Turkish Amb. Hails Egypt's 'Hope Giver' Campaign

Turkish Ambassador to Egypt, H.E. Salih Mutlu Şen, has praised Egypt's 'Hope Giver' campaign, describing it as a powerful testament to human resilience and the vital role of civil society.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Turkish ambassador highlighted the significance of the initiative, which was held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC).
'I attended and followed with great interest the 'Hope Giver' campaign, organized at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, inspired by extraordinary stories born from the belief that with struggle and determination, solutions and remedies can surely be achieved,' Şen wrote.
He expressed admiration for the support provided by Egyptian civil society and the private sector, crediting their strong tradition of solidarity and cooperation, fostered by the state, with helping individuals regain their physical and mental well-being.
Şen also extended his congratulations to Her Excellency Nabila Makram for assuming the presidency of the newly established alliance of civil society organizations dedicated to solidarity and development. The alliance aims to coordinate efforts among NGOs to maximize their impact in supporting vulnerable communities and advancing sustainable development goals.
The 'Hope Giver' campaign featured personal stories of overcoming adversity, serving as a platform to inspire hope and highlight the growing role of Egypt's civil society in promoting social cohesion and well-being.

Egypt's New Administrative Capital Shares Urban Planning Expertise in Madagascar
Taarek Refaat In a significant step to bolster African cooperation and export Egyptian expertise in sustainable urban development, the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company (ACUD) has announced its active involvement in supporting the development of a new administrative city in Madagascar. The visit, led by Eng. Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of ACUD, came at the official invitation of Madagascar's Secretary of State for New Towns and Housing and follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between both nations during the Cairo Urban Forum in November 2024. The Egyptian delegation visited the Madagascan capital Antananarivo from June 22 to 25, 2025, where they explored avenues for technical collaboration and shared Egypt's landmark experience in developing its New Administrative Capital (NAC)—a national megaproject viewed as a model for future smart cities in the region. Sharing Expertise for a Future Capital At the heart of the visit was a field tour of the Tana-Masondro New City Project, located approximately 28 kilometers from Antananarivo and spanning over 2,340 acres. The site is set to become Madagascar's future administrative capital and a major urban expansion initiative. During the tour, Eng. Abbas reviewed master plans, ongoing works, and requested detailed technical documents for evaluation and advisory input from the Egyptian side. In a high-level meeting with the Secretary of State, Abbas presented Egypt's integrated approach to smart and sustainable urban planning, including infrastructure development, digital governance, and public-private partnerships. The two parties agreed to form a joint steering committee comprising specialists from both countries to oversee cooperation and begin technical collaboration on the new city's design and implementation. Business Forum Highlights Egyptian-Malagasy Partnership The visit also featured ACUD's participation in the Egypt-Madagascar Business Forum, which was attended by senior officials from both countries, including Egypt's Deputy Minister for Maritime Transport, Rear Admiral Nehad Shaheen, and a delegation of private Egyptian firms. On the Malagasy side, ministers of foreign affairs, transportation, public works, energy, water, industry, and commerce joined the discussions. Eng. Abbas took part in knowledge-exchange sessions that showcased Egypt's urban development model, highlighting successful strategies in financing, planning, and managing large-scale cities such as the NAC. Presidential Reception and Bilateral Commitment The visit concluded with a meeting between Eng. Abbas and President Andry Rajoelina of Madagascar, during which Abbas conveyed the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and affirmed Cairo's readiness to support Madagascar's urban ambitions. President Rajoelina welcomed the Egyptian offer of expertise and emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation in areas of development, urban planning, and sustainable infrastructure. A Strategic Partnership in the Making The collaboration reflects a broader strategy by the Egyptian government to expand its footprint in African urban development initiatives, positioning ACUD as a regional leader in smart city planning. The signed MoU outlines a roadmap for Egyptian companies to provide technical support, human resources, and consultancy in the design and execution of the Tana-Masondro project. Israel Raises Fuel Prices following War with Iran
Taarek Refaat The Israeli Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure announced on Sunday a modest hike in government-regulated gasoline prices, citing mounting economic pressure following the recent 12-day conflict with Iran. Starting at midnight on Monday, the price of 95-octane gasoline at fuel stations across Israel will increase by 0.01 Israeli shekels per liter, bringing the total to 7.15 shekels ($2.12) per liter. This marks the second consecutive monthly increase, as reported in an official ministry statement. According to Globes, a leading Israeli financial newspaper, the latest price adjustment reflects not only fluctuations in oil prices and currency exchange rates, but also the economic aftermath of the military confrontation with Iran. Unlike past oil shocks that triggered sharp surges in global barrel prices, the global oil market reacted with relative moderation this time, the report noted. However, the cumulative financial burden of military operations and heightened security costs is increasingly influencing domestic pricing structures. Traditionally, fuel prices in Israel are calculated at the end of each month based on the average oil prices in the Mediterranean market and the exchange rate between the shekel and the U.S. dollar—currently 3.38 shekels to the dollar. The final price also includes marketing fees, excise tax, and value-added tax (VAT). Inflation Pressures Mount The economic impact of the Iran-Israel conflict continues to ripple through the Israeli economy. Following the outbreak of war in Gaza earlier this year, the Israeli government raised VAT from 17% to 18%, contributing to an upward trend in consumer prices and inflation. 'The inflation crisis is not over,' said Danny Yardeni, Head of Nostro Management at Bank Leumi. 'There's pressure on rents due to the war, and not all airlines have resumed operations. But I believe the end of the crisis has reduced some of the uncertainty.' Yardeni added that the private consumption sector has weakened, with many businesses temporarily closed and households spending less amid the state of emergency. The government, for its part, has been forced to allocate significant funds for compensation, both for homeowners affected by missile strikes and for businesses disrupted during the hostilities. Egyptian FM: No Mideast Stability Without Palestinian Solution
H-Tayea Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized that Egypt continues to work tirelessly to secure a ceasefire in Gaza, stating that Cairo is engaged in coordinated efforts with Qatar and the United States to halt what he described as 'ongoing crimes and systematic starvation' in the Gaza Strip. These efforts have been sustained for over 21 months since the events of October 7, 2023. In an interview on the ON TV program Kelma Akhira, Abdelatty noted that the current geopolitical context is more favorable for reaching an agreement on Gaza, citing increased recognition among key international actors, especially the US, of Egypt's comprehensive vision. He stressed that peace and stability in the Middle East are impossible without addressing the root of the conflict: the Israeli-Palestinian issue, with the Palestinian cause at its core. 'The message is now clear to Israel: there will be no security or stability without resolving the Palestinian issue and achieving a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace,' he stated, adding that this stance is increasingly echoed by the European Union and other global powers. Responding to a question on recent remarks by US President Donald Trump about a potential Gaza agreement in the coming weeks, Abdel Aaty affirmed the seriousness of American engagement. 'This is true. The January 19 ceasefire agreement in Gaza would not have been possible without the intervention of the current US administration,' he said, pointing to Washington's influence and Egypt's desire for further American involvement.
