'Slow Horses' renewed for Season 7 ahead of Season 5 premiere
July 8 (UPI) -- Slow Horses has been renewed for Season 7, Apple TV+ shared Tuesday.
The news arrives ahead of the show's Season 5 premiere, set for Sept. 24.
Gary Oldman stars as Jackson Lamb, the man in charge of MI5's worst spies, in the dark comedy.
Season 5 will see the group try to figure out the deal with Roddy Ho's (Christopher Chung) "glamorous new girlfriend."
"Slow Horses has won fans all over the world with its unique mix of self-deprecating British humor and high-octane action," said Apple TV+ executive Jay Hunt in a statement. "I'm delighted viewers will have another season to enjoy Gary's magnificent performance as Jackson Lamb alongside the Slow Horses' slightly inept spycraft."
The series, inspired by Mick Herron's Slough House books, got the green light for Season 6 in October.
Slow Horses also stars Jack Lowden, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Samuel West, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Joanna Scanlan and Jonathan Pryce.

The new brunette Barbie is the latest in a line of dolls the American toy giant has rolled out, following criticism that the doll did not represent real women. Mattel has said it hopes the latest addition to the Barbie range will help young people living with type 1 diabetes feel more confident. The condition, which causes a person's blood sugar level to become too high, affects more than 450,000 people in the UK. British model Lila Moss, daughter of Kate Moss, has been collaborating with the company on a personalised doll in her image for months. The 22-year-old, who has had the condition since she was 12, has been replicated in a blonde Barbie with a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on her right arm, an insulin pump on her left thigh and a personal diabetes manager device in her handbag. The company's mainline doll with type 1 diabetes also has all the medical gear of Moss's, but is brunette instead of blonde and wears a polka dot navy skirt set instead of a black dress. After the announcement, Moss told Vogue: 'I have such fun memories of being at my grandma's house and playing with a Barbie Malibu Dreamhouse as a child. 'Raising awareness for [type 1 diabetes] has always been really important to me, but I think creating this Barbie has also been a sort of healing experience for that little girl.' The model, who has worked with high-end brands including Versace and Burberry, has already inspired others by showing her CGM and insulin pump through her work, including taking her Omnipod pump to the 2022 Met Gala. 'When I first started going out and doing these things, I got so many messages from people saying that seeing me helped them, or their children, feel more proud and represented,' Moss said. ‘Daniela Forever' Review: His Girlfriend's Back
Since his feature debut, 'Timecrimes' (2008), the Spanish writer-director Nacho Vigalondo has carved out a niche as a reliable purveyor of clever, science-fiction-tinged genre fare that makes few claims to be much more than that. His latest, the likable if plodding 'Daniela Forever,' continues in that agreeably unpretentious vein. Alternating between a retro video format and glossy widescreen to differentiate two parallel realities, the film concerns Nicolas (Henry Golding), a British DJ living in Madrid. In the drab video segments, he is mourning his girlfriend, an Italian artist named Daniela (Beatrice Grannò), after she has been fatally struck by a car. A friend (Nathalie Poza) invites the grieving Nicolas to participate in a hush-hush clinical trial run by a group of Belgian scientists. They are testing a drug that enables takers to have lucid dreams. But rather than follow the researchers' exercises, Nicolas uses his lucid dreams — portrayed in the widescreen sections — to resurrect Daniela. Around her, Nicolas builds a world that is superficially suited to her desires but even more suited to his own. This world unavoidably conjures memories of Christopher Nolan's 'Inception' and Michel Gondry's 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,' antecedents from which Vigalondo does surprisingly little to deviate. (The emptied-out cityscapes look like lo-fi Nolan, and a motif in which Nicolas and Daniela cosplay as a vampire and a shark is pure Gondry.) The philosophical window dressing — would you rather your loved one live a better life if it meant living without you? — doesn't play to Vigalondo's strengths.
