Huge noughties TV star's incredible transformation after shedding almost 20stone
Actors often get pigeonholed into roles based on their physical appearance. However, a renowned sitcom star, tired of being referred to as the "fat one," underwent a dramatic transformation, losing nearly 20 stone.
During the early 2000s, Ethan Suplee became a familiar face in several classic sitcoms, including Boy Meets World, My Name Is Earl, and Remember the Titans. However, in 2001, at 24, Suplee struggled with an unhealthy relationship with food, which caused a sharp weight increase.
That same year, after enrolling in a rehab centre for his substance addictions, Suplee could not be weighed on a standard scale, so he used a shipping facility's freight scale. This indicated his weight to be around 536 pounds or about 37 stone.
At the time, his weight was causing congestive heart failure.
Despite his rehabilitation, Suplee put on another 14 pounds initially. Discussing his habits with Today, he confessed: "I'd eat and eat. It's what I'd always done.", reports the Irish Star.
He attributed his eating habits to the strict diet regimen enforced by his grandparents while growing up. It had the opposite effect: "It was coming from a place of love and concern, but it had this terrible reverse effect where I was like, 'OK. I'm just gonna sneak food whenever I possibly can.' And that became my habit. I would binge when nobody was looking.
"This quickly became an issue with the extensive catering on film and TV sets: "I'd fill my pockets and go back to my trailer. Then I'd hit a drive-thru and buy enough food to feed a small family and sit in my house alone and eat it."
However, following an extraordinary transformation, the actor has radically altered his lifestyle and dietary habits, managing to lose 300 pounds along the way.
He had experimented with various restrictive diets in the past, achieving some success, but inevitably, the weight would always return. It was in 2018 when he stumbled upon a TED Talk by Mike Isratel, which suggested that carbs might not be the culprit, but rather his relationship with food.
Starting his new regimen, he concentrated on calorie counting and consuming just the right amount of calories for his body to sustain a slight deficit.
Additionally, he switched to nutrient-rich foods like leafy greens, chicken, and salmon, which were satisfying without contributing to excessive calorie intake.
He explained: "As I became more calorie conscious, I started to binge less and fill up on healthier foods. After a few months of this, calories stopped being calories. They started being food."
Now a grandfather and father to four daughters, the desire for a lasting future became a driving force behind his journey. In a conversation with Mail Online, Suplee shared: "I wanted to have this long life with my girlfriend that I knew was impossible if I didn't do something about my weight.
"She liked to go to the beach, and I did not like to go to the beach. She liked to go to museums, she liked to go hiking. She liked to go on walks just to enjoy the walk, and I couldn't do any of that stuff with her.
"Now she never asked me to [lose weight], but I knew that in the long term, our relationship would not survive if I didn't confront this."

Real reason Matty Healy skipped Charli xcx and The 1975 bandmate George Daniel's wedding
While George's bandmates, Ross and Adam, were in attendance, lead singer Matty Healy didn't attend the ceremony. The newly married couple even walked to Hackney Town Hall Charli XCX and The 1975 drummer George Daniel have married, but one bandmate was nowhere to be seen on their big day. The pair looked over the moon as they posed outside Hackney Town Hall on Saturday. Brat queen Charli looked sensational in a white mini-dress, with a heart-shaped neckline, as she held onto her bouquet of flowers while posing for pictures. Their wedding comes just days after George returned to the UK, having been in Ibiza with his bandmates, including Matty Healy, for his stag do. Amidst reports that the couple would be splashing the cash and inviting dozens of famous faces, the Mirror can reveal that Charli and George tied the knot in front of just 20 of their closest friends and family. Shunning the huge showbiz aspect of their lives, the newly married couple even walked to Hackney Town Hall. While George's bandmates, Ross MacDonald and Adam Hann, were in attendance, lead singer Matty Healy didn't attend the ceremony. Which may have come as a shock to fans as they have spent over two decades writing, recording, and touring together, cementing a friendship. It turns out Matty was in LA for the screening of I Know What You Did Last Summer, in which his fiancée Gabbriette Bechtel stars in. On Friday evening, the singer was spotted arriving at the venue dressed in a leather jacket over a white