates between the Opposition RJD and the ruling JDU-BJP coalition.

Nuns' arrest: Pamplany seeks Centre's intervention
Kannur: Thalassery Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany on Friday criticized Centre over the arrest of two Keralite nuns — Sr Vandana Francis and Sr Preethi Mary — in Chhattisgarh. Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a protest meet in Thalassery demanding justice for the nuns, Pamplany said BJP-led Chhattisgarh govt's opposition to the nuns' bail application in NIA court was condemnable and suspicious. "(Union home minister) Amit Shah's words had given us relief. But his words weren't kept in the BJP-led state (Chhattisgarh). Central govt should intervene immediately," he demanded. Some laws like anti-conversion law have been passed by some states to attack persons illegally and send them to jail, Pamplany said. "Citing the law, minority communities are being harassed. Some terror outfits are behind this. Govt should be able to handle them," he said. "If we don't get justice, we will be forced to protest on the street. The Catholic community faced many sufferings earlier too and it always strengthened the community," he added. Venugopal visits nun's family Meanwhile, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal visited Sr Vandana Francis's family at Udayagiri in Kannur. If BJP leaders are sincere, they would have responded on the day of arrest itself, just like they react when they distribute cakes at houses of Christians," he said. He added that charges like human trafficking and conversion slapped on the nuns were baseless. "BJP leaders in Kerala are playing drama to attract the Christian community which always stood for secularism. The community will realise BJP's double standards" said Venugopal. Church heads now realise BJP's real character: Satheesan Opposition leader V D Satheesan said Church heads have now realised BJP's real character. He said that opposition warned during Christmas 2023 that wolves in sheep's clothing were arriving at bishop houses with cakes, referring to BJP's attempt to woo Christians. "Priests themselves now say that wolves in sheep's clothing came with cakes and that no one should come with cakes and crowns any more. Nationwide, Christians are being attacked. Nuns and priests cannot travel in their religious attire. We are making efforts to release the two imprisoned nuns," he said.

Communal tensions triggers in Pune's Yavat village, one detained
Communal tensions erupt after mob clashed over a social media post violence in the Yavat village of Maharashtra's Pune district on Friday (August 1, 2025). Pune Rural Police detained the person, who updated the status concerning an alleged rape incident in Madhya Pradesh. According to police, Yavat was peaceful after desecration of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue incident, in which two individuals were taken into custody. 'On Friday, the situation erupts over a WhatsApp status. We have taken one person in the custody and start with the process of filing a case,' Special Inspector General (IG) for Kolhapur, Sunil Phulari, adding Section 163 has been imposed and issued a warning to those trying to incite mobs. 'The stones were hurled on the glass windows of cars. Two car windows were damaged, one motorcycle was also torched, one bakery also damaged. One religious prayer place is also damaged to some extent. It was immediately controlled by the local Police officials,' said IG Phulari. The police deployed SRPF and additional police forces to maintain law and order. During the chaos, the two-wheelers and four-wheelers were vandalised. Police also shut down the weekly market in Yavat and did punchnamas (documentation) of damages caused in the incident. The situation is under control and peaceful. Almost all routine affairs are now normalised, informed police. IG Phulari calling the incident 'sudden' stated that strict action will be taken against the few local individuals and outsiders, who were involved. While speaking to media, SP Sandip Gill stated the suspects involved in the vandalism and stone-pelting are yet to be detained. An eyewitness Sameer Sayyed (39) underlined that after the villagers raised objection over the status, the people from both the community visited the accused house and questioned him why you posted it when things are sensitive. Mr. Sayyed, a local businessman, called the incident pre-planned, saying, Police just took him the custody, and, in the meanwhile, mob started coming from everywhere causing the violence. The viral post The post which went viral was a collage of a symbolic photo of a child and an image of police station from MP with red background. Referring to a collage clip mentioning - MP, 60-year-old priest raped two girls (5 and 6 years old) inside a temple- the suspect wrote- 'Ek aur pandit (priest), ab bolo baghvadhari (saffron-clad). Think, if this is the condition in the age of social media, then what would these people have been doing 50 years back!!' On July 26 night, an incident of desecration of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue caused tensions in Yavat. Another eyewitness said the public meeting of MLA Gopichand Padalkar is also one of the reasons for such provocation. On July 31, BJP MLA Gopichand Padalkar took a public meeting, wherein he spoke about desecration incident and called it a 'deliberate conspiracy' and urged police to conduct a 'combing operation' in Daund taluka to identify and deport the Bangladeshis or Rohingyas. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis confirmed lathi charge was used to pacify the tensions and asked, 'Is it necessary to make post after speeches? If someone is saying the speech is the reason, then it won't be tolerated. Some people are purposely putting status to ignite communal tensions. We will ensure the strict actions.' Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar confirmed that the status was about an incident related to Madhya Pradesh.

Malegaon 'conspiracy' files unravelled
The big focus of this episode of India First is on a retired Maharashtra ATS officer's allegations that he was directed to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in the 2008 Malegaon blast case. Retired Maharashtra ATS officer Mehboob Mujawar claimed that he was asked to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat in connection with the case. He alleged that the directive came from Investigating Officer Param Bir Singh, aimed to create the narrative of 'saffron terror' in India. The discussion highlights the acquittal of seven accused in the 2008 blast case and examines the misuse of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) in these investigations. It also explores claims of falsified records and shifts in investigative focus, including the Samjhauta Express blast probe, to create a 'Hindu terror' narrative. The video scrutinises the accountability of investigative agencies and the political debate surrounding the 'Hindu terror' bogey, with BJP accusing Congress of conspiracy and Congress countering with diversionary tactic claims.
