Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx among BET Ultimate Icon Award honorees
May 28 (UPI) -- BET announced the upcoming BET Awards will include Ultimate Icon Awards being presented to legendary entertainers Mariah Carey, Jamie Foxx, Snoop Dogg and Kirk Franklin.
The cable network said in a press release Wednesday that the June 9 ceremony, hosted by Kevin Hart, will feature four recipients of the Ultimate Icon Award for their "decades of groundbreaking contributions to music, entertainment, advocacy and community impact."
The awards will be presented to Carey, the best-selling female solo artist of all time; Foxx, an actor and performer whose accolades include Oscar, Grammy and Golden Globe awards; Franklin, a 20-time Grammy-winning gospel singer; and Snoop Dogg, a rapper and hip-hop mogul with nearly three decades "as an unparalleled force" in culture.
Carey, Franklin and Snoop Dogg will also perform.
Previous Ultimate Icon Award recipients include Janet Jackson, Deborah L. Lee and Tyler Perry.
The BET Awards will air live June 9 at 8 p.m. EDT on BET.
Kendrick Lamar leads the nominees with 10 nominations, followed by Doechii, Drake, Future and GloRilla with six nominations each.

The mystery of who will star in the lead role of a Murder, She Wrote film adaptation has been solved. When asked point-blank what the chances are that fans could see her pick up the mantel of Jessica Fletcher, the mystery writer and amateur detective first brought to life by the late Angela Lansbury in the long-running CBS series of the same name, Jamie Lee Curtis didn't hold back. "Oh, it's… happening," Curtis playfully confirmed to Entertainment Tonight at the world premiere of Freakier Friday. "We're a minute away, but yeah, [I'm] very excited. Very excited. But I'm tamping down my enthusiasm until we start shooting. I have a couple of other things to hustle, but then I'll get to enjoy that work." Deadline first reported in December that the Oscar winner was in talks to star in a Murder, She Wrote film at Universal written by Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, with producers Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal. Previously, in October 2013, it was reported that NBC was planning a reboot of the series, but by January 2014 it was revealed that it was not moving forward. The original Murder, She Wrote, which ran for 12 seasons from 1984 to 1996, focused on Lansbury's Jessica Fletcher, who became embroiled in various murder cases that took place in the fictional town of Cabot Cove, Maine, as well as other locales around the globe. Created by Peter S. Fischer, Richard Levinson and William Link, the crime drama also starred Tom Bosley, William Windom and Ron Masak. Considered one of the most successful and long-running series in history, Murder, She Wrote was a hit with the industry and public alike. At the height of its popularity, it averaged 30 million viewers per week, according to the L.A. Times. Though she never won, the role earned Lansbury a whopping 12 Emmy nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The update from Curtis is a positive one for the reboot. As she alluded to, though, Curtis has much on her plate at the moment before she can pick up a magnifying glass. First up for the star is reprising her role of Tess Coleman in Freakier Friday, the sequel to the beloved 2003 film starring Lindsay December, she'll be seen in James L. Brooks' dramedy film Ella McCay alongside Emma Mackey, Woody Harrelson, Kumail Nanjiani, Spike Fearn, Ayo Edebiri, Jack Lowden, Rebecca Hall, Julie Kavner, Becky Ann Baker, Joey Brooks, and Albert Brooks. S.F.'s Moscone Center books giant act for venue's first-ever concert
The Moscone Center, San Francisco's largest convention and exhibition complex, has booked its first-ever concert. Home of large events like Salesforce's annual Dreamforce conference, the downtown venue is set to host electronic dance music giant Fisher on Dec. 19. House music DJs Chris Lorenzo and Partiboi69 will join as supporting acts. The Australian music producer, whose full name is Paul Nicholas Fisher, announced the launch event on Instagram, sharing a carousel of photos and videos teasing the show on Friday, July 25. One clip shows a cardboard cutout of Fisher behind a turntable at the Moscone Center, zooming out to highlight the vastness of the space. A few slides later, a fan snaps a photo with the cutout, which was placed on the lawn of a San Francisco park as part of a promotional campaign. Another states 'AI doesn't know how to party' above a photo of the DJ's grinning face. Ticket presales start at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, and general on sale begins at 2 p.m. the same day. Fisher also announced in his recent post that he is giving away 10 tickets to the show. Fans must tag three friends in the comment section to qualify, and winners will be selected next week. The producer's upcoming Moscone Center performance marks a stark change in programming for the venue, which consists of three main buildings spanning more than 2 million square feet. Fisher's concert is slated for the Moscone South building, which features roughly 260,000 square feet of exhibit space. The buildings are best known for hosting large events such as Salesforce's annual Dreamforce conference and the Game Developers Conference. Fisher first rose to global fame as part of the DJ duo Cut Snake, and released his first solo single, 'Ya Kidding,' in 2017. The Grammy nominee has since released two EPs and is signed to San Francisco-based electronic music label Dirtybird. He has performed in the Bay Area on several occasions in recent years, including at San Jose City Hall in March, at last year's Portola Festival and at Outside Lands 2023.
