Yankees Trade Scenario Would Send DJ LeMahieu to Braves for $35 Million All-Star

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources.
The New York Yankees have a need in their infield, specifically at second base. DJ LeMahieu is slashing .240/.313/.327 with just five extra base hits on the year.
LeMahieu is no longer an All-Star or Gold Glover like he was in his prime. He still has one year left on his six-year, $90 million deal. However, if the Yankees want to reach their World Series aspirations, LeMahieu may have to be benched or moved.

DUNEDIN, FLORIDA - MARCH 08: DJ LeMahieu #26 of the New York Yankees throws the ball to first base in the third inning against the Toronto Blue Jays during a 2024 Grapefruit League Spring Training game at TD Ballpark on March 08, 2024 in Dunedin, Florida. MoreTrading LeMahieu will not be easy with his contract and decline. However, ClutchPoints' Zachary Howell proposed this trade that would swap LeMahieu for an Atlanta Braves All-Star:
Yankees receive: Ozzie Albies
Braves receive: DJ LeMahieu and Roderick Arias (Yankees' No. 5 prospect)
The Braves will not trade Albies or any of their stars if they are still in contention around the July 31 trade deadline. However, even if they are out of contention, they are not going to take on LeMahieu without a reason, and in this case, that reason is Arias.
Albies is not having his best year, slashing .224/.298/.326 with just six home runs. However, the three-time All-Star is starting to look more like himself. He has started to swing the bat a little better since being moved down in the batting order, and could benefit from a change of scenery and a hitter-friendly ballpark like Yankee Stadium.
Albies has $7 million club options for the next two seasons and is just 28 years old. He could be a key player for the Yankees. Last season, Jazz Chisholm Jr. came over from a struggling team and had a great run with the Yankees. Could Albies do the same?

Two LSU football players make Athlon Sports' preseason All-SEC team

Two LSU football players are projected to earn First-Team All-SEC honors, according to Athlon Sports' 2025 College Football Preview, released earlier this summer. Linebacker Whit Weeks made the cut, as did Barion Brown in the kick returner role. LSU didn't place all-conference players on offense, with Texas QB Arch Manning getting the nod over Garrett Nussmeier. Weeks left LSU's Texas Bowl win vs. Baylor with an ankle injury, but that was after the linebacker enjoyed a breakout season as a sophomore. Weeks ranked second among SEC linebackers in stops and pressures. He was a havoc creator, sacking the quarterback four times, forcing two fumbles, and batting down two passes. After surgery, Weeks missed LSU's spring practice but is expected to return as LSU kicks off fall camp later this Summer. As for Brown, he transfers to LSU already with five kicks returned for a touchdown. Brown is expected to be a dynamic weapon on LSU's offense, but Tiger fans should expect Brown to be a difference-maker on special teams, too.

LeBron James picks up $52.6 million player option with Lakers for next season

As had been rumored for a few weeks now, LeBron James has picked up his $52.6 million player option to return to the Los Angeles Lakers next season. Sunday was the deadline for LeBron to pick up his option. LeBron's agent Rich Paul made this statement to ESPN's Shams Charania, who broke the news: 'LeBron wants to compete for a championship,' Paul told ESPN. 'He knows the Lakers are building for the future. He understands that, but he values a realistic chance of winning it all. We are very appreciative of the partnership that we've had for eight years with Jeanie [Buss] and Rob [Pelinka] and consider the Lakers as a critical part of his career. 'We understand the difficulty in winning now while preparing for the future. We do want to evaluate what's best for LeBron at this stage in his life and career. He wants to make every season he has left count, and the Lakers understand that, are supportive and want what's best for him.' In the last few years in Los Angeles, LeBron would opt out of that final year and then re-sign with the Lakers on a new two- or three-year deal with a player option at the end, which helped LeBron leverage in the organization. Choosing to opt into his player option and be a free agent next summer is a change in strategy, and the tone of Paul's statement was, essentially, 'let's see what this looks like a year from now.' A year from now, LeBron James will be 41 and there is some speculation that this season, his 23rd (while wearing No. 23, and with the All-Star Game in Los Angeles) could be his last. LeBron has said nothing about this yet other than that he and his family need to discuss it. He is far more likely to make that announcement and embark on a farewell tour of sorts, rather than simply decide to walk away, as Tim Duncan did. The Lakers are in a transition phase after the stunning trade for Luka Doncic — the 25-year-old is now the future of the franchise. The Lakers are making offseason moves to bring in players who will thrive next to Doncic (such as a rim-running center, the team's top offseason priority). The Lakers can offer Doncic an extension on Aug. 2 and will make a max offer to him then. With Doncic, LeBron and Austin Reaves, the Lakers have a core that can make noise in the Western Conference next season if they have the right depth around them. Los Angeles won 50 games and finished as the No. 3 seed in the West last season (only to fall to Minnesota in the first round of the playoffs). A similar regular season finish, combined with a better playoff run, is the team's goal next season, they seen themselves as contenders. LeBron has spent the start of his offseason recovering from a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee, which he suffered in the Lakers' final playoff game against Minnesota.

