S.W.A.T. EXILES picks up 'after a high-profile mission goes sideways,' at which point Hondo 'is pulled out of forced retirement to lead a last-chance experimental SWAT unit made up of untested, unpredictable young recruits,' according to the official logline. 'Hondo must bridge a generational divide, navigate clashing personalities, and turn a squad of outsiders into a team capable of protecting the city and saving the program that made him who he is.'
Production on the spinoff is set to begin this summer in Los Angeles, with Jason Ning (Lucifer, Mrs. Davis) tapped to serve as showrunner. A Stateside network or streaming service is not yet attached; TVLine will keep you posted as we learn more.

Stephen Colbert lands new late-night hosting gig on CBS — in 'Elsbeth' season 3
When one door closes, a guest spot opens. Stephen Colbert's days on CBS's The Late Show may be numbered, but the comedian is already exploring some new ventures, including a role on CBS's Elsbeth — as a late-night host. Entertainment Weekly has learned that Colbert is set to guest-star in a season 3 episode of the murder mystery series. Colbert's character will host the fictional show, Way Late with Scotty Bristol, according to Vulture, which first reported the news. Representatives for Colbert did not immediately respond to EW's inquiries, while a rep for CBS declined to comment. The timing of Colbert's newest CBS collab is certainly auspicious. Late last month, the network announced that The Late Show With Stephen Colbert would conclude next year, ending the franchise — which began with David Letterman in 1993 — after 33 years on the air. EW has learned that plans for Colbert's appearance on Elsbeth were set in motion months before that announcement. Back in February, Colbert welcomed Elsbeth star Wendell Pierce to The Late Show and, during their conversation, said that he's been dying to appear on a procedural like Elsbeth. "I want to be the body that's found behind the pile of lettuce boxes or something like that," he joked. Pierce immediately offered to help out: "I can make that happen,' he quipped. "I know a guy who knows a guy. We can get you on." Whether Colbert will be a murderer, an ally, or a produce-stashed corpse remains to be seen, but it seems Pierce delivered on his promise to make a few calls. A spinoff of The Good Wife and The Good Fight, Elsbeth follows the astute but unconventional attorney Elsbeth Tascioni (Carrie Preston) as she uses her unique observations to solve a new murder each week. As a guest star, Colbert is in esteemed company; the series has also welcomed Nathan Lane, Keegan-Michael Key, Laurie Metcalf, Mary-Louise Parker, Laura Benanti, Matthew Broderick, and more. With the new season set to arrive in October, the comedian will remain busy hosting his actual late-night show until announcing the end of The Late Show, CBS said its decision to pull the plug on the franchise was "purely a financial one" and that it wasn't "related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount." But many critics have questioned the timing of the announcement, pointing out that Colbert had recently criticized CBS' corporate parent, Paramount Global, for agreeing to pay $16 million to President Donald Trump over an interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris that aired on 60 Minutes in November. Trump has long disliked late-night hosts' jokes about his administration and celebrated news of The Late Show's cancellation on social media, writing that Colbert's "talent was even less than his ratings. For his part, Colbert has not backed down, continuing to openly criticize Trump and his administration throughout the president's second term. Reacting to Trump's post about his cancellation, Colbert said, "How dare you sir. Would an untalented man be able to compose the following satirical witticism: Go f--- yourself." CBS Quietly Removes Former NFL Star From 2025 Broadcast Crew
CBS Quietly Removes Former NFL Star From 2025 Broadcast Crew originally appeared on The Spun. The NFL on CBS will look a bit different this upcoming season. The network has decided to move on from a three-time Pro Bowler. Last week, CBS unveiled its game announcers for the 2025 regular season. As you'd expect, the ton names like Jim Nantz, Tony Romo and Ian Eagle will remain key contributors for the network. Former NFL running back Tiki Barber, however, was left off this list from CBS. He has been a game analyst for CBS since 2019, working alongside Andrew Catalon, Matt Ryan and a few other broadcasters. Though we're not entirely sure why, CBS has replaced Barber with Charles Davis. Here's the 2025 broadcast roster for CBS: Jim Nantz, Tony Romo and Tracy Wolfson Ian Eagle, J.J. Watt and Evan Washburn Kevin Harlan, Trent Green and Melanie Collins Andrew Catalon, Charles Davis, Jason McCourty and AJ Ross Spero Dedes, Adam Archuleta and Aditi Kinkhabwala Even though Barber won't be part of a CBS crew this NFL season, he'll keep himself busy on Sundays. He'll team up with John Schmeelk for gameday broadcasts. "I am really excited to be joining the Giants gameday radio broadcast team on WFAN. This organization has meant so much to me, professionally and personally," Barber said. "The Giants have a long history of legendary broadcasters and Wellington Mara always told them to call it like they see it because our fans know better. I look forward to providing analysis and insight that Giants fans appreciate." The former New York Giants running back will also continue hosting "Evan & Tiki" every weekday on WFAN Quietly Removes Former NFL Star From 2025 Broadcast Crew first appeared on The Spun on Aug 3, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 3, 2025, where it first appeared.

