Appearing on Andy Cohen 's Watch What Happens Live, Denise made her mark on the Bravo chat show.
The famous telly star sounded a little cautious when host Andy quizzed her about Taylor's album The Tortured Poets Department.
Taylor released her TTPD album in 2024 after her romance with The 1975 's frontman fizzled out and she had moved on with Kansas City Chiefs hunk Travis Kelce.
It has been widely claimed that many of the songs on the body of work might be about her fling with Matty, including The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived and Fortnight.
Andy said to Denise that her son is "the great Matty Healy" before saying: "On that topic, um, Miss Swift wrote a whole album about their relationship, Tortured Poets Department.
"What was your reaction to that album?"
She cautiously responded: "Obviously, on pain of death can I talk about that episode, but not being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost."
As the audience reacted to the callous remark, Denise quickly interjected.
She said: "Not that I have anything against her at all.
"It was just, you know, it was it was tricky.

"But um... Listen, you're not allowed to say anything. And then she writes a whole album, you know, about it.
"But Matty has taken it all in completely good grace.
"He's very happy with his amazing fiance Gabriella, Gabriette, who is gorgeous.
"So we've all moved on," she concluded.
Reacting to the interview, one person commented underneath the YouTube video of the interview shared on the WWHL page.
"Pretty crappy how men can't say anything about Taylor but it's ok for her to write whole songs about them," they said.
Meanwhile, one fan on X said: "Saying you're grateful not to be someone's mother-in-law is low.
"Taylor never said a single bad word. Why drag her when it's all in the past?"
Another then defended Denise when they said: "She said nothing wrong."
While a third penned: "There's barely 2 songs about Matty."
Taylor and Matty had a short-lived romance back in 2023.
The pair connected after Taylor's split from longtime beau Joe Alwyn.
They were first linked in early May of 2023 and reportedly broke up in early June of that year.

Denise Welch appears to be in tears during emotional chat with son Matty Healy

Denise Welch has been pictured apparently crying while sharing an emotional conversation with her son, rockstar Matty Healy. The Loose Women panelist, 67, joined Matty, 36, on the sidewalk outside of a Los Angeles restaurant where he'd shared a meal with fiancée Gabriella Bechtel. Matty and musician, actress, and model Gabriella Bechtel – known professionally as Gabbriette – first became linked in September 2023. After being spotted together in September that year, they later confirmed their romance and were engaged by June 2024. While former Coronation Street star Denise was less than complimentary about Matty's ex – pop sensation Taylor Swift – she's previously described Gabriella as 'everything I would want in a daughter in law.' In images taken as the trio shared a meal together in Los Angeles, mum Denise took a moment for what seemed to be an emotional conversation with The 1975 frontman Matty. In the images, Matty joined his mother outside the restaurant where they had been dining with Gabbriette, 28. As Matty lights up a cigarette, it looks as though Denise begins crying. Denise wore a light blue blazer over a white t-shirt with stripes, and rolled up blue trousers with a pair of chunky wedge shoes. Matty, meanwhile, wore a pair of grey-tinged jeans and a dark sweater. Other pictures from the evening showed Matty and Gabbriette as they left the restaurant together, with Matty covering his thick head of hair with a baseball cap. In these images, Gabbriette wore a short-sleeved black top with dark coloured jeans and a pair of knee-high boots. They made their way hand-in-hand down the stairs, apparently laughing and joking as they made their exit. In a separate image, Denise can also be seen leaving the building, looking serious as she's helped down the steep steps. Prior to his relationship with Gabbriette , Matty dated Tortured Poets Department songstress Taylor Swift. Matty and Taylor reportedly dated for one month in 2023 before things 'fizzled out' and they ended their breakup. When asked about her son's relationship with the Cruel Summer hitmaker, on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Denise joked: 'Obviously, on pain of death can I talk about that episode.' She then added: 'But being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost.' 'Not that I have anything against her at all,' she clarified, 'It was just—it was tricky.' More Trending She added: 'Listen, you're not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it.' By contrast, she opened up about her son's engagement on an episode of Loose Women earlier this year, saying of Gabbriette: 'We couldn't be happier. She is everything I would want in a daughter in law.' Gabbriette herself confirmed rumours of their engagement with a post to Instagram, sharing a snap of herself wielding a chunky great engagement ring while at a Charli XCX concert in New York City. She captioned the post: 'MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT.' Got a story? Patrick Kielty's new Cat Deeley fear has him in a 'very dark place'

Insiders close to Patrick Kielty have revealed his biggest fear following his split with Cat Deeley that could leave him in a 'very dark place'. Earlier this week, the two presenters announced their separation after more than a decade of marriage. Patrick, 54, who earns £215,000 a year as presenter of The Late Late Show, and Cat, 48, who hosts This Morning alongside Ben Shepard, gave a joint statement together. The couple said: 'We have taken the decision to end our marriage and are now separated. There is no other party involved. 'We will continue to be united as loving parents to our children and would therefore kindly ask for our family privacy to be respected. There will be no further comment.' Now, however, sources near to Patrick have revealed his fear that Cat could move back to the US, where the family previously lived, and she could taketheir children with her. A source told MailOnline: 'Everyone is worried about Paddy. The fear is that Cat will go back to America with the little ones. That will leave him in a very dark place.' Following the news that Lorraine and Loose Women's hours have been cut, the source went on to add: 'Cat's time on This Morning has not been a failure, but it has hardly been a roaring success. 'It is a job which puts her under so much scrutiny, day-in and day-out, and unlike most British presenters she has plenty more lucrative options to choose from in the States. 'There is concern that all of this family drama could lead her to walk away.' Cat and Patrick lived in Los Angeles for more than 14 years, where Cat presented So You Think You Can Dance, which she was reportedly paid £43,000 an episode. Earlier this year, it was revealed why Cat did not attend the funeral of Patrick's mother in County Down, Northern Ireland. The presenter said she wanted to be there for her sons Milo, nine, and James, seven, before and after they finished school as they grieved the loss of their grandmother. Her representative confirmed to MailOnline: 'Cat remained at home to be there for her two young children before and after school on this very sad day.' The TV stars met while presenting Fame Academy together on the BBC in 2003, at which time Cat was married to her ex-husband Mark Whelan. Their professional relationship quickly evolved into a personal one, and they got married in September 2012 at an intimate ceremony in Rome. More Trending They also welcomed their son Milo in January 2016 and James in June 2018. In 2023, Patrick took over from Ryan Tubridy as the host of The Late Late Show on Ireland's RTE One channel in 2023 Cat was then unveiled as the new host of This Morning, alongside Shepard, in February 2024.
