According to the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) forecast, amidst the yellow alert, Delhi is to experience thunderstorm and lightning today. In a press release on July 5, IMD Delhi stated, 'Generally cloudy sky. Light to moderate rain accompanied with thunderstorm/lightning likely to occur over Delhi during next 2 days.' In a post on X (formerly twitter) the Regional Meteorological Centre issued a nowcast warning at 11.30 AM stating, 'Light to moderate rainfall accompanied with light thunderstorm and lightning is very likely to occur at Karnal (Haryana) Gangoh, Shamli, Baraut, Bagpat, Khekra (U.P.).' The post by RMC further highlights the possibility of light rainfall expected in several parts of Delhi in the next two hours. The areas to expect rainfall are Mundaka, Pashchim Vihar, Rajauri Garden, Budha Jayanti Park, Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Ghaziabad and Greater Noida. Delhi-NCR Monsoon Update: Key Updates IMD has predicted light rainfall for the next 4 to 5 days Delhi is expected to have maximum temperature hover around 33 – 35 degrees Celsius today The minimum temperature might settle between 26 – 28 degrees Celsius. The monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Suratgarh, Sirsa, Delhi, Lucknow, Varanasi, Daltonganj, Bankura, Digha and southeastwards to northeast Bay of Bengal, IMD said According to IMD's reports, Himachal Pradesh and adjoining Punjab might face an upper air cyclonic circulations at 1.5 km above mean sea level. A red alert warning has been issued for Himachal Pradesh and Maharashtra by the weather agency for expecting extremely heavy rainfalls on July 6. Nine states have made it to the IMD's orange alert list including Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal. 'Extremely heavy rainfall (≥21 cm) very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh on 06th July' stated IMD adding, 'Extremely heavy rainfall (≥21 cm) very likely at isolated places over Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra on 06th & 07th July.'
