Land acquisition for mega steel plant to begin soon in Odishas Keonjhar: Majhi
According to official sources, the mega steel project in the district will be set up in a joint venture between JSW Group and South Korean steel giant POSCO, with an initial production capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) and an investment of over Rs 40,000 crore.
The government has identified two land patches for the project, one near Taramakant and another at Patna.
'Keonjhar will get a mega steel plant, and preparation for this has already started. The process has moved two steps forward, and the company concerned has deposited necessary funds for the purpose," Majhi said after reviewing several development projects in the district.
The chief minister said the establishment of the plant is expected to boost the mineral-rich district's economy and provide new employment opportunities for local youths.
Majhi has taken it as a challenge to set up a mega steel mill in Keonjhar, as the district lacks large-scale industries, an official sai.
The government has taken up several developmental projects, such as national highway expansion, and there is no dearth of funds for the development of Keonjhar, he said.
After his arrival, Majhi chaired a district-level review meeting, met local MLAs and sought their cooperation for the district's development.
He flagged off three new ambulances and a 'Maa Tarini's coconut collection vehicle', a unique initiative likely tied to the renowned Maa Tarini Temple in Ghatagaon, where coconuts are a popular offering. PTI COR AAM SBN AAM SBN

China's Ant Group to fully exit Paytm by selling 5.84% stake
China's Ant Group is all set to exit One 97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm, as it plans to sell its remaining 5.84% equity stake in the fintech firm through block deals on Tuesday. Sources said that the total value of the deal is pegged at Rs 3,800 crore. The floor price for the block deal has been fixed at Rs 1,020 per share, a 5.4% discount to Paytm's last closing price of Rs 1,078.20 on Monday on the NSE. The stake sale is likely to be executed as a clean-out trade, indicating a full exit of Antfin's specified stake in a single tranche. At the end of the June quarter, Antfin (Netherlands) Holding B.V. held a 5.84% stake, or 3.77 crore shares in the company, according to exchange data. Antfin has been reducing its stake in Paytm in recent quarters. This is the third significant stake sale by the Ant Group in One 97 Communications and is expected to lead to the full exit of the Chinese investor from the company. In May 2025 and August 2023, the Alibaba-owned company sold about a 14.3% stake of Paytm for about Rs 8,830 crore.

CM Rekha Gupta forms committees for new excise, EV policies in Delhi
Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday announced the constitution of two separate committees for the formulation of the excise policy and EV Policy 2.0. The excise policy committee will be headed by PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, while the electric vehicle policy committee will be headed by Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood, she said. In a post on X, the chief minister said, 'Keeping social security in focus, the Delhi government has constituted a high-level committee to formulate a transparent excise policy, which will be headed by Cabinet Minister Shri @p_sahibsingh. 'Additionally, a special committee has been formed under the leadership of Cabinet Minister Shri @ashishsood_bjp to develop an effective and public-oriented EV (Electric Vehicle) policy for Delhi. Our government is committed to the holistic development of Delhi and is continuously taking decisions in the public interest. #ViksitDelhi," she said. 'Our government is dedicated to the people of Delhi and is continuously taking decisions in public interest," Gupta had said earlier. Both the excise policy and EV policy have been extended multiple times in the absence of new policies. In June this year, the government extended its excise policy for the financial year 2025–26. The current policy was extended with effect from July 1 to March 31, 2026. The extended policy, also known as the old excise policy, came into operation in September 2022 after the then Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government scrapped its reformative policy (2021–22) that ran into rough weather amid allegations of irregularities in its formulation and implementation. The Delhi government had extended the current Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy until March 31, 2026, as the draft of the new policy will undergo public consultation, which is expected to take time, Transport Minister Pankaj Singh had said last month. The current EV policy, which was first introduced in 2020 during the previous Aam Aadmi Party rule, lapsed in August 2023. The policy has been extended several times since then.
