Ex-Steelers WR Antonio Brown on attempted murder charge, shooting claims: 'All made up'
Antonio Brown is continuing to claim his innocence while facing an attempted murder charge stemming from a situation at Adin Ross' celebrity boxing event.
On Tuesday, MLFootball claimed Brown had issued a statement that read:
"No video ab shooting… all made up.'
Brown had previously issued statements to MLFootball on football-related topics, such as Aaron Rodgers recruiting him to Pittsburgh, but this is a far more serious situation altogether.
On June 12, The Washington Post reported that Brown was facing the charge for an altercation that turned violent. David Ovalle of the Post summarized from a reviewed warrant that footage appeared to show Brown punching a man, as well as allegedly taking a firearm from a "security officer." Ovalle also revealed that the warrant said cellphone video showed two shots being fired as Brown approached the man.
Brown made headlines for posting a video of himself riding a bike the Middle East after news broke of the attempted murder charge — and it remains to be seen where this legal situation will lead next.

Pirates complete sweep of AL-best Tigers on heels of getting swept by AL-worst White Sox

It's been a polarized week for the Pittsburgh Pirates since their return from the MLB All-Star break. The Pirates opened the second half of their regular-season schedule by getting swept by the Chicago White Sox, the worst team in the American League. They followed that up with a sweep of the Detroit Tigers, the team with the best record in the AL. [Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season] The Pirates completed the three-game sweep of the Tigers on Wednesday with a 6-1 win. They also won, 8-5 on Tuesday and 3-0 on Monday, anchored by six shutout innings from Paul Skenes. Per Elias Sports Bureau, that makes the Pirates the first team since the 1980 San Diego Padres to get swept by the worst team and a league and sweep the best team in the league in back-to-back series past the midway point of the season. The third consecutive loss to Pittsburgh dropped the Tigers to 60-43, into a virtual tie with the Houston Astros (59-42) and Toronto Blue Jays (59-42) for the best record in the AL. Though the Astros and Blue Jays (.584) have a better winning percentage by a smidge than the the Tigers (.583) thanks to having played two fewer games each. The White Sox, meanwhile, remain the dregs of the AL at 36-66 (.354) So which Pirates are the real Pirates? Their record speaks for itself. Despite the sweep of the Tigers, the Pirates remain one of the worst teams in baseball and sit at the bottom of the NL Central with a 42-61 (.408) record. This is a team that's produced a 5-8 record for Skenes, a Cy Young contender with a 1.91 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. The sweep of the Tigers is a highlight of their season, but it's not a sign of anything larger for the Pirates.

Florida State quarterback comments on Alabama once again at 2025 ACC media days

The offseason talk between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida State Seminoles continues ahead of their Week 1 showdown in Tallahassee. Yes, on Wednesday at 2025 ACC football media days in Charlotte, North Carolina, Florida State quarterback Tommy Castellanos was asked once again about his previous comments from earlier this offseason. "We stand on what I said," Castellanos said at ACC media days. "But there's no disrespect between that team or anything like that. It's just the confidence that I have in my teammates and the way we've been preparing and putting this preparation together this off-season, I just feel confident in the guys and the work that we've been putting in." Castellanos' original comment on the Alabama vs. Florida State matchup came back in June, with the Florida State quarterback's quotes such as "they don't have Nick Saban to save them" making headlines. Those statements caught the attention of many across college football, which included some Alabama players such as linebacker Deontae Lawson, who commented on the quote recently at SEC media days. Alabama and Florida State are set to kickoff the 2025 college football season Saturday, Aug. 30 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will be played in Tallahassee, Florida on ABC. Bedlam Women's basketball back on for 2025-2026 per report

Bedlam is back on the docket for the 2025-2026 women's basketball season, according to a report from The Norman Transcript's Davis Cordova. Women's Bedlam basketball will take place on December 13 as part of a doubleheader with men's Bedlam. It'll be the first time the two teams have played since Oklahoma moved to the SEC. The Sooners won both matchups in the 2023-2024 season. The Sooners are coming off their first Sweet 16 appearance under Jennie Barancyzk and rode that momentum into landing the No. 1 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, Aliyah Chavez. Oklahoma State made the NCAA tournament last season, but lost to No. 10 seed South Dakota State. Jennie Baranzcyk is 6-0 against the Cowgirls in her tenure as the Sooners' head coach.