top with a red lightning bolt, paired with blue jeans. Matty, who has been linked to Gabbriette since September 2023, appeared in good spirits as he left his vehicle and headed into the event. Despite his absence at the wedding Matty reportedly attended his pal's stag do earlier this week which took place in Ibiza, reports MailOnline. Fans have been left gushing over the newlyweds, with one writing: "She looks so good." A second penned: "OMG, shut up she looks beautiful." "Congratulations, Charli and George," said a third. Meanwhile, a fourth exclaimed: "Pop royalty just got their crown. Congrats to Charli and George!" Other fans speculated on why Matty wasn't at the couple's big day in London. "i hateeeee speculating but I wonder what George thought when Matty said he couldn't make it to his wedding lmao if it was my best mate I'd have probably never spoken to him anymore but that's just me," one penned on Twitter (X). Another argued: "Apparently that was just the 'official' wedding and they're having more of a party wedding soon because there were LOADSSSS of people who weren't there." A third mused: "Matty probably wanted to be good to both George and Gabi, that's why he chose Ibiza over the 'I know what you did last summer' premiere and Gabi's movie party over the wedding. All I can personally see here is a kind man, definitely not a pos." One sarcastically added: "oh yes matty totally hates charli and george it's almost like he never called her "my best friend" on the glasto stage not even a month ago and then cried in george's arms when the show ended, of course the evil monster gabbriette made them fight and plots on the band's demise."

00s pop icon reveals how crystal meth addiction 'almost killed' him
S Club 7's Jon Lee has opened up about his past struggles with drugs and how crystal meth 'almost killed' him. The pop star rose to prominence in 1998 when the band was formed by ex-Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller, also comprising Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Bradley McIntosh, Jo O'Meara, Hannah Spearritt, and Rachel Stevens. Lee rejoined the pop group for smaller reunions in the 2010s, including the 2023 arena tour, which took place without Spearritt, who left when Cattermole died of heart failure. In a new interview, the 43-year-old singer has admitted he once spent £250 per week on crystal meth, a habit that began long after S Club's heyday. It also led to him being sectioned in 2019. 'I didn't even recognise myself at that time,' he recalled. 'Sometimes, in the midst of one of the psychotic episodes where I'd be smashing my flat up with a hammer, I'd catch sight of myself in the mirror and say, 'What the f**k?'' Crystal meth, a highly addictive recreational and performance-enhancing drug, can boost energy levels and confidence in the short term, but its longer-term health impacts can be devastating, such as serious depression, anxiety, memory loss, aggression, and hallucinations. On how it took over his life, Lee reflected to MailOnline: 'I'd have a moment of lucidity, thinking, 'I was a successful young man; I had a brilliant career, incredible life. What am I doing?'' There were points when he found himself with 'holes in the walls around [him]' and 'cuts all over [his] knuckles', as well as a 'swollen eye' from punching himself in the head. Lee would sleep with a hammer underneath his bed, once breaking down his bathroom door out of paranoia after hallucinations convinced him there were other people in his apartment. 'I didn't look anything like Jon from S Club, or what people would expect Jon from S Club to look like,' he admitted, having also shaved his head in his thirties. His addiction struggles came to a head when concerned neighbours called police, after which the Reach hitmaker was sectioned, having been transported to a clinic via ambulance. Acknowledging that he was a 'danger to [himself]', he said someone would sit outside his room, and he had to leave the door open. Lee, who also took the party drug GHB, which is a type of liquid ecstasy, now has immense 'regret' for what his family went through during that period. 'I'm not sure how I'm still here,' he stated, having previously taken four times the dose in his darkest moments with the intention of not waking up the next day. He also used hard drugs as a distraction from his grief after his dad's death from Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in 2014. While once unable to leave his flat for days on end, Lee went travelling three years ago to find himself. In India, he met a rescue dog, which he claims gave him a new purpose, resulting in him returning to the UK in 2022 with three rescues of his own. Lee moved to Cornwall, living next door to his mum and sister. Career-wise, Lee is set to appear on the next series of Celebs Go Dating. And it's believed Lee found the love he was looking for in the pre-recorded E4 series, as he's now said to be dating Jordan Fairhurst. More Trending The performer, who came out publicly as gay in 2010, is said to have felt sparks fly 'instantly' upon meeting his new boyfriend under the dating agency. 