Netflix thriller climbs up top 10 with new season despite being labelled ‘tripe'
Not one for nervous fliers, Departure kicks off with a nightmare plane journey from New York to London which results in the plane going missing.
Archie Punjabi, who has not one but two airline thrillers to her name after co-starring in the Apple TV Plus hit Hijack, here plays investigator Kendra Malley.
Malley is parachuted into the crisis to find where exactly Flight 176 might be and then piece together what went wrong in the air – and she has to go rogue to do so.
The twisty, turny thriller first debuted in 2020, and sees Punjabi play opposite the late Hollywood legend Christopher Plummer as her mentor.

However, many of those who have already tuned into the 18 episodes on the streamer have not been singing its praises.
The first season of Departure currently holds an 80% rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, based on 10 reviews, but subsequent seasons were clearly not reviewed widely enough to rank.
Taking to X, @Toryscott described the show as 'the biggest load of tripe' added: 'Dreadful script, a timeline that makes no sense, wooden acting, weird Americanisation and a ridiculous plot.
'So many good shows never get made. How did this get made? How?'
The Devil's Leap . The four-episode show follows climbing guide Paul (Philippe Bas) and his antagonistic teenage daughter Sara (Maïra Schmitt) on a trek which pits them against killers.

Meanwhile over on Google reviews, viewers had similarly harsh criticisms. @Giles Webberley shared their two star review, writing: 'In brief, the story is quite passable but it is handled appallingly. Awful writing, directing, acting and editing. I gave it the second star because it made me chuckle.'
@PS echoed their sentiments, writing: 'We laughed all the way through season 2, not in a good way. More Trending
'Badly written, badly directed, badly cast, badly edited. This was truly dire. Bored, wooden acting. No chemistry. Scenes edited at silly moments.
'Was there no run through or quality check? Did you just say 'that'll do,' and toss it out there?'
However, others shared their positive reactions, with @Peggy McEwen praising Panjabi and Plummer's performances. @NJ2001J added: 'Love the entire show from season 1 to 3 keeps you hooked. Defo a must watch TV series.'

Hollyoaks confirms unexpected new nemesis for Sienna Blake
Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) is left upset in upcoming Hollyoaks scenes as one character looks set to drive a wedge between her and Cleo McQueen (Nadine Mulkerrin) with a pretty underhanded move. Marie Fielding (Rita Simons) is delighted when she discovers that she's set to become a grandma, with Cleo's pregnancy being revealed earlier than the mum-to-be intended. As Cleo and Sienna await the NIPT results, Marie begins to somewhat overstep, insisting on a gender reveal party. Sienna is determined to be with Cleo at the scan but she finds herself overwhelmed at the flower stall and thus asks Liberty Savage (Jessamy Stoddart) for help – but it proves fruitless. At the hospital, Marie finds Cleo alone and offers to stay. With Cleo at the bathroom, Marie takes it upon herself to put in an anonymous order at the flower stall in a bid to stop Sienna from making it to the appointment on time. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video Later in the week, Cleo is keen to speak to Sienna herself and tells Marie to give her and her girlfriend some space, reiterating that she's really overstepping the mark as a grandma-to-be. Marie doesn't take this too kindly, with Cleo subsequently apologising for pushing her out but tensions soon rise when Sienna puts two and two together, convinced that Marie placed the order at the stall in a bid to stop her from going to the hospital. Marie feins shock and denies such a thing. Cleo, meanwhile, wonders if Sienna is just jumping to conclusions. More Trending Can Sienna convince her otherwise? And will Marie back off? If there's one thing you simply don't want to do, it's make an enemy of Sienna! The week in question will prove eventful for Sienna, that's for sure, as in addition to the drama with Marie, she is also tasked with throwing Jez(Jeremy Sheffield) and John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) a pre-wedding celebration at Casa McQueen. Emmerdale confirms huge Charity story as Cain is left in shock
Desperate to help granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), Emmerdale's Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) is about to make a very impulsive and life-changing offer. Shortly after her cancer diagnosis, Sarah underwent an operation that left her devastated. There was a complication in surgery and as a result, she had to have a hysterectomy. Due to this, Sarah can no longer carry a child. The development was so badly timed as just a few days prior, she was getting excited with friend Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) about her IVF process, and how it finally felt like becoming a mum was a dream within reaching distance. Unable to grow a small human of her own, Sarah broke down to Cain recently. He felt terrible over the fact Sarah is only in this position because of an illness she has no control over, and became determined to help. This was when Cain suggested surrogacy. It's certainly not the same as giving birth to your own baby – but it's one of the few options Sarah has left. In upcoming episodes, Charity approaches Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) and asks her to be Sarah's surrogate. She is overwhelmed by the request, and Charity later senses that she isn't all too keen on the idea. As Victoria chats to Robert (Ryan Hawley), Moira (Natalie J Robb) can't help but wonder if Cain is pushing aside his grief for Nate by focusing on Sarah's surrogacy. More Trending After learning about Charity's chat with Vic, Sarah is furious that her Gran went behind her back. With Cain's efforts to find a surrogacy turning out to be a scam, Sarah resigns herself to the fact she will never be a mum. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? Emmerdale killer John ‘set to confess' as Nate's funeral erupts into chaos
It's Nate Robinson's (Jurell Carter) funeral next week in Emmerdale, though the event is anything but an opportunity to peacefully and calmly reflect on the resident's life. Nate was killed by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) last year, but his body in the lake was only discovered fairly recently. With John doing a good job at covering his tracks, the police are still struggling to work out how Nate died, as well as who was responsible. With the funeral approaching, John spends the days prior filled with dread and to make things even worse, he can't even persuade Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) not to attend. At the surgery, John takes a look at his list and discovers his next appointment is with Owen, the person who spiked Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley). Owen recognises John, and is then thrown out of the surgery. A potential threat quashed once more, John turns his focus back to the funeral, as he's asked by Aaron to try and get Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) to change her mind about the Dingles attending. Sadly, she doesn't budge on her decision. More Trending Later, as the memorial begins in the pub, Cain channels his grief into anger. Just as Caleb Miligan (William Ash) has got his brother to calm down, Nate's mum walks in and is furious to see Cain looking so jovial. Want to be the first to hear shocking EastEnders spoilers? When the day of Nate's funeral arrives, the Dingles arrive en-masse behind the hearse. The event quickly descends into chaos and a major argument escalates between multiple characters. Listening in and struggling is John. Unable to stand it any longer, he makes an emotional appeal for a truce, but ends up getting roped into doing the eulogy instead of Tracy.
