Boygenius' Lucy Dacus confirms Taylor Swift song lyric name drop is her: 'She actually texted me'
Musician Lucy Dacus is coming clean about that "Lucy" namedrop in the title track of Taylor Swift's 11th studio album, revealing what many fans — including us here at Entertainment Weekly — assumed, namely, that it's Dacus that Swift is referring to.
For those unfamiliar with the tune, Swift sings, "Sometimes, I wonder if you're gonna screw this up with me / But you told Lucy you'd kill yourself if I ever leave / And I had said that to Jack about you, so I felt seen / Everyone we know understands why it's meant to be / 'Cause we're crazy."
When asked about the mention in an interview with PEOPLE, Dacus said, "I think it's fair game to say 'yes.' [Swift] actually texted me and asked for my approval."
Dacus, a member of the indie rock group Boygenius (which also consists of singer-songwriters Julien Baker and Phoebe Bridgers), just released a new album — her fourth solo record, Forever Is a Feeling, via Geffen Records on Friday. To PEOPLE, she also revealed her reaction to the The Tortured Poets Department when she first heard it.

"Well, I pushed play on the album just like, 'Oh, this is so crazy,'" Dacus recalled. "This is the first Taylor record to come out since meeting her, and listening to a friend's record feels so much different than a stranger's record."
She continued: "So I was like, 'This is really weird. This voice that I've heard basically what feels like my whole waking life saying my name.'"
"It was definitely an experience," said Dacus. "I sat down and I was like, 'Huh. Wow.' But I think that that record of hers is super open-hearted, and I don't know how many people at her level, if anyone is at her level, are writing from the heart that openly."
Swift traditionally remains mum on who her songs are about, but in addition to Dacus, it seems that frequent collaborator Jack Antonoff and ex Matty Healy get mentions on "Tortured Poets," as do fellow musicians Charlie Puth, Dylan Thomas, and Patti Smith.

Forever Is a Feeling's release comes replete with a special performance video for new single "Bullseye," featuring Hozier. The album's debut single, 'Ankles,' was launched with a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in January.
Dacus will also embark on the Forever Is A Feeling Tour beginning in Philadelphia on April 16. The tour, her largest to date, includes Radio City Music Hall in New York, two nights at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles, and a night at Red Rocks in Denver before heading to the UK and Europe in June.

It was reported that the "Pretty Little Baby" singer, 87, was in the hospital early Wednesday morning, according to the Facebook page of radio personality Cousin Brucie. Hours later, Francis announced that she was 'back in hospital' and 'undergoing tests and checks to determine the cause(s) of the extreme pain' she has been suffering from. The singer previously revealed to PEOPLE that a hip injury has temporarily landed her in a wheelchair, but it is unclear what caused her hospital visit. 'I had hoped to take part in Brucie's show for Independence Day, having had to cancel a previous slot a few weeks ago when receiving treatment on my hip,' she wrote, referencing Cousin Brucie's earlier Facebook announcement. 'Sadly, I had to let him know that I again had to withdraw. My thanks for your many get well soon messages. I will endeavor to keep you updated. Love, Connie.' Francis then shared a few hours later that after she received a series of tests and examinations, she was transferred out of the Intensive Care Unit and into a private room. 'Thank you all for your kind thoughts, words and prayers. They mean so much! Love, Connie,' she concluded her post. A representative for Francis directed PEOPLE to her Facebook posts when contacted for further information. In recent years, the singer's music has reached a new generation thanks to her song "Pretty Little Baby" going viral on TikTok, 63 years after she recorded it. Over 3 million TikTok users have lip-synced to the 1962 song's feel-good lyrics while showing off their children, pets or fashion game. As of early June, it racked up more than 10 billion views, sending it to No. 1 on both TikTok's Viral 50 and Top 50 charts. 'To tell you the truth, I didn't even remember the song!' she told PEOPLE exclusively in May. 'I had to listen to it to remember. To think that a song I recorded 63 years ago is touching the hearts of millions of people is truly awesome. It is an amazing feeling.' 'It's an honor,' Francis continued. 'To see that they're paying homage to me is just breathtaking.' Francis, whose other hits include 'Stupid Cupid,' 'Lipstick on Your Collar,' 'Everybody's Somebody's Fool," and 'Who's Sorry Now,' is surprised by the success of the song. However, she theorized it's so popular because 'it's innocent and pure, and this is a time when everything is in such chaos." Francis retired from the music industry in 2018 and has since settled in South Florida. But the TikTok boost provided her an unexpected victory lap for her and her legendary career. 'It's truly awesome. I never thought it was possible. It's a dream come true," she said. "To think that kindergarten kids now know my name and my music? It's just thrilling!' Travis Kelce, Taylor Swift hit a big ‘turning point' in their relationship
Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are enjoying some downtime after a chaotic year for the pop icon and NFL star. And that has been a big boost for their relationship, one source told People, calling it a 'turning point for their relationship' and that the couple is 'incredibly happy and in sync.' 'There's a calmness and ease to their relationship right now that's been really grounding for Taylor and Travis,' the insider told the outlet. Kelce concluded his 2024 NFL season when the Chiefs fell to the Eagles in the Super Bowl in February after Swift wrapped up her Eras Tour a few months earlier in December, which has made the past few months some of the first time the couple has had to themselves. The two have kept a lower profile during the slower-paced time, though they have started to step out into public view a bit more recently. 3 Taylor Swift celebrates with Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs after defeating the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the AFC Championship Game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on January 26, 2025 in Kansas City, Missouri. Getty Images 'Taylor and Travis are soaking up every minute of this slower season together,' the source said. 'They've been splitting their time between New York, Nashville, and a few quiet getaways, just enjoying each other's company without all the usual chaos. This kind of downtime is rare for both of them, and it's really allowed their bond to deepen.' Last month, Kelce and Swift appeared at Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final in Florida, drawing plenty of eyeballs to the couple as they watched the Panthers and Oilers duke it out. And, less than two weeks ago, the loved-up pair enjoyed a surprise date night in New York as they were seen at the swanky Nolita restaurant Torrisi. 3 Travis Kelce, left, and Taylor Swift react as the Edmonton Oilers and the Florida Panthers play during the first period in Game Four of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final at Amerant Bank Arena on June 12, 2025 in Sunrise, Florida. Getty Images Swift and Kelce have been spotted out at various hot spots around Manhattan and the country since they went public with their relationship in 2023, but the 'guy on the Chiefs' pushed back on any notion that they step out together purely for the attention. 'We're having fun with it, being a couple,' Kelce said during a recent episode of 'Bussin' With The Boys.' 'It gets thrown out there that we're trying to seek attention now and then, and we're just enjoying life, having fun, going to hockey games, kind of introducing her to some more of the sports world that she hasn't really [seen]… [Stanley Cup] was fun, man.' The NFL season is rapidly approaching, and the source told People that Swift was 'really looking forward' to the upcoming season, especially with the past struggles of managing time to see Kelce and traveling for her world tour. 'This fall will be completely different,' the person said. 'It's the first season where she's not constantly flying back and forth or working around an entire touring calendar. 3 Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Mahomes watch a match during the 2024 U.S. Open. Annie Wermiel/NY Post 'The past two seasons were a whirlwind between performing across multiple countries, long flights, and trying to squeeze in alone time together wherever possible.' Swift only appeared at Chiefs games played in Kansas City last season, aside from her presence at the Super Bowl. In 2023, Swift was a large presence during the season and appeared at a number of games on the road, including a game at MetLife Stadium against the Jets on Oct. 1, 2023 in a suit that included stars Sabrina Carpenter, Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Hugh Jackman, Sophie Turner and Shawn Levy.

