Spurs Announce Jersey Deal With Paris-Based Digital Asset Security Firm Ledger
The Spurs have long had an enormous following in France, with players like Tony Parker and Boris Diaw playing for San Antonio before the team drafted Wembanyama in 2023. 'This moment cements a decades-long history of international collaboration and growth by the Spurs organization as the game of basketball has grown to touch every culture and continent,' said RC Buford, the CEO of Spurs Sports & Entertainment. It is a multi-year deal, but specific terms were not announced.

Ledger is a relatively new company. It was started 10 years ago to help safeguard digital assets for cryptocurrency users. It has grown wildly since, now used by millions of individuals around the world to secure more than 20 percent of all crypto.
'Aligning ourselves with an historic US sports team, which boasts a deep French connection past and present, will help us onboard the next generation of sovereign individuals,' said Pascal Gauthier, Chairman & CEO of Ledger. 'The San Antonio Spurs, at the heart of America in Texas, is the future of the league, growing their fandom rapidly and the most international team the NBA has to offer.'
The Spurs have had players from more than 30 countries play for the organization. They will debut their new Ledger-branded jerseys at the NBA draft on Wednesday. They currently have the No. 2 and No. 14 picks in the first round. The first game with the new patch will be at the California Classic summer league on July 5, and the patches will be on both the San Antonio and the G League's Austin Spurs jerseys.
Also in the deal: Ledger will join the Spurs' ongoing community efforts in Paris, which started earlier this year with the team launching a multi-year plan to renovate outdoor basketball courts. Ledger also becomes the presenting partner of Spurs Tech & Basketball Camp, which uses sports and technology applications to engage school-aged participants ages 10–14 – connecting young basketball players with science, technology, engineering, and math and showing how all those elements are tied to the game.

Schanuel Walks With Bases Loaded in 9th to Lift Angels Over Rangers 6-5
Nolan Schanuel drew a bases-loaded walk from Hoby Milner in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Los Angeles Angels a 6–5 win over the Texas Rangers on Monday night. Travis d'Arnaud hit an early two-run homer off Texas starter Jacob deGrom and finished with three RBIs. Corey Seager launched a two-run shot off Yusei Kikuchi to put the Rangers ahead 2–0 two batters into the game. Josh Smith had an RBI double for Texas that tied it at 5 in the eighth. For all the latest headlines, follow our Google News channel online or via the app. Luis Rengifo doubled off Rangers reliever Chris Martin (0–5) to open the ninth and went to third on Kevin Newman's one-out single to left field. Zach Neto was intentionally walked to load the bases. Texas manager Bruce Bochy summoned Milner for a lefty–lefty matchup with Schanuel, who fought back from an 0–2 count before taking a 3–2 changeup below the strike zone for his second career walk-off RBI. The Angels turned a 4–3 deficit into a 5–4 lead in the sixth when Rengifo singled with two outs, d'Arnaud hit an RBI double, and LaMonte Wade Jr. followed with a pinch-hit RBI single. But the Rangers tied it against reliever Sam Bachman with two outs in the eighth. Jake Burger reached on a wild pitch when strike three in the dirt got past d'Arnaud and then scored from first on Smith's double. An anticipated pitchers' duel between All-Star starters didn't materialize as deGrom gave up three runs and five hits in five innings while Kikuchi allowed four runs and six hits in five innings.

Sami Whitcomb Scores 36 and Alyssa Thomas Has 16th Triple-Double in Mercury's Win Over Wings
Sami Whitcomb scored 29 of her career-high 36 points in the first half. Alyssa Thomas had her 16th career triple-double, and the Phoenix Mercury beat the Dallas Wings 102–72 on Monday night to avoid their first three-game losing streak of the season. Whitcomb's 29 first-half points were the most scored by a WNBA player in any half this season. Whitcomb scored 22 points in the opening 12 minutes to help Phoenix build a 33–21 lead. She made 10 of her first 12 field goals, with her sixth 3-pointer giving Phoenix a 46–33 lead. Whitcomb was fouled on a 3-point attempt with 8:27 left in the third quarter and made two free throws to set a new career high with 31 points. She missed the third free throw, but Phoenix got the offensive rebound, and Whitcomb drained a 3-pointer for a 59–42 lead. Whitcomb, who entered with a season high of 18 points, finished 12 of 19 from the field, including 7 of 11 from 3-point range. Thomas had 15 points, 15 assists, and 10 rebounds for Phoenix (13–6), which reached the century mark for the third time in five games. Satou Sabally (right ankle) missed her first game of the season. JJ Quinerly scored 18 points, and Aziaha James added 15 for Dallas (6–14). Paige Bueckers scored 11 in 24 minutes. The Wings were without starters Arike Ogunbowale (left thumb) and DiJonai Carrington (rib). The Mercury avenged a 98–89 loss on Thursday to the Wings, who were the first team in 25 years to start four rookies. Free agent six-time All-Star DeWanna Bonner, who was waived by the Indiana Fever on June 25, sat courtside. Multiple outlets reported that Bonner, who won two WNBA titles with Phoenix, is expected to sign with the Mercury in the coming days. Thomas, Bonner's fiancée, was traded to Phoenix during the offseason after getting the franchise tag from Connecticut.

Injured All Blacks captain Scott Barrett ruled out of the test series against France
All Blacks captain Scott Barrett has been ruled out of New Zealand's second and third rugby tests against France after injuring his ankle in the series-opening win. Barrett was replaced midway through the second half of the first test in Dunedin, which the All Blacks won 31–27. Scans have since revealed a tear in Barrett's calf muscle. Backrower Ardie Savea will lead the All Blacks in the second test at Wellington on Saturday. The All Blacks have yet to name a replacement for Barrett at lock. All Blacks assistant coach Scott Hansen said Barrett is 'a massive part of the team. We're obviously disappointed to lose the skip, but we've got to go forward. We trust our depth. There is an opportunity for someone else to step up.' Hansen said it isn't yet clear how long Barrett will be sidelined. 'We'll just take it week by week,' he said. 'He'll be keen to get back as quickly as possible, but we obviously have to do what's right for him in the injury process.'
