Exclusive: Rhea Ripley to score an emphatic win over Iyo Sky at Evolution 2?

Time of India2 days ago
Iyo Sky is set to defend the Raw Women's Championship against Rhea Ripley in the main event of Evolution 2, slated to take place on July 13. Both women are A-List performers and have emerged as mainstays of the division in recent times. This has made it difficult for fans to predict the winner. In an exclusive interaction with Indiatimes, a veteran writer weighed in on the possible outcome of the match and chose a clear winner.
Vince Russo feels Rhea Ripley will win at Evolution 2, here's why
Vince Russo has been an integral part of the professional wrestling business since the 1990s. He has worked with leading promotions such as WWE, TNA, the now defunct WCW. In an interview with Indiatimes, he said that Rhea Ripley is likely to capture the title at Evolution 2. He pointed out that 'The Genius of the Sky' went over last time, making her opponent the clear favourite.
'They just keep going back and forth with Rhea and Iyo with no story. So I would assume it's Rhea's time to go over,' said Russo.
Iyo Sky beat Rhea Ripley on Raw ahead of WrestleMania 41 to capture the title. She then retained it when a rematch was thrown out by the 'Guest Referee' Bianca Belair, Iyo eventually held on to the belt at 'The Show of Shows, in April, ' when she pinned Bianca Belair to win a triple-threat match that also included 'Mami'.
Iyo then chose Rhea as her opponent for Evolution 2 on Raw. Interestingly, the two have tremendous respect for each other. Not too long ago, they teamed up to defeat Roxanne Perez and Giulia on Raw.
About Evolution 2
Evolution 2 is a women-only Premium Live Event that brings together the biggest names from the WWE. Besides Iyo-Rhea, it also features several high-profile encounters. Tiffany Stratton will be defending the SmackDown Women's Championship against Trish Stratus. The event will also see Becky Lynch defending the Intercontinental Championship against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria in a triple-threat match.
Raquel and Roxanne Perez (substituting for an injured Liv Morgan) will put the tag titles on the line against Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss, Sol Ruca and Zaria and The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane). Naomi and Jade Cargill will be taking on each other in a No-Holds-Barred match at the PLE, which comes just a few months after their intense encounter at WrestleMania 41.
Additionally, the event will host a battle royale. The winner of this match will get a World Championship shot at Clash in Paris. NXT Champion Jacy Jayne will also be defending her title against Jordynne Grace.
Evolution 2 will stream on Peacock this Sunday.

Mariners' Star Cal Raleigh Earns Championship Belt from Former Undisputed WWE Champion After Derby Victory

Cal Raleigh (Image Source: calraleigh_/Instagram) Cal Raleigh was on fire Tuesday in the 2025 MLB Home Run Derby at Truist Park in Atlanta, becoming the first catcher in history ever, and then the first switch-hitter to take the top prize. Famed for his monster power and regular contribution of big flies, Raleigh not only won the honour but a one-of-a-kind prize, a custom WWE Championship belt awarded by the former Undisputed WWE Champion himself, Cody Rhodes. Cody Rhodes surprises the crowd with a WWE moment Things got electric when "The American Nightmare" Cody Rhodes showed up after Raleigh's win. And in his iconic WWE gear, Rhodes walked out onto the field to give Raleigh a custom WWE Championship belt designed with MLB and Home Run Derby logos. It was an electrifying moment that combined the worlds of baseball and pro wrestling, getting the fans in the stadium and at home buzzing. The crossover celebration emphasized MLB's plans to combine sports and entertainment over All-Star Weekend. Raleigh, clearly choked up and thrilled, raised the belt high above his head as the cheers rang out around the ballpark. As if the night weren't already legendary, the novelty of the presentation (easily a highlight of the All-Star festivities instantly) also made the night memorable. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Warren Buffett Says These 5 Books Are a Must-Read for 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Cal Raleigh's historic path to the championship Cal Raleigh saw the Derby run play out with drama, power, and precision. With 38 home runs, the Mariners slugger entered the event with the most homers in MLB at the All-Star break and proved the reason why he is among the most feared hitters in the game today. Raleigh narrowly edged past Brent Rooker in round one, deadlocked in the home run tiebreaker. The longest homer of the round got Raleigh ahead, but it was narrowly, just 0.08 feet farther than Rooker's best shot. He eased through the semifinals, taking out Oneil Cruz with 19 homers, then finished off the night with 18 homers in the finals to outslug 22-year-old Tampa Bay upstart Junior Caminero, who ended with 15. By hitting an impressive total of 54 home runs in all rounds combined, Raleigh not only took home the $1 million prize but also secured a spot in Derby history. The real family atmosphere continued, with Raleigh's father pitching to him and his brother caging in the earlier rounds — a heart-warming backdrop to all the power of the night. Roman Reigns' WWE return draws millions as WWE pulls off a startling Raw edition