Nurse reveals how popular cosmetic procedure can negatively impact your sex life: ‘Skill set went down'
She couldn't feel a thing. When it comes to cosmetic procedures, there are many potential side effects — including an unexpected one that can affect your sex life. Brooke Carrero knows best — she's a registered nurse trained in aesthetic injections who tells it like it is when it comes to trendy cosmetic procedures women often want to get done, like lip flips on her TikTok page. Advertisement For patients who want to plump their top lip, dermatologists will inject Botox near the upper lip to relax the muscles to flip them upward. A lip flip is a cosmetic procedure that gives the upper lip a more plump appearance. Strelciuc – While the results might look great — there are many everyday activities lip flip patients often struggle with, including one dirty act, as explained by Carrero in a now-viral video. Advertisement 'Side effects of a lip flip: putting lip gloss on. When you put your lips together, it's hard to [rub in the gloss],' the nurse who's based in Philadelphia said in the clip. She went on to demonstrate how pronouncing certain letters like 'B' and 'P' is also challenging after getting this common procedure done. 'Blowing out a candle,' Carrero said while trying to blow out a flame on a lighter. 'I can't do it,' she laughs. Advertisement 'You can't blow out a candle, which means you can't blow anything,' she shockingly told over 4 million viewers, most likely insinuating that a lip flip patient cannot perform oral sex on a guy. That side effect stopped many in their tracks. Carrero got honest with her viewers about all the effects lip flip patients can experience. New Africa – 'The whole blowing thing absolutely not.' Advertisement 'talked me right out of it.' 'Well, never mind then lol.' In an interview with People, the nurse went more into detail about how this procedure affected her sex life. 'My skill set probably went from a 10 down to a six.' 'I feel like I've gotten used to the way that my mouth kind of moves,' she told the outlet. Carrero said her husband is used to the different treatments she experiments with, and he 'laughs at me with my side effects.' She's not the only expert warning people against this popular procedure. 'This is something your dermatologist should tell you if you're considering getting a lip flip,' said NYC dermatologist Dr. Shereene Idriss in a TikTok video. Advertisement She mentioned how it practically ruined her birthday because — like Carrero warned — she couldn't blow out her birthday candles. 'The issue is, Botox takes a good 10 to 14 days to kick in, and when it's at that peak period of two to four weeks, it's very hard to move your upper lip,' she said. And many in the comment section of the derm's video shared their bad experience with lip flips. Advertisement 'I couldn't drink from a straw, it was ridiculous!' 'I regretted mine immediately and will never do it again!' 'It changed my smile.'