bet365 Bonus Code SBKWIRE: Bet $5, Get $150 In Bonus Bets Win or Lose for Twins-Tigers

The Tigers have been the best team in the Majors and thus earned a feature spot with tonight's Sunday Night Baseball game against Minnesota. The Tigers have as many as four potential All-Star starters in Gleyber Torres, Riley Greene, Javy Baez and Tarik Skubal, so this is a showcase for some of the best players in baseball. It's also a game you can bet on with the bet365 bonus code SBKWIRE that gives new customers a bet $5, get $150 in bonus bets offer. Reigning AL Cy Young winner – and the current favorite for the 2025 award – Tarik Skubal will pitch for the Tigers on short rest after allowing an uncharacteristic four runs in six innings last week against the A's. Skubal nonetheless picked up his ninth win, even though his ERA ticked upward to 2.29. Even so, the lefty is 5-0 with a 1.88 ERA in his last seven starts, which is why Detroit is considered a strong favorite on the sports betting apps. A wager on the Tigers at -500 or greater odds can serve as the qualifying $5 bet that gets you $150 in bonus bets with the bet365 bonus code SBKWIRE. The bet365 bonus code SBKWIRE is one of the best sportsbook promos because of its simplicity and the potential for a greater than 30-1 return. Just place that initial qualifying wager of $5 or more after creating a new account. That bonus bet value can be divided into smaller amounts. It also has a 1x playthrough that delivers profits after only one winning bet. Another great game taking place today is the Los Angeles Dodgers at Kansas City Royals. This is a terrific matchup for player prop bets, as you can bet on how Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Bobby Witt Jr., Teoscar Hernandez or Will Smith will do at the plate. Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh just broke Johnny Bench's record for most home runs by a primary catcher before the All-Star break. That will make a Raleigh home run prop bet one of the most popular wagers of the day in the Mariners game at Texas. There are even more compelling MLB matchups that you can wager on after signing up for the bet365 bonus code SBKWIRE. Tops on this list might be the Athletics at Yankees showdown that will allow you to get some player prop bets on Aaron Judge, arguably the most dominant player in the Majors. bet365 Bonus Code SBKWIRE: Get $150 in Bonus Bets or $1000 First-Bet Safety Net The USMNT dominated the Group D matchups in this year's Concacaf Gold Cup, winning all three games by a combined 8-1 score. Those wins vaulted the USMNT to tonight's quarterfinal match against Costa Rica. That performance is also why the USMNT was a -175 moneyline odds favorite earlier this week to win this matchup. A victory here sends the USMNT to the Gold Cup semifinal matchup. The final round of the Rocket Classic is an all-day event featuring some of the best golfers in the world. The Cubs and Astros have been leading their respective divisions for much of this season. That makes today's matchup between these teams a potential World Series preview. Chicago may be considered an underdog due to a bit of a slump of late and being on the road, but the Cubs are the second highest scoring team in the National League and thus can go toe-to-toe with anyone on a given day. Add all of these matchups to a Liberty-Dream matchup of 10+ win teams plus the Phillies-Braves and Mets-Pirates games and it makes for a really interesting sports betting day.
