
Unconscious person found after Longueuil fire

One person was found unconscious and a second suffered from severe smoke inhalation following a fire at a home in Longueuil, on Montreal's South Shore.
Longueuil police (SPAL) says it received a call from the fire department about the fire at 7 a.m. Monday at a single-storey home on Viger Street in the Saint-Hubert borough.
The force says it found the two people, one unconscious and the other suffering from severe smoke inhalation.
That person was treated by paramedics, and their life is not considered to be in danger.
A third person who was also in the home is being interviewed by police.
Officials say they have yet to determine what caused the fire.
A security perimeter has been established to allow investigators to canvass the scene.

Driver suffers minor injuries after crashing into Waterloo grocery store

One person arrested after two attempted carjackings involving firearm in Brantford
One person is in custody after allegedly attempting two armed carjackings in Brantford on Friday night. Brantford Police say officers responded to a 911 call just after 9 p.m. from the area of Tecumseh Street and Strathcona Avenue, where a male allegedly brandished a firearm and attempted to steal a vehicle. They say the attempt was unsuccessful and the suspect fled on foot. Minutes later, a second 911 call came in from the area of Edward Street and Huron Street reporting a similar incident involving a male with a firearm trying to steal another vehicle. Police say the descriptions matched and officers determined both incidents were related. With the help of a K-9 unit, officers arrested a male suspect nearby a short time later. No physical injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing, but police say there is no threat to public safety. Body of missing person, 70, found under dock in St. Lawrence River, OPP investigating

(Source: OPP Central Region) The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating after the body of a missing 70-year-old person was found under a dock in the St. Lawrence River Saturday afternoon. Police say Leeds OPP received a call on Saturday at 12:30 a.m., reporting a missing per who was last seen at the ferry dock on Hitchcock Street on Wolfe Island. 'While officers were enroute to the location, the OPP received additional reports that a body had been located under the dock,' the OPP said in a news release Saturday. The body was identified as the missing person, according to police. To protect the privacy of their family, police will not give information about their identity. 'A postmortem examination will be conducted,' police added. The investigation is ongoing.
