Brother and sister, 9 and 6, found living off-grid in farm wearing nappies & only able to speak in primitive language
The reclusive family was only discovered when cops arrived at their hillside farm to evacuate them after a flooding alert GHOST CHILDREN Brother and sister, 9 and 6, found living off-grid in farm wearing nappies & only able to speak in primitive language Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A BROTHER and sister have been discovered by horrified cops living off-grid on a farm - with no contact with the outside world. The young kids were said to be "filthy" when astonished cops made the heartbreaking discovery in Lauriano, northern Italy. Local media reports on Monday say their 54-year-old sculptor dad and 38-year-old mum are both Dutch nationals. Their dad claimed he was homeschooling the pair, despite neither of them being able to read or write, local media reports. He told Italian newspaper Corriere Torino: "I love my children, I just wanted to protect them." The 54-year-old also reportedly said his decision to raise his children in what appears to be complete isolation was motivated by fear of infections like Covid-19. He also argued that the brother and sister had "a lot of toys, each their own laptop, many musical instruments, and good ski equipment". He even said they rode horses at a local riding school and visited restaurants and museums. The children were reportedly born in Germany before being moved over to a town in Turin. Harrowing images of the ramshackle farm show random broken and abandoned furniture chucked outside and derelict trampolines that had clearly been left to rot. Worker at £1,900-a-month nursery 'punched, grabbed and pinched 23 crying babies' Rubbish was also captured strewn across the garden. The reclusive family was only discovered when cops arrived at their hillside farm to evacuate them after a flooding alert. The Turin Juvenile Court ordered the immediate removal of the children from their parents. It said in its ruling: "There are facts that suggest that the minors are deprived of adequate assistance from their parents or relatives who are required to provide it." The children have been taken into state care while arrangements are made for them to be taken into foster care. During the removal process, concerns were raised about their mum, who is said to have shown little interest in her own kids, NL Times reports. It's thought she is homeless, the news site added. Local mayor Mara Baccolla said: "It is a very delicate matter. "These children can finally find a balance and have access to a life worthy of the name." She also reportedly spoke of meeting the dad once and described him as being "very reserved" who was unable to speak Italian. Residents of the town near the farm have shared their shock about the children's existence remaining completely unknown until now. Despite it being known the farmhouse had changed owners, no one had visited the property in that time. It currently remains unclear if the parents face further action.

The four-time champion jockey is booked for four rides at Thirsk on Wednesday, with the last of those at 5.48pm. He will then make the 238-mile, five-hour journey from the North Yorkshire track to Reading for his court appearance. Murphy is set to be at New York racecourse Saratoga, US, on Friday for a money-spinning ride on the Qatar Racing-owned New Century in the Group 1 Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes at 10.45pm British time. From there Murphy will make the seven-hour transatlantic flight back to Britain in time for 1.50pm at Sandown on Saturday, Coral-Eclipse day at the Surrey track. He is booked for 10-1 change Shagraan there ahead of the eagerly anticipated ride on 12-1 Almaqam in the £1million Eclipse itself at 3.35pm. Murphy has ridden New Century in seven of his eight career runs, the highlight being a Group 1 win at Woodbine in September last year. New Century was trained by Andrew Balding then before moving to James Ferguson and then Walsh. Irad Ortiz Jnr rode him most recently when the son of Kameko finished third in the American Turf Stakes at Churchill Downs in May. More to follow. Teenager jailed for just six years after ‘savage' attack of dad-of-two in Scots town
Keen runner Scott suffered blunt force facial injuries and died at the scene 'MERCILESS' Teenager jailed for just six years after 'savage' attack of dad-of-two in Scots town Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A TEENAGE thug has been jailed for just six and a half years after killing a dad-of-two in a "savage" attack in a Scots town. The boy, who was 15 at the time, battered Scott Mitchell to death, 48, after spotting him kissing a woman in a back garden. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 2 Scott Mitchell was battered to death by the teen in 2023 Credit: Social Media The enraged teenager rained punches and kicks on Mr Mitchell after seeing the BT engineer being intimate with the female on a swing chair in Alness in the Highlands on June 17, 2023. The chilling attack lasted several minutes and only ended when the thug was dragged off his victim by a witness. Keen runner Scott suffered blunt force facial injuries and died at the scene. The boy - now aged 17 and cannot be identified due to his age - today appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow. He had previously admitted to the culpable homicide of Mr Mitchell during a hearing in Inverness last month. Lord Arthurson branded the killing "savage and merciless". The court previously heard Scott, who had split from his wife, had accompanied the woman to her home after they met on a boozy night out in the town's Station bar in June 2023. Prosecutor Graeme Jessop said: 'They got a taxi and went into the garden and sat on a swing chair. 'Mr Mitchell kissed her and initiated sexual contact.' The pair were then spotted by the teen around midnight as he walked home after drinks at a pal's house. 'Killer' told man he 'tortured to death he was going to s**g his ex' Residents heard him shout, 'He's a pervert' while lashing out. Mr Jessop said: 'A neighbour heard the accused's screams of anger and shouted to leave Mr Mitchell alone." Donald Findlay, defending, told the court: 'He was rallying to the defence of the woman as he perceived it.' Mr Mitchell - a keen runner and cyclist who had raised thousands for local charities - passed away having suffered horrific blunt force facial injuries. Cops found the killer soaked in blood in a nearby park, where he broke down and claimed he thought the woman was being sexually assaulted. The High Court in Inverness heard he told officers: 'I have an anger problem which I can control normally. 'But seeing what I did there was no chance.' His victim's family said he was 'loved by all who knew him'. 2 Keen runner Scott suffered blunt force facial injuries and died at the scene Credit: Social Media In a tribute, they added: 'We are devastated at the senseless loss of Scott.' The teenager had originally faced a murder allegation before prosecutors accepted his guilty plea to the reduced charge. Donald Findlay KC, defending, today said the attacker "misread" the situation with Mr Mitchell and the woman that night with "appalling consequences". The advocate added the teenager was now "absolutely distraught" at what he had done. Sentencing, Lord Arthurson told the killer: "This was a savage, sustained and merciless case of sheer brutality. You punched and kicked your victim to death. "You battered his face to a pulp while you were, as you later stated, out of control with anger. "As you embark on your sentence, you will do well to remember this - Mr Mitchell died a terrible and violent, lonely death. "One day you will complete your sentence and return home to resume your life - that prospect has been wholly denied for Mr Mitchell and his grieving family entirely due to your appalling behaviour."
