Women brawl over ‘saved' parking spot on NYC street, as locals fume over space hoarding: video

'They were trying to literally rip my hair out of my scalp,' said McPherson, 21, a Pace University student who was renting in the neighborhood, where hoarding on-street spaces has locals fuming.

The battle broke out after McPherson tried to park in a spot Dumitru and Starman were guarding outside 18-28 Putnam Ave., cops said. An unidentified man also joined in on the gang-up on McPherson, but apparently high-tailed it out of the area before police arrived.

'The guy, he ended up coming up behind me while I was trying to park and put a trash can to prevent me from parking,' McPherson said.
When McPherson couldn't find another spot on the block, she came back to tell the family they couldn't guard parking spots, she said. That's when the man went 'ballistic' and the mother-daughter pair flung racist language at McPherson, who is black.

'You're a monkey, bitch,' Dumitru is heard shouting in the video.
McPherson responds, 'You're an immigrant, bitch.'
Starman then yells 'You're a f–king slave bitch. You're a slave for what it's worth,' before lunging at her, and the fight ensues.
'I definitely did fear for my life,' McPherson said.

Starman and Dumitru were later arrested and charged with first degree assault and second degree harassment, police said.
After the arrests, McPherson eventually did get to park in the spot she fought for.
But she said she's been on edge ever since and has only left the house with a friend or family-member. She plans to move out of the neighborhood this weekend.
'Jumping one person for a parking space is really not right,' McPherson said.
Parking space hoarding has sparked tensions in the area, with the family seen in the brawl notorious offenders who claim public spaces as their own with traffic cones and other items, locals told The Post.
'You know, I could move the garbage cans and park, but then they could slash my car or something,' said Yesenia Delgado, 33, who has lived in the neighborhood for 14 years.

'Someone is always there, holding the spot,' George Carrasquillo, 53, who lives across the street from the spot.
Carrasquillo often drives to work in Manhattan, but has to park two blocks away from his home because he can't find a spot.
'I have to take my kick scooter with me to drop the car off, I find parking, then come home to my apartment, and have to see all this, their beautiful spot saved. Isn't this public parking?' Carrasquillo said.

Starman and Dumitru have hired a lawyer and plan to fight the charges in court in September.
'You can't claim to be a victim if you instigate an altercation with threatening behavior and vile and hurtful language,' said Mahmoud Rabah, an attorney for the pair.
Rabah says the mother and daughter duo have received death threats since the video was posted.

A waitress at an Italian restaurant apparently humiliated a customer in front of a full dining room, prompting him to take his tip back, according to an online forum. The 32-year-old man shared the story on Reddit, asking if he was wrong about retrieving the cash after a dinner date went sideways. "This occurred a few nights ago, and I just can't believe it happened the way it did," he wrote in his post last week. He and his 29-year-old girlfriend had dined at the restaurant before, he said. It wasn't fancy but was good for a "relaxed evening" over a glass of wine, he said. But on this particular night, the service was poor, he said. The waitress allegedly "lost" his drink twice, brought him and his girlfriend the wrong appetizer and "vanished for what seemed like an eternity" when they wanted to order dessert. He paid and left a 10% cash tip, which he felt was "reasonable given the circumstances," he said. "We were just standing up to leave when [the waitress] came over, took the cash and said, 'Seriously? This is it?'" he continued. "She had said it audibly. A few people at some nearby tables turned around and stared." He said he was dumbfounded. "Then she muttered, 'Whatever, cheapskates.'" Five Western Mass. teens arrested after stolen car crashes with two others on I-91
Five Western Massachusetts teens were arrested Saturday after a car chase between police and a stolen car ended with the stolen car crashing with two others on I-91 in West Springfield, Holyoke police announced Monday. The car chase began after a Holyoke police sergeant noticed a car that had been reported stolen driving around the city with five people inside, Holyoke police said in a press release. The sergeant tried to pull over the stolen car as it went into the Holyoke Mall parking lot, but the driver accelerated and crashed through two wooden barriers around a construction zone. The stolen car continued onto I-91 south and tried to get off at an exit, but it collided with another vehicle, which led to a third vehicle being struck, police said. All five people in the stolen car ran into the woods following the crash. The sergeant checked on the people in the other two vehicles and then began searching for the suspects, police said. West Springfield police and Massachusetts State Police troopers and the State Police Air Wing responded to the scene to aid in the search. West Springfield police located all five of the suspects: an 18-year-old Chicopee man, a male 17-year-old from Holyoke, a 15-year-old Springfield girl, a 14-year-old Pittsfield girl and a 24-year-old Springfield woman, police said. They arrested the 17-year-old, 15-year-old and 14-year-old, who declined a medical evaluation, and the 18-year-old and 24-year-old were taken to Baystate Medical Center with injuries but are being charged with receiving a stolen vehicle. The investigation into the incident indicated that the 17-year-old was driving the stolen car during the car chase, police said. Holyoke police did not identify any of the suspects.
