'Ungaludan Stalin' camps to be held from July 15 across Chennai wards
According to an official release, six wards will host the first set of camps on the opening day — Ward 25 (Madhavaram Zone), Ward 38 (Tondiarpet Zone), Ward 76 (Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar Zone), Ward 109 (Teynampet Zone), Ward 143 (Valasaravakkam Zone), and Ward 168 (Adyar Zone).
The camps will function between 9 A.M. and 3 P.M. The initiative, personally overseen by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, aims to address residents' grievances, ensure delivery of welfare schemes, and improve access to public services.
Each ward will host two such camps between July 15 and October 31, ensuring comprehensive citywide coverage.
In total, around 2,000 trained volunteers will be involved in the programme.
Beginning Monday, volunteers will start distributing application forms door-to-door across selected areas, along with detailed information on available services, required documents, and the process for availing benefits.
Residents will have access to on-the-spot grievance redressal, document verification, welfare enrolments, and even medical services at these camps.
Once applications are submitted, officials will ensure they are processed within 45 days, the Corporation stated.
The programme will roll out in phases, with Phase 1 covering 109 wards between July 15 and August 14. The remaining wards will be covered in subsequent phases through October.
'Ungaludan Stalin' was initially conceptualised as a grassroots governance model that encourages direct citizen engagement.
The camps act as platforms where residents can submit applications for old age pensions, smart ration cards, birth/death certificates, house tax-related corrections, and more — all under one roof.
Officials said this model has helped speed up service delivery, reduce bureaucratic delays, and foster greater trust between the public and the administration.
Residents are encouraged to participate actively and make use of the services provided, as this initiative continues to be a crucial link between government and grassroots.

Regular monitoring of children for weight, height, and mid-upper arm circumference, improving dietary diversity for young children were among the recommendations. The report 'Urban Growth and Thermal Stress: A Decadal Assessment of Built-up Area and Climate Interactions in Tamil Nadu' called for a comprehensive heat mitigation strategy for the State. It recommended community engagement, data-driven monitoring, block-level interventions, building construction guidelines, and urbanisation regulations. The regulations include urban infrastructure and land-use planning, urban building construction guidelines, hilly region construction regulations, rural area construction standards, and retrofitting existing structures, among others. The 'Framework for Nature-based Solutions for Enhanced Urban Resilience in Tier 2 Cities of Tamil Nadu - Framework Report' said that Tamil Nadu reflected the global trends vividly with its Tier 2 cities experiencing accelerated economic and demographic expansion. 'This urban growth, however, is contrasted against rising climate risks including urban floods, decline in groundwater, cyclones and ecological fragmentation, calling for urgent, sustainable, and resilient urban planning approaches,' it said. The proposed framework developed jointly by TN-SLURB, GIZ and CUBE presented a strategic and technical framework for mainstreaming NBS into the urban planning systems of Tier 2 cities in Tamil Nadu, it said.

Stalin inaugurates 729 new homes for Sri Lankan Tamils across five TN districts
In a significant step toward improving the living conditions of Sri Lankan Tamils in Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday inaugurated 729 newly-built houses in rehabilitation camps across five districts. The inauguration was conducted via video conference from the State Secretariat, in the presence of Revenue and Disaster Management Minister K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran and Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam. Constructed at a cost of Rs 38.76 crore, the houses are located in refugee camps situated in Villupuram, Tiruppur, Salem, Dharmapuri, and Virudhunagar districts. These homes are part of a broader rehabilitation initiative by the Tamil Nadu government, announced under Rule 110 in the state Assembly in August 2021, aimed at upgrading infrastructure and living conditions in Sri Lankan Tamil camps spread across the state. As per the government's long-term plan, over 3,510 houses are to be built at a total estimated cost of Rs 180.34 crore in 35 rehabilitation camps. Of this, 2,781 houses in 32 camps across 18 districts have already been completed and handed over to beneficiaries. The state has also undertaken supplementary infrastructure upgrades in these camps to improve the quality of life. These include new internal roads, upgraded electricity lines, and enhanced drinking water supply facilities. The total cost of these civil works stands at Rs 7.33 crore. According to an official release, the rehabilitation programme is part of the DMK government's commitment to provide a dignified life to Sri Lankan Tamils who have been residing in 67 government-run camps across 26 districts of Tamil Nadu for decades, after fleeing ethnic conflict in their homeland. TN: Tiruvarur declared ‘Red Zone' ahead of CM Stalin's visit
Security has been tightened across Tiruvarur district as Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is scheduled to visit the region for two days, on July 9 and 10. The Tiruvarur District Police have declared all roads and streets through which the Chief Minister's convoy is expected to pass as 'red zone' areas, effectively restricting movement and activities in those zones for security reasons. In a press release issued on Monday, District Collector V. Mohanachandran said the use of civil remotely piloted aircraft systems (RPAS) and drones has been strictly prohibited during the Chief Minister's visit. The restrictions follow standard VVIP security protocols, given that Stalin's convoy will pass through multiple areas in the district. As per the itinerary, Chief Minister Stalin will arrive in Tiruvarur from Chennai via Tiruchirappalli on the evening of July 9. He will first visit the Kalaignar Memorial at Kattur, located on the outskirts of Tiruvarur town, to pay homage to his late father and former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. Following the memorial visit, Stalin will lead a roadshow in Tiruvarur town on the same night. The Chief Minister will stay overnight at his family residence in Tiruvarur.
