Netflix thriller climbs up top 10 with new season despite being labelled ‘tripe'
Not one for nervous fliers, Departure kicks off with a nightmare plane journey from New York to London which results in the plane going missing.
Archie Punjabi, who has not one but two airline thrillers to her name after co-starring in the Apple TV Plus hit Hijack, here plays investigator Kendra Malley.
Malley is parachuted into the crisis to find where exactly Flight 176 might be and then piece together what went wrong in the air – and she has to go rogue to do so.
The twisty, turny thriller first debuted in 2020, and sees Punjabi play opposite the late Hollywood legend Christopher Plummer as her mentor.

A new season of the fast-paced season has just arrived on Netflix, landing the show on the streamer's top 10 TV chart.

However, many of those who have already tuned into the 18 episodes on the streamer have not been singing its praises.
The first season of Departure currently holds an 80% rating on review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, based on 10 reviews, but subsequent seasons were clearly not reviewed widely enough to rank.
Taking to X, @Toryscott described the show as 'the biggest load of tripe' added: 'Dreadful script, a timeline that makes no sense, wooden acting, weird Americanisation and a ridiculous plot.

Meanwhile over on Google reviews, viewers had similarly harsh criticisms. @Giles Webberley shared their two star review, writing: 'In brief, the story is quite passable but it is handled appallingly. Awful writing, directing, acting and editing. I gave it the second star because it made me chuckle.'

However, others shared their positive reactions, with @Peggy McEwen praising Panjabi and Plummer's performances. @NJ2001J added: 'Love the entire show from season 1 to 3 keeps you hooked. Defo a must watch TV series.'

Hollyoaks confirms unexpected new nemesis for Sienna Blake

Emmerdale confirms huge Charity story as Cain is left in shock
Desperate to help granddaughter Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), Emmerdale's Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) is about to make a very impulsive and life-changing offer. Shortly after her cancer diagnosis, Sarah underwent an operation that left her devastated. There was a complication in surgery and as a result, she had to have a hysterectomy. Due to this, Sarah can no longer carry a child. The development was so badly timed as just a few days prior, she was getting excited with friend Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) about her IVF process, and how it finally felt like becoming a mum was a dream within reaching distance. Unable to grow a small human of her own, Sarah broke down to Cain recently. He felt terrible over the fact Sarah is only in this position because of an illness she has no control over, and became determined to help. This was when Cain suggested surrogacy. It's certainly not the same as giving birth to your own baby – but it's one of the few options Sarah has left. In upcoming episodes, Charity approaches Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) and asks her to be Sarah's surrogate. She is overwhelmed by the request, and Charity later senses that she isn't all too keen on the idea. Emmerdale killer John ‘set to confess' as Nate's funeral erupts into chaos
It's Nate Robinson's (Jurell Carter) funeral next week in Emmerdale, though the event is anything but an opportunity to peacefully and calmly reflect on the resident's life. Nate was killed by John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) last year, but his body in the lake was only discovered fairly recently. With John doing a good job at covering his tracks, the police are still struggling to work out how Nate died, as well as who was responsible. With the funeral approaching, John spends the days prior filled with dread and to make things even worse, he can't even persuade Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) not to attend. At the surgery, John takes a look at his list and discovers his next appointment is with Owen, the person who spiked Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley). Owen recognises John, and is then thrown out of the surgery. A potential threat quashed once more, John turns his focus back to the funeral, as he's asked by Aaron to try and get Tracy Shankley (Amy Walsh) to change her mind about the Dingles attending.
