Women brawl over ‘saved' parking spot on NYC street, as locals fume over space hoarding: video

An unhinged mom and her foulmouthed daughter savagely attacked a female driver for trying to park in a spot they were 'saving' in a caught-on-video brawl in Queens.
Andreea Dumitru, 45, and her daughter Sabrina Starman, 21, are seen in a viral video posted to Reddit unloading on victim Jada McPherson on a Ridgewood street Monday — pulling her hair, flinging racial slurs and unleashing a flurry of punches as she tries to fend them off.
'They were trying to literally rip my hair out of my scalp,' said McPherson, 21, a Pace University student who was renting in the neighborhood, where hoarding on-street spaces has locals fuming.

The battle broke out after McPherson tried to park in a spot Dumitru and Starman were guarding outside 18-28 Putnam Ave., cops said. An unidentified man also joined in on the gang-up on McPherson, but apparently high-tailed it out of the area before police arrived.

'The guy, he ended up coming up behind me while I was trying to park and put a trash can to prevent me from parking,' McPherson said.
When McPherson couldn't find another spot on the block, she came back to tell the family they couldn't guard parking spots, she said. That's when the man went 'ballistic' and the mother-daughter pair flung racist language at McPherson, who is black.

'You're a monkey, bitch,' Dumitru is heard shouting in the video.
McPherson responds, 'You're an immigrant, bitch.'
Starman then yells 'You're a f–king slave bitch. You're a slave for what it's worth,' before lunging at her, and the fight ensues.
'I definitely did fear for my life,' McPherson said.

Starman and Dumitru were later arrested and charged with first degree assault and second degree harassment, police said.
After the arrests, McPherson eventually did get to park in the spot she fought for.
But she said she's been on edge ever since and has only left the house with a friend or family-member. She plans to move out of the neighborhood this weekend.
'Jumping one person for a parking space is really not right,' McPherson said.
Parking space hoarding has sparked tensions in the area, with the family seen in the brawl notorious offenders who claim public spaces as their own with traffic cones and other items, locals told The Post.
'You know, I could move the garbage cans and park, but then they could slash my car or something,' said Yesenia Delgado, 33, who has lived in the neighborhood for 14 years.

'Someone is always there, holding the spot,' George Carrasquillo, 53, who lives across the street from the spot.
Carrasquillo often drives to work in Manhattan, but has to park two blocks away from his home because he can't find a spot.
'I have to take my kick scooter with me to drop the car off, I find parking, then come home to my apartment, and have to see all this, their beautiful spot saved. Isn't this public parking?' Carrasquillo said.

Starman and Dumitru have hired a lawyer and plan to fight the charges in court in September.
'You can't claim to be a victim if you instigate an altercation with threatening behavior and vile and hurtful language,' said Mahmoud Rabah, an attorney for the pair.
Rabah says the mother and daughter duo have received death threats since the video was posted.

Woman Not Sure What to Do After Cop Ex Cheats on Her, Then Puts Her Down as a Reference

