CUET UG 2025 Result: Most and least scored subjects from last year

CUET UG 2025 Result: As the National Testing Agency (NTA) is set to declare the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) results today, let us look at last year's data on student performance across subjects. From business studies to lesser-known languages, the CUET UG result last year saw a wide variation in the number of students securing full marks. CUET UG Result 2025 Live: Updates on NTA scorecard, result PDF download link In 2024, Business Studies emerged as the subject with the highest number of full scores, with a staggering 8,024 candidates scoring the maximum marks of 200. The subject's popularity and scoring potential have made it a favorite among commerce stream students. In 2023, as many as 2,357 candidates scored the maximum marks in the subject. Closely followed by political science, where 5,141 students scored the maximum marks – 200. English was the third most scoring subject in CUET UG last year where 1,683 students achieved a perfect score of 200. In 2023, however, English was the top subject where most students (5,685) scored the maximum marks. The subject's wide adoption and structured syllabus likely contributed to the high success rate. Other high-scoring subjects included psychology, where 1,602 students scored 200 marks and accountancy/ book keeping where 1,135 students scored 200 marks. In biology/ biological studies/ biotechnology and biochemistry, as many as 835 students scored the maximum marks – 200, showing strong performances from both science and commerce backgrounds. On the flip side, several niche and regional languages saw only one or two candidates scoring full marks. Subjects like Assamese, Kannada, Malayalam, Manipuri, Mizo, Kashmiri, Konkani, Russian, Sanskrit, and even foreign languages like French, German, Spanish, and Tibetan had just one to two top scorers each. Interestingly, environmental studies, despite its relatively lower maximum score of 170, saw only two candidates getting the full marks — reflecting either a tougher evaluation standard or limited participation. The data reveals that while mainstream subjects offer a broader competitive pool with more high scores, niche subjects can still be strategic choices — especially for those students confident in their strengths. With CUET UG becoming a gateway to multiple central universities, understanding scoring trends can help students make smarter academic choices. As we await the CUET UG 2025 results, these patterns from last year may just offer a clue to what's ahead. Around 13.5 lakh candidates appeared in CUET UG this year. CUET UG 2025 was held from May 13 to June 4.

Agri varsity's makhana discovery secures patent

1 2 Bhagalpur: In a major scientific breakthrough, Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Bhagalpur, has secured a patent from the govt of India's patent office for the novel identification of a bioactive compound, N-(2-iodophenyl) methanesulfonamide, in Euryale ferox, commonly known as makhana or fox nut. The discovery marks the first time this compound, previously known only as a synthetic pharmacological agent, has been found in a natural source. "It is a major milestone for agricultural innovation and public health and a game-changer for farmers and scientists alike," said BAU vice-chancellor D R Singh. The compound was identified in the perisperm (nutritive tissue) of makhana during extensive research at BAU's NABL-accredited lab. The team included director (research) A K Singh, scientists V Shajeeda Banu, Pritam Ganguly and Anil Kumar, led by VC Singh. The patent was granted on July 2, following BAU's application in December 2024. "Until now, this compound was synthetically produced using complex reactions. Its natural presence in makhana opens new avenues in nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals," said Singh. The compound has a molecular formula of C₇H₈INO₂S and is being studied for its anti-microbial and anti-cancer potential. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Secure Your Child's Future with Strong English Fluency Planet Spark Learn More Undo "This discovery holds great promise for makhana growers in regions like Mithilanchal and Seemanchal.