Justin Hartley's ‘Tracker' Costar Praises Him After Multiple Cast Exits: ‘A Real Captain of That Ship'
Working on Justin Hartley's hit series Tracker has left quite an impression on one of the show's guest stars. During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly, Hallmark's Lachlan Quarmby recalled his guest appearance in season 1, saying, "Justin is awesome. He's straight in there. He's a real captain of that ship. That was a great time." Quarmby, who was promoting his Hallmark trilogy, Providence Falls, walked away from the hit CBS series with a very positive experience. "I got to do an Australian accent. I was told when I was at acting school in Australia that I'd never play a surfer since I just don't have the look. And I got to play a surfer in Vancouver, who was Australian," he noted. "That was so fun." Most Iconic Guest Stars From Justin Hartley's 'Tracker' Series: Sofia Pernas, Jensen Ackles and More Since Tracker premiered in February 2024, viewers have tuned in week after week to see fictional survivalist Colter Shaw (Hartley) travel the country to help solve various missing persons cases. As Colter has gotten help, the ensemble cast has grown with characters such as handlers Teddi (Robin Weigert) and Velma (Abby McEnany), hacker Bobby (Eric Graise) and attorney Reenie (Fiona Rene). Darko Sikman/CBS The procedural's case of the weak format means the show is always introducing new faces. Fans were surprised when executive producer Elwood Reid hinted at an onscreen reconfiguration before season 3. "I don't want the show to be phone-a-friend every week. I think that gets old, and Justin is always challenging me on that. He's like, 'Do we need to do this? Do I need to call Bobby all the time? Can I do this?'" Reid exclusively told Us in May. "You don't [always] see Reenie. He talks to Velma for two seconds. He may talk to Bobby for one phone call. The show works because you are over Justin's shoulder." Weigert, McEnany and Graise have all left Tracker in the first two seasons. Hartley, 48, has still struck gold with a wide variety of guest stars who keep returning including Jensen Ackles, Hartley's wife, Sofia Pernas, Melissa Roxburgh and Jennifer Morrison. Why Did Justin Hartley's 'Tracker' Lose 3 Main Characters Before Season 3? Cast Reconfiguration Explained While Quarmby was only brought in for one episode, he has remained booked and busy with projects such as Hallmark's Providence Falls. The three-part movie event is based on the book series by Jude Deveraux set in 1844 Ireland. In addition to Quarmby, Providence Falls stars Katie Stevens and Evan Roderick. 'The character was already so fun right off the bat that from a personal point of view, it seemed really cool," Quarmby told Us. "But then to just see how much love was getting poured into the project from the top down, it was just a no brainer.' Providence Falls' three-part event premieres on Hallmark Channel Saturday, August 2, at 8 p.m. ET with Providence Falls: Chance of a Lifetime. Providence Falls: An Impossible Promise premieres on Saturday, August 9, and Providence Falls: Thief of Fate on Saturday, August 16, both at 8 p.m. ET. Solve the daily Crossword