A woman has taken to the internet for advice after her ex-boyfriend put her down as a reference on a job application -- despite the very same man having cheated on her with a co-worker. The OP (a.k.a "original poster") shared her story to Reddit's Relationship Advice forum, saying that she received a call from the state police department asking about potentially interviewing her about her ex-boyfriend's "character," as he had put her down as a reference. The woman said her relationship with the cop ended after he cheated on her with a woman he was "actively training," and asked Redditors if she should reveal the truth to the department or ignore it and move on. Read on to see what went down and how Redditors reacted. OP explained the situation, saying she's a 27-year-old, who "got a call from state police calling me to be reference" for her ex-boyfriend, also 27, "who cheated on me with an officer he was training." "Do I silently give no reference by never allowing them to get in contact with me or do I tell them the truth?" she asked. The woman explained that she had been friends with the man for six years, including two years in which they were housemates, before they then dated for a year in a half. She said he was a cop in a "smaller 'city' department" at the time. She added that her relationship with the man "ended because I found messages of him pursuing a woman who he was actively training 1-1 to potentially be apart of their police department (he also had say on if she was qualified enough to enter the dept- so a position of some superiority)." OP also claimed that she found text messages he sent to friends, in which they called her "slurs," although they did not have "any active tension in the relationship." "It is my speculation that this may have been to set himself up to not look as outwardly like the 'bad guy' as I was completely blind sided by this, considering we had a very long standing relationship without much resistance throughout its entirety - so I could not even begin to justify it as frustration or emotionally charged words against me," she wrote. OP said her ex "must have recently applied for a state police position and put me down as a former girlfriend, for which the dept just called me yesterday to interview me on his character." "Despite him not having the most outrageous red flags like any form of physical abuse, he was at a major lack of integrity throughout the entirety of the relationship, and displayed a number of manipulation tactics even following actual proof of his relations with this girl," she added, before proposing her question to the forum. "1- do I follow up this call with telling them we broke up as a result of him having relations with an officer he was training?" she asked. "And 2- how much does this impact his ability to get the job? Lastly 3- what impact would it have if I just never answer?(which is what I'm currently leaning towards)." "I don't have a vengeance out for this guy, it has been well over 1.5 years since the incident and so I am very emotionally removed, but I also don't want to have him think I would protect him or his reputation ever, as I never even got a mere apology for all of these happenings," OP wrote. "What's everybody's thought?" The majority of Redditors appeared to urge OP to respond to the police department's inquiry, and tell them about her ex-boyfriend's relationship with the woman he was training. " them. We have enough sh--ty cops out there. You have the power to prevent another," a user wrote in a popular comment, to which another replied, "This is like a Smoky the bear service announcement: 'Only you can prevent s--ty cops' 🐻🫵🏾😂." "If it were me I would let them know that he had a romantic relationship with someone he was training. Ideally people like that shouldn't be cops," another Redditor suggested. OP went on to share more details in a series of replies to Redditors, saying that her ex-boyfriend is still in a relationship with the woman he cheated on her with and trained. "Former PO and trainer here. Absolutely report his romantic relationship with his trainee. That is a huge integrity issue. Who knows what he may do in the future if given access to more female recruits. Did his old job ever find out?" a user asked, adding, "Sorry you went through that, OP." The woman replied, giving more information on her ex and his relationship -- at least regarding what she knows. "So it's interesting because as soon as I found out about it I cut all ties, so I am unaware of the exact dynamics to follow. What I am aware of (per other officers girlfriends from the same department) is that they are fully in a romantic relationship now at current," she wrote. "So, considering they both work for the same department and are openly in a relationship, I assume that this previous job definitely knows but I am not sure anybody knows any specific details. 🤷🏼‍♀️." The Redditor responded, telling OP that her ex's relationship with his trainee "could have been hush hush in the beginning or the people in charge don't care unless someone files serial harassment complaint or sues." "It is still a big deal. Absolutely report it," the user added, before suggesting that OP "try to be as neutral about giving the news and don't put any spin on it. Present what evidence you have about the affair while the rookie was in training and leave it at that." "Again, sorry your ex was a d--khead," they added. Another user shared a similar sentiment, telling OP that she needs to "tell them the truth in an unemotional state." "Write down what he did, i.e.: 1. While in a position of power, he had an affair with his trainee. 2. His word determined if the trainee received the job. 3. You found messages to his friends slandering you. 4. He tried gaslighting you, lying, manipulating the events after you discovered the affair and slandering." "You can't in all good conscious give him a good character reference," the Redditor continued, adding, "Don't cuss, don't exaggerate. Be stone cold, straight forward with your words and tone. I suspect he gave you as a reference because he figured you would be too afraid to tell the truth." OP replied to the commenter, writing, "Your last bit there definitely resonates with me - I had considered that as his thought as well." Meanwhile, another Redditor expressed a somewhat different take on the situation. "All they want to know is whether he hit you, pulled a gun on you or did any illegal drugs while in your company. No LE agency is going to care that he called you names and wasn't a dream boyfriend," they wrote. "Cops have astronomically high divorce rates so it's basically understood that maybe they don't make the best partners. There's a difference between things that are illegal and things that are just immoral." OP responded, telling the user that she "completely agree[s] with this sentiment." "I suppose the thing that differentiates this is that he was cheating with a woman he was training and had say on if she would pass requirements to make it into the department or not," she replied, admitting, "This thought process is why I was also just contemplating not answering." Man takes tip back after being publicly 'scolded and humiliated' by waitress

