New Delhi, Jul 27 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday inspected a district park in Pitampura and Karnel Wala Bagh in Shalimar Bagh, directing officials to expedite beautification and development works.
The chief minister ordered the rejuvenation of water bodies, repair of broken gym equipment, and restoration of the non-functional musical fountain, it added.
She also directed the reconstruction of entry gates, repair of boundary walls, improved lighting and security grills, and enhanced police patrolling.
To improve public convenience, Gupta called for the removal of encroachments, better restroom facilities, provision of drinking water, redevelopment of shopping kiosks, and installation of benches and tables. She also emphasised the need for clear signage and repaired yoga platforms.
Later, Gupta inaugurated development works worth Rs 15 lakh in Shalimar Bagh's BF Block, including new footpaths, lighting and beautification projects.
Gupta said the government is committed to making every park in Delhi clean, safe and well-equipped, and called for greater public feedback and community involvement in building a greener, stronger and inclusive capital. PTI SLB HIG HIG

Pattikonda (Kurnool district): Former Pathikonda YSRCP MLA Kangati Sridevi strongly condemned the recent remarks made by Labour Minister V Subhash during his visit to Pattikonda. She criticised the coalition government, stating that they came to power in 2024 by making false promises. Responding to the Minister's claims on development, she said that the previous YSRCP government executed works under the Handri-Neeva Sujala Sravanthi project up to 80 per cent. She flayed the earlier TDP government for its failure to provide even a single new ration card or pension during its tenure. Speaking to mediapersons on Sunday at Pathikonda, Sridevi said that by the time former chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy assumed office in June 2019, only 12.7% of the Handri-Neeva project had been completed. She claimed that under Jagan's leadership from 2019 to 2024, nearly 80% of the project was completed and water was released. She added that during the YSRCP rule, around 4 lakh new ration cards were sanctioned and the number of pension beneficiaries increased from 39 lakh to 65 lakh across the State. She also rebutted the Minister's claim that no welfare scheme was implemented for women. Highlighting the efforts of the YSRCP government, she said that loans worth Rs 25,570 crore were waived under YSR Aasara for 78.94 lakh women and Rs 19,189 crore was distributed to 26.98 lakh women under YSR Cheyutha. Furthermore, nearly 30 lakh house site pattas were given in the names of women and the Amma Vodi scheme also focused on empowering mothers, she added.

Karnataka to divert Rs 11,896 crore SC/ST funds for guarantees, BJP slams move
The Karnataka government has decided to use a portion of the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) and Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) funds for the implementation of its guarantee schemes. Out of the total Rs 42,017.51 crore allocated for SCSP and TSP in the financial year 2025–26, Rs 11,896.84 crore is set to be utilised for five major welfare decision, which has triggered criticism from the opposition BJP, was approved during the SC/ST State Development Council meeting. A high-level review meeting on the matter is scheduled to be held on August 5 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister allocation for 2025–26 includes Rs 29,991.69 crore under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan and Rs 12,025.82 crore under the Tribal Sub Plan. Of the Rs 11,896.84 crore being diverted, Rs 1,670 crore has been earmarked for Anna Bhagya, Rs 162 crore for Yuva Nidhi, Rs 1,537 crore for Shakti Yojana, Rs 2,626 crore for Gruha Jyoti, and Rs 7,438 crore for Gruha Lakshmi. According to government data, similar reallocation of welfare funds has taken place in the previous two financial years.
