Mahesh Goud scoffs at Kavitha's sudden love for BCs
He said that BRS, which has been in power for ten years, never cared about increasing the BC reservation. He alleged that when the Congress announced the BC Declaration, leaders like MLC K Kavitha were busy counting 'scam money from the liquor case'. Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan, the PCC Chief said that Kavitha should remember and acknowledge that social justice had not been done during the ten-year BRS rule. He urged the media to question Kavitha, who was in Tihar Jail, when she fought for BC reservations.
While ridiculing her statements, the Congress MLC said that Telangana's populace is laughing at her remarks. 'Is Kavitha even clear about which party she is in now,' he asked. He explained that BRS has supported BJP at the Centre on many bills in the past. But BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao was frustrated and not in a mood to appreciate the crucial decision to increase reservations for BCs, taken up by the Congress. Mahesh Kumar Goud said that KCR has not opened his mouth on the decision that will benefit BCs. He also said that BJP is not sincere towards BCs. So far, there has been no response from the Center on the BC reservation increase bill.

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Thursday accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of misusing government machinery and staff to further his political agenda ahead of the elections. Speaking at a public meeting in Sirkazhi, Mayiladuthurai district, as part of his 'Urimaiyai Meetpom, Makkalai Kappom' campaign, Mr. Palaniswami criticised the timing and intent behind the 'Ungaludan Stalin' outreach programme, calling it a 'gimmick' designed for votes. 'Just one year before the elections, Mr. Stalin is resorting to gimmicks using government machinery. Government employees are helping him in this campaign,' he alleged, referring to the 'Ungaludan Stalin' scheme. 'This is not how a Chief Minister should function.' Questioning the intent behind the scheme, Mr. Palaniswami said, 'Why is he collecting grievances after four years? The scheme claims to address 46 different issues—Mr. Stalin is indirectly accepting that there are unresolved problems. Why now? This is nothing but a vote-seeking exercise.' He also criticised the ideological inconsistency within the DMK-led alliance. 'Mr. Stalin says his is an ideological alliance. Do VCK or Congress share the same ideology? Every party in their coalition follows different ideologies. Worse, they've compromised their principles for the DMK's sake. People see through it, and alliance leaders should be careful when they face the public.' Responding to Mr. Stalin's criticism on the Katchatheevu issue, Mr. Palaniswami said, 'It was during the tenure of former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in Tamil Nadu and the Congress government at the Centre that Katchatheevu was ceded. Back then, when they were in power and in alliance, they didn't care about fishermen. Now they are pretending to be their saviours.' On the Chief Minister's recent remark that Mr. Palaniswami is afraid, the AIADMK leader replied, 'I am a farmer. I have nothing to fear. You should fear the TASMAC scam, where ₹10 is taken from every bottle. At least ₹15 crore is looted every day, which amounts to over ₹5,000 crore a year. So, who really has something to fear?' Reasserting AIADMK's record in protecting farmers' interests, Mr. Palaniswami said it was his government that declared the delta region a protected agricultural zone. 'No one, not even Mr. Stalin, can take away people's land here. That is our achievement,' he said. Referring to the allegations of M. Sundaresan, DSP of the Prohibition Enforcement Wing in Mayiladuthurai, that he was being harassed by seniors, Mr Palaniswami said under the DMK honest and decorated officers are being ill-treated. He condemned the taking away of the DSP's official vehicle. 'If this is how law enforcement officers are treated, how can they effectively curb the spread of illicit liquor and other addictive substances,' he asked.

Shah should clarify delay in Kanhaiya Lal murder case: Gehlot
Jaipur: Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Thursday demanded Union home minister Amit Shah to explain the prolonged delay in delivering justice in the infamous Kanhaiya Lal murder case of 2022. During a press conference held here shortly before Shah reached Jaipur to address a cooperatives and employment festival, Gehlot alleged that BJP's manipulation of the incident contributed to Congress's defeat in the 2023 state assembly elections. The case, which shocked the nation, involved the beheading of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Udaipur, in June 2022. Despite the local police arresting the two accused within four hours, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) took over the investigation the same night. Gehlot said there has been minimal progress in the case since then. "Even basic procedures like recording statements in court remain incomplete," Gehlot pointed out, comparing this case to others where verdicts were reached within three to six months. He emphasised that such delays have led to public scepticism about the govt's competence. The former CM refuted allegations about discriminatory compensation, stating that Kanhaiya Lal's family received the "largest compensation package given to anyone post-independence," including govt jobs for both sons and a Rs 50 lakh package. He accused Amit Shah of spreading misinformation about the compensation amounts, which he claims created a Hindu-Muslim divide that influenced the election outcome. Addressing current law and order concerns, Gehlot highlighted a recent incident involving a Dalit boy in Alwar, expressing worry about the deteriorating security situation in the state.

"Witch-Hunting": Congress On Probe Agency's Action Against Robert Vadra
New Delhi: The Congress on Thursday termed as "witch-hunting" the Enforcement Directorate's (ED) charge sheet against Robert Vadra and said it is another attempt of the government to "intimidate and persecute", which will fail miserably. Congress general secretary Randeep Surjewala claimed that there is "not an iota of illegality" in the land deal of Vadra and asked when has sale and purchase of property has become illegal. "The witch hunting of Sh. Robert Vadra is another vicious attempt of Modi Government to intimidate and persecute, which will fail miserably," Mr Surjewala said in a post on X. In Shikohpur, he claimed, "there is not an iota of illegality or whisper of a crime." "Since when have the sale and purchase of property (3.5 Acres of land in this case) become illegal or criminal?" the Congress leader asked. Earlier in the day, the ED filed a charge sheet against Vadra, the businessman husband of Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in a money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in a land deal in Haryana's Shikohpur. "Was an inch of Government land allotted? Answer is NO ! Was any License given to Robert Vadra for 'change of land use'? Answer is NO ! "Was any stamp duty evaded? Answer is NO ! Was any Law, rules or regulations for sale or purchase of land or for conversion of land violated? Answer is NO ! "Do Robert Vadra or his Company own the land or have made any building thereon? Answer is NO ! Who owns the land and license ? Answer is DLF since the year 2012. Then, WHAT IS THE CRIME?," Mr Surjewala asked in his post. "Crime is that the "factory of false persecution" has to keep fake narratives alive. Truth will win !," the Congress leader said. Mr Vadra's office issued a statement later, saying the present proceedings are nothing more than an extension of the political witch hunt by the present government against him. This is the first time that any probe agency has filed a prosecution complaint naming the 56-year-old Vadra in a criminal case. The federal investigative agency, sources told PTI, has also attached 43 immovable properties located in Rajasthan, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Gujarat worth Rs. 37.64 crore pertaining to Vadra and his linked entities like Sky Light Hospitality Pvt. Ltd. and others.