A waitress at an Italian restaurant apparently humiliated a customer in front of a full dining room, prompting him to take his tip back, according to an online forum. The 32-year-old man shared the story on Reddit, asking if he was wrong about retrieving the cash after a dinner date went sideways. "This occurred a few nights ago, and I just can't believe it happened the way it did," he wrote in his post last week. He and his 29-year-old girlfriend had dined at the restaurant before, he said. It wasn't fancy but was good for a "relaxed evening" over a glass of wine, he said. But on this particular night, the service was poor, he said. The waitress allegedly "lost" his drink twice, brought him and his girlfriend the wrong appetizer and "vanished for what seemed like an eternity" when they wanted to order dessert. He paid and left a 10% cash tip, which he felt was "reasonable given the circumstances," he said. "We were just standing up to leave when [the waitress] came over, took the cash and said, 'Seriously? This is it?'" he continued. "She had said it audibly. A few people at some nearby tables turned around and stared." He said he was dumbfounded. "Then she muttered, 'Whatever, cheapskates.'" "Then she added, 'You know, servers can't pay their rent because of people like you … If you can't tip properly, don't dine out.'" The man said that others in the restaurant fell silent as his girlfriend recoiled in embarrassment, but he remained calm and told the waitress, "Sorry you feel that way." But then she muttered, "Whatever, cheapskates." That was the last straw for the baffled boyfriend. He went back to the table, pocketed his cash tip and "left without another word." "I feel like [being] scolded and humiliated on account of a 10% tip that I actually did leave is way out of bounds," he said. His girlfriend later told him his reaction was "fine," but a friend said he went too far. So he took to Reddit, asking others if he was wrong "for retrieving the tip after she yelled at us in front of everyone in the restaurant." "She expected and then demanded a good tip for a crappy job." Many users sided with him and said they wouldn't have left a tip either. "She expected and then demanded a good tip for a crappy job," one person wrote. "You were nice enough to leave her something, but she wanted to be ungrateful." Said another person, "The whole point of a tip is to be an incentive for the server to do good work." Others shared how they would have handled the situation. "I would've told her, 'Tip reflects your service,'" one commenter said. "I would probably have pointed out why the tip was not higher," said another. "And I would also contact the restaurant to speak to a manager because that server was way out of line." But not everyone agreed. "Tipping 10% is insane," commented one person. "You are cheap." Another Redditor said the "petty" move might have punished co-workers pooling tips with her. "The server could've been having a rough shift and having her manager speak to her might have helped her," the person added. Nick Leighton, host of the podcast "Were You Raised By Wolves?" and a New York-based etiquette expert, agreed a manager should be brought in. "When service issues are so egregious they warrant leaving a less-than-standard tip amount, it's ideal to loop in a manager first before exacting revenge on the server," Leighton told Fox News Digital. "Simply walking away would have been the move." "There are, many times, issues [that] are actually beyond the control of the server," Leighton said. So "the manager can help provide a more fair resolution for everyone involved." While calling the customer a "cheapskate" wasn't warranted, taking back the tip "certainly escalated the situation," Leighton added. "Simply walking away would have been the move," he advised. Five Western Mass. teens arrested after stolen car crashes with two others on I-91

Five Western Massachusetts teens were arrested Saturday after a car chase between police and a stolen car ended with the stolen car crashing with two others on I-91 in West Springfield, Holyoke police announced Monday. The car chase began after a Holyoke police sergeant noticed a car that had been reported stolen driving around the city with five people inside, Holyoke police said in a press release. The sergeant tried to pull over the stolen car as it went into the Holyoke Mall parking lot, but the driver accelerated and crashed through two wooden barriers around a construction zone. The stolen car continued onto I-91 south and tried to get off at an exit, but it collided with another vehicle, which led to a third vehicle being struck, police said. All five people in the stolen car ran into the woods following the crash. The sergeant checked on the people in the other two vehicles and then began searching for the suspects, police said. West Springfield police and Massachusetts State Police troopers and the State Police Air Wing responded to the scene to aid in the search. West Springfield police located all five of the suspects: an 18-year-old Chicopee man, a male 17-year-old from Holyoke, a 15-year-old Springfield girl, a 14-year-old Pittsfield girl and a 24-year-old Springfield woman, police said. They arrested the 17-year-old, 15-year-old and 14-year-old, who declined a medical evaluation, and the 18-year-old and 24-year-old were taken to Baystate Medical Center with injuries but are being charged with receiving a stolen vehicle. The investigation into the incident indicated that the 17-year-old was driving the stolen car during the car chase, police said. Holyoke police did not identify any of the suspects.