Roman Reigsn returns to the lore before SummerSlam: Image via X The WWE Universe finally got what they had waited for so long. The throne without its king looks like a grotesque ground. Roman Reigns, 40, is making a rampant comeback to the ring on the July 14th edition of WWE Raw. The Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, was left stunned when the Big Dog quickly cropped up right after CM Punk secured his title shot at SummerSlam against Gunther following a grueling match. But it's not just the overwhelming ovation that counts; it's big and beyond. WWE's official YouTube channel statistics show Reigns literally skyrocketed the red brand's visibility in hours. Needle mover for a reason, for a vision! Roman Reigns' return segment crosses the milestone on YouTube Before Punk could even process the joy of gaining the upper hand over Bron Breaker, Bronson Reed tagged in and launched a seething attack alongside Bron. Jey Uso rushed to the spot to save, but couldn't. And just that very moment, the iconic theme music flabbergasted the crowd, sending an ever-familiar call for acknowledgement! The Tribal Chief took over and helped his cousin and CM Punk to their feet. It was way more than the WWE buffs expected. Rumors kept swirling over the lore, anticipating that Reigns might be back at SummerSlam with a twisting storyline. But Triple H is a visionary. Never doubt that. Relaunching the stalwart to his throne even before the speculated time might allow the Hunter and team to pitch the angle for the August PLE even better. Come on, it's Roman Reigns, the Samoan legend born to rule. He doesn't need a PLE to pull the crowd. Just look at the views toggle bar of WWE YouTube telecast of the episode tonight. It was over 423K in just two hours. Insane! Currently, it's 1.8 million and counting. Numbers speak louder than words. It, indeed, does. Roman Reigns sends a chilling message right after the dramatic return But the question that follows is, what's next? With SummerSlam just weeks away at MetLife Stadium, it's no question that WWE creative will keep their best foot forward, but it's still too early to jump into the guess game. But no matter how and when, the Head of the Table made it clear that it's just the trailer, and he will have the entire picture left yet to stun the foes. Reigns' Superman punches, spears, and those flawless signature moves looked like a movie, soothing the eyes of the fans after months. The king promised, taking to his social media, that there are '' More receipts to come! Good to be back.'' He's clearly not done! The OCT1 is out for blood. But if he has Rollins on his list (surely he has), a rigorous SummerSlam bout looks uncertain. Seth Rollins' knee injury is still under check-up. A lot will really depend on how Rollins is doing health-wise. But regardless, the Tribal Chief knows no mercy, sooner or later. via Netflix: Roman Reigns Roman Reigns made his emphatic return to WWE , on this recent Monday Night RAW since his last appearance at the RAW after WrestleMania 41. Upon his return, he took out Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed while also saving Jey Uso and CM Punk. On this attack from Reigns, Reed had something to say, infact a creative take on his retaliation for Roman's attack. Bronson Reed vows to destroy Roman Reigns with a 'Tsunami' Bronson Reed faced the wrath of Reigns by taking a superman punch, samoan drop, and a spear. In that duration of a minute, the Auszilla got the taste of Reigns' destruction and was taken aback to make any counterattacks. However, the only thing he could do next, until he got his hands on the OTC, was to brutalize him on social media. — BRONSONISHERE (@BRONSONISHERE) The OTC IS BACK | Roman Reigns makes epic return: Raw, July 14, 2025 Reed took on X to recall everyone starting with, "Just remember". Then he added a rather creative thought of, "Tsunamis destroy islands" referring, one to the natural calamity that demolishes the land mass. Second, his finisher, 'Tsunami' meant to take down Reigns' 'Island' of Relevancy'. This way, Bronson threatened Roman and looks forward to get his hands on the former Bloodline leader. What Rikishi had to say on Roman Reigns' return? The Samoan Stinker, Rikishi, has been the loyal Bloodline supporter for the longest time. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like An engineer reveals: One simple trick to get internet without a subscription Techno Mag Learn More Undo Apart from backing his sons, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso and Solo Sikoa, Rikishi has always been vocal about his feelings for their biggest Samoan member, Roman Reigns. On this RAW , when the former Undisputed WWE Champion came back, Rikishi had to say out loud that indeed Reigns is the GOAT. He took over Instagram story and also in the comments of WWE post, to praise the OTC. On his story, he shared the WWE's official account's reel of Reigns' return. Adding that, he wrote, "Business just picked" then tagging him to write ahead, "GOAT" which simply means 'Greatest of all time'. Rikishi's Instagram post comment says having him back just translates to bigger business now. This now puts Reigns in the contention for either facing Bron Breakker at SummerSlam or tagging with Jey Uso to face the duo of Breakker and Bronson Reed. The last time he was seen running down the ramp on RAW was to take out Seth Rollins and the betraying Paul Heyman. However then he was speared by Bron and was written off for three months. Now, his return was the right time to avenge that attack and his WrestleMania loss too around this hot period of SummerSlam! Also read: Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4.