'There was a real connection there from the get-go, and things developed really quickly,' a source told The Sun. 'They have been on a few dates on the show, but now they are official and in a full-blown relationship.' 'Jon never expected to find something serious on the show, but Jordan really took him by surprise,' added the insider. 'Fans will see how the relationship develops on the show, but it's one of the love stories of the series. It's all very sweet.' Martine McCutcheon declared bankrupt for second time months after marriage split
Actress and singer Martine McCutcheon has been declared bankrupt, 11 months on from her marriage split. The ex-EastEnders star began dating Jack McManus in 2009, and they married in 2012 before announcing their separation last year. Now, it has been revealed that the 49-year-old has filed a petition for insolvency due to a debt to a finance company. As official public records state, Love Actually actress Martine made the filing just two months after selling her family home, which she did at a slashed price, knocking £250,000 off the £1.5million Surrey pad for a faster sale. According to MailOnline, Martine's bankruptcy order was made in her married name—Martine McManus—despite her being single at the time. The order was issued in March at the County Court in Guildford, Surrey, after the company LDF Finance filed a petition. It has not been specified how much money Martine owes them. This is the second time Martine has been declared bankrupt. Her first came in February 2013 at a High Court in London, even though she was said to be earning more than £250k a year then. Shortly after the bankruptcy became public knowledge, Martine took to social media with a message for her followers. 'I can't begin to express my love and gratitude for such kind and encouraging messages. I'm truly so touched. I love you guys. Thank you. Xx', she wrote on X, then Twitter. Martine, known for playing Tiffany Mitchell, was then discharged from bankruptcy on January 2, 2014. Also within a year of their wedding day, Martine faced serious financial hardship as debts mounted. Consequently, she had to sell the £25,000 engagement ring Jack proposed to her with. 'I just thought my health, money, career have all been taken from me, and now even my engagement ring—the one thing that represents what is solid in my life—has gone,' she said woefully at the time. Back to present day, alas, her second bankruptcy isn't the only financial issue facing Martine as she navigates her divorce. Last month, her company, Raven Music Ltd, allegedly faced off with HMRC over unpaid tax bills, owing over £175k. It comes after Martine released a statement confirming she and Jack, with whom she shares a 10-year-old son, were parting ways. 'After much thought and consideration, Jack has decided it's best for us to separate after 18 years together and I accept his decision,' she previously wrote on Instagram. 'We are both so very blessed and grateful for our beautiful, 9 year old son Rafferty, whose happiness and welfare, has always been, and will continue to be, our number one priority.' She added that both parties 'still cherish and look forward to being parents together to [their] wonderful boy for the rest of [their] lives'. 'Whilst this decision has evolved over a period of time, we are still finding our new way forward as a family and kindly ask for some privacy at this time… Especially for our little boy,' penned Martine. 'Our love for Rafferty is something that will never, waver, or change and we obviously want to protect him and help him feel as safe and secure as possible.' She concluded by thanking fans for their 'respect and support' through the 'difficult' time, also wishing Jack 'all the love, luck, and happiness for the next chapter' of his life. Martine and songwriter Jack first met at a music event in London, with the soap star recalling that it was pretty much love at first sight. 'We laid eyes on each other, and that was it,' she said. 'When we met, something very wonderful happened. 'I thought when I met The One. I'd be shouting it from the rooftops, because that's the sort of person I am. But it was like a quiet contentedness. More Trending 'It was so calm and warm, and I felt, for once, that I didn't need to brag. I think he felt the same.' They tied the knot five years later in a lavish Lake Como ceremony. Even that came with an unprecedented price, though, with Jack confessing afterwards that 'hidden costs' were incurred, forcing them to pay 'thousands' to the mafia to let off fireworks.
