Anand Mahindra recently lauded the inspiring efforts of IAS officer Inderjit Singh, who currently serves as the Municipal Commissioner of Lucknow.
This commendation came after Singh, disheartened by Lucknow's low ranking in the Swachh Survekshan list, took matters into his own hands.
Ananda Mahindra, the chairman of Mahindra and Mahindra, jotted his thoughts about Lucknow, citing his personal connection with the city in an X (formerly Twitter) post on Monday.
'The city of Lucknow has always enjoyed a formidable reputation for its rich culture and cuisine. However, cleanliness was never part of that legacy. Common concerns included a shortage of dustbins, public spitting, and the scattering of waste during festivals,' he said on X.
He also shared his personal connection to the city, noting that the place held a special place in his heart as his mother grew up there and taught at an IT College before moving to Mumbai.
'So to hear about Lucknow becoming the third-ranked city in the Swachh Survekshan came as a very pleasant surprise, to put it mildly,' he wrote.
He credited IAS officer Inderjit Singh for putting efforts into the city's impressive transformation.
He concluded by calling Inderjit Singh his #MondayMotivation for being an agent of transformational change.
As described by Mahindra, Lucknow is known to have struggled with open waste dumping at major residential and commercial areas.
Thanks to Singh's efforts, Lucknow just jumped from Rank 41 to 3 in India's cleanest cities list. He is given the credit for turning garbage hills into green parks and waste into fuel.
Speaking of transformation under Singh, Mahindra also noted, 'It proves that when your purpose is clear and you have a sense of mission, no bureaucracy is insurmountable, no change is impossible, including changing mindsets.'
The comment section of the post is flooded with sentiments mirroring Mahindra's words.
An X user said, 'Lucknow's transformation is a testament to visionary leadership and dedicated public service. Salute to IAS Indrajeet Singh for proving that clean cities are not just dreams, but achievable missions. Indeed, purpose-driven change is unstoppable!' Netizens react to the post
Another user added a suggestion along with praising the man behind the change. 'Quite an achievement. But still a long way to go. Now the cleanliness & waste management has to be the top priority of all the cities.. infra can follow later.'

Remove Ads A federal appeals court on Friday revived part of a lawsuit accusing Elon Musk's X of becoming a haven for child exploitation. However, the court said the platform deserves broad immunity from claims over objectionable rejecting some claims, the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco said X, formerly Twitter, must face a claim it was negligent by failing to promptly report a video containing explicit images of two underage boys to the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).The case predated Musk's 2022 purchase of Twitter. A trial judge had dismissed the case in December 2023. X's lawyers did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Musk was not a plaintiff, John Doe 1, said he was 13 when he and a friend, John Doe 2, were lured on SnapChat into providing nude photos of themselves to someone John Doe 1 thought was a 16-year-old girl at his SnapChat user was actually a child pornography trafficker who blackmailed the plaintiffs into providing additional explicit photos. Appointment of new chief secretary likely to pave way for bureaucratic reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh

Senior IAS officer Shashi Prakash Goyal's appointment as the new Uttar Pradesh chief secretary on Thursday is likely to pave the way for a reshuffle in the state bureaucracy as well as in the Chief Minister's Office. Shashi Prakash Goyal assumed charge as the Uttar Pradesh chief secretary on July 31. (HT) Goyal was additional chief secretary in the CM's Office prior to his elevation to the state's top bureaucratic post. He also held charge of the civil aviation, estate, protocol departments and was additional resident commissioner. After Goyal took over as the chief secretary, the charge of the civil aviation, estate, protocol departments and additional resident commissioner has been given to Sanjay Prasad, principal secretary to the chief minister. Prasad also holds charge of the home and information departments. 'There will be a need for a full-time officer at the top level in the CM office to handle the daily affairs and to coordinate between various departments. Sanjay Prasad is considered a trusted officer of chief minister Yogi Adityanath. If he continues in the CM office, then another officer will be posted in the home department or there will be a new officer in the CM office at the senior level if Prasad continues in the home department,' a state government officer said. The chief secretary also holds charge of important posts like the infrastructure and industrial development commissioner, chairman of PICUP and CEO UPEIDA. Earlier, when Durga Shankar Mishra was the chief secretary, the then additional chief secretary Manoj Kumar Singh was the IIDC as he was tasked with organisation of the Global Investors Summit and Ground Breaking Ceremonies. It remains to be seen if Goyal continues as IIDC and CEO UPEIDA or another officer is given the charge of the two departments at a time when the state government has started preparing for the Ground Breaking Ceremony likely to be held in October- November. Additional chief secretary, finance, Deepak Kumar has charge of multiple departments, including agriculture production commissioner, secondary education and basic education. There is a buzz in the bureaucracy that Kumar may be relieved of the charge of some departments. Recently, chief minister Yogi Adityanath had reviewed the working of various departments and divisions. He had expressed displeasure over the working of officers heading various departments after public representatives complained to him. 'The non-performing officers and those who failed to comply with the government orders will be transferred,' a state government officer said. The transfer of district magistrates and divisional commissioners is also in the offing. On Monday (July 28), the state government transferred 23 IAS officers, including 10 district magistrates.
