Bikers seriously injured after head-on crash
The rider and passenger of a motorcycle have been left seriously injured after their vehicle ended up in a ditch following a head-on crash with a van.
North Yorkshire Police said the incident took place at around 11:40 BST on Friday on the A19 South of Escrick towards Hollicarrs.
A black Kawasaki motorcycle went into a ditch off the carriageway following the collision with a white Vauxhall Vivaro van, resulting in the bikers being taken to hospital.
The scene was closed following the incident with diversions in place, but it reopened just before 16:00 BST.
Anyone with any information or dashcam footage is asked to get in touch with police.

Appeal after theft from city castle site
A fire extinguisher has been stolen from an English Heritage site in York, police have said. North Yorkshire Police said the extinguisher was taken from Clifford's Tower, the largest surviving part of York Castle, on 8 May. The force released a CCTV image of two people it said may have "important information" about the theft. Man arrested after body found near water tower
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a body near a water tower. The body of a 29-year-old man was found close to a disused building in the Shelton area of Shrewsbury at about 11:50 BST. West Mercia Police said the 26-year-old arrested man was being held in custody for questioning. It was believed he knew the victim. Boy, 15, arrested in race hate crimes inquiry
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a series of suspected race hate crimes in York. The latest incident, on Sunday, involved a group of about 15 balaclava-clad youths on mountain bikes who attacked two Muslim men with tennis rackets and sticks while subjecting them to racist abuse , according to North Yorkshire Police.
