‘Slow Horses' Boss Will Smith to Exit After Season 5
'Slow Horses' is losing a key player after Season 5. Executive producer Will Smith, who writes and essentially serves as showrunner — though that title is not used in UK productions — will exit the show after the episodes premiering this fall, TheWrap has learned.
The Apple TV+ drama series starring Gary Oldman has already been renewed for two more seasons. Writers Gabby Chiappe and Ben Vanstone were tapped to lead the charge for Seasons 6 and 7, respectively.

Smith teased in an interview with Deadline that Season 5 will 'close out certain storylines' that have been prevalent since the start of the show, making it the right time to hand over the show to other creatives. Season 5 is set to premiere Sept. 24.
The upcoming fifth and sixth seasons are expected to adapt Mick Herron's novels 'London Rules,' 'Joe Country' and 'Slough House.' 'Ted Lasso' star Nick Mohammed joins the cast as a special guest star in Season 5. Jackson's motley spy crew is back (minus Marcus, alas), with Jack Lowden as River Cartwright, Saskia Reeves as Catherine Standish, Rosalind Eleazar as Louisa Guy, Aimee-Ffion Edwards as Shirley Dander and Tom Brooke as enigmatic new guy J.K. Coe.
''Slow Horses' has won fans all over the world with its unique mix of self-deprecating British humor and high-octane action. I'm delighted viewers will have another season to enjoy Gary's magnificent performance as Jackson Lamb alongside the Slow Horses slightly inept spycraft,' Jay Hunt, creative director for Europe at Apple TV+, said in a statement alongside the Season 7 renewal.
The series is produced for Apple TV+ by See-Saw Films, with Smith adapting Seasons 1-5. Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Douglas Urbanski, Gail Mutrux, Smith and Graham Yost serve as executive producers on the series. Saul Metzstein, who earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for his work on 'Slow Horses' Season 3, returns to direct Season 5. Adam Randall is tapped to direct Season 6 and Robert McKillop will direct Season 7.

The bob - in all its many shapes, forms and never-ending trends - is undoubtedly the most coveted haircut of summer '25. As for the latest celebrity to co-sign the short, chin-length crop? Jodie Turner-Smith just debuted a sleek, flicked bob at Comic Con during the first leg of the Tron: Ares press tour. While the actor's character, Athena, has a bleached blonde buzzcut in the sci-fi action film, Turner-Smith opted for a jet-black crop for the press tour. Her new slicked-back bob fell just below the chin and was all natural; Turner-Smith forewent extensions altogether. Turner-Smith's new flicked bob was thanks to the work of hairstylist Coree Moreno, who described the bob as 'a chic effortless push back, with no extensions, just a soulful silk press'. The focus here was on her natural hair and using the right products to tend to her scalp and crown. '[We put] love and intention into treating and preparing her crown,' said Moreno. Moreno told ELLE UK that healthy hair and versatility were at the forefront of Turner-Smith's bob. 'Jodie, myself and the team agreed on something sleek and timeless with a bit of "Tron" edge,' he explains. For those after something similar, Moreno achieved the look 'by treating and fortifying the hair to prepare her natural curls.' Then, he slicked back the hair with wax and hair polish, 'to sculpt and mould the hair into shape.' Moreno employed a little-known trick called the 'invisible foundation technique,' which he describes as 'a hidden-modified half-up-half-down to keep structure and slick the silhouette from the front view.' After the foundation was constructed and the desired shape achieved using a flat iron, Moreno explained that he finished Turner-Smith's bob with a simple flip to help elevate the look. The actor paired her flicked-out crop with a snow white manicure courtesy of Ginger Lopez. Law Roach, stylist to the likes of Celine Dion and Zendaya, also dressed her in a two-toned white and blue Alaïa set, before the Tron star stepped out in a matching leather jacket and skirt for the evening. It's not the first time the actor has selected a flicked bob for the red carpet. Last June, she donned a bob with baby bangs and a perkier sixties-esque flip to promote her role in Star Wars: The Acolyte. ‘Eyes of Wakanda' Trailer: Black Panther's Ancient History Told in Animated Series From Ryan Coogler
The first trailer for 'Eyes of Wakanda,' a four-episode limited animated series executive produced by 'Black Panther' director Ryan Coogler, has been released. It will release on Disney+ on Aug. 1. The upcoming show will be set in Wakanda, the home of the Black Panther that was extensively explored in Coogler's two Marvel movies. The show will follow 'the adventures of brave Wakandan warriors throughout history. In this globe-trotting adventure, the heroes must carry-out dangerous missions to retrieve Vibranium artifacts from the enemies of Wakanda. They are the Hatut Zaraze and this is their story.' Julia Roberts' RomCom Sequel in the Works 30 Years After First Movie originally appeared on Parade. Julia Roberts' beloved 1997 romantic comedy My Best Friend's Wedding is reportedly in the works nearly 30 years after the film's debut. Celine Song will pen the project for Sony Pictures, according to Variety and The Wrap. However, no director is officially on board yet. Song, 36, is best known for writing and directing the 2023 film Past Lives and the 2025 film Materialists. The original film followed Julianne Porter (Roberts) as she attended her best friend Michael O'Neal's (Dermot Mulroney) wedding to Kimberly Wallace (Cameron Diaz). Throughout the course of the movie, Julianne sets out to have Michael cancel the wedding due to her feelings for him. The movie also starred Rupert Everett, Carrie Preston and the late Philip Bosco. The sequel's plot and cast have not yet been announced. However, Mulroney, 61, recently told the New York Post that "there is talk of a sequel" in an interview published on July 25. 'I know nothing about it. Last I heard, quote, lawyers were talking, unquote,' he added at the time. While recalling his experience on the original film, Mulroney said that the "whole thing was a dream."
