Chief Minister does not trust government hospitals, flying to U.S. for treatment: Rajeev Chandrasekhar
Mr. Vijayan flew to the U.S. on Saturday for follow-up medical check-ups as part of his ongoing treatment.
He is expected to be away for around 10 days, his office had said on Friday, without providing further details.
Mr. Vijayan had previously visited the U.S. for medical treatment in 2022.
Taking a dig at the Chief Minister's U.S. trip, Mr. Chandrasekhar, in a Facebook post, said, '...the same CM who claims Kerala is number one in healthcare used public funds to fly to America for his own treatment. Even Pinarayi Vijayan doesn't trust Kerala's government hospitals!' The BJP leader alleged that the Left government's 'much-hyped' Kerala healthcare model was being exposed as a 'hollow facade.'
'Medicine shortages, medical negligence, staff scarcity, and crumbling infrastructure have become daily realities. Even doctors are speaking out, revealing the system's deep failures,' he contended.
He also alleged that the State government makes 'grand healthcare announcements' and then 'slashes' funds during implementation.
Mr. Chandrasekhar also accused the Left government of 'bleeding Kerala's healthcare sector dry'.
Neither the Chief Minister nor the State government have yet reacted to the BJP leader's allegations.

They have lost family members, houses have been washed away, several people are still missing, but we can only console the families who have lost their kin, and now it is time to provide relief." RAIN WREAKS HAVOC IN HIMACHAL Fourteen people have died, and a search is on for 31 missing, as cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides caused massive destruction. More than 150 houses, 106 cattle sheds, 31 vehicles, 14 bridges, and several roads suffered damage in the disaster. A total of 164 cattle have perished. About 200 roads have been rendered out of bounds for traffic, while 236 transformers and 278 supply schemes have been disrupted in Mandi district as of Sunday morning, according to the state emergency operation centre.

Surya questions BMRCL over Metro yellow line delay
Bengalur: BharatiyaJanata Party MP Tejasvi Surya has once again raised strong objection to the repeated delays in launching the commercial operations of Bengaluru's much-awaited Yellow Line. The MP, along with several BJP leaders and supporters, staged a protest near Lalbagh on July 5, demanding immediate commencement of operations. The protest, organized by the BJP, saw the participation of multiple legislators and parliamentarians, including MLA CK Ramamurthy and MP PC Mohan. The group marched from Lalbagh East Gate towards the BMRCL (Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited) MD's office, voicing frustration over the repeated postponement of the launch of yellow line. Addressing the protestors, Tejasvi Surya said, 'Metro and buses are vital public transport systems. But the key yellow line connecting south Bengaluru to Electronic City has not opened even after four years of delay. It was scheduled to begin in 2021, and even now, there's no clarity.' He further questioned the BMRCL on the recent 100% hike in Metro fares, asking why such an increase was implemented without transparency. 'Where is the fare revision report? The public deserves to know. BMRCL must make the fare determination committee's report public,' Surya demanded. BMRCL MD Maheshwar Rao had previously stated that the yellow line is expected to be operational by August 15, but growing public discontent is mounting pressure on the authorities. Police had deployed KSRP vehicles and security personnel to manage the protest and ensure order as hundreds marched protesting the delays. The BJP has accused the BMRCL of inefficiency and is pressing for greater accountability, especially with the yellow llne considered critical for decongesting the city's southern tech corridor.
