Caitlin Clark Turns Heads With Response to WNBA Commissioner's Big Reveal
Caitlin Clark Turns Heads With Response to WNBA Commissioner's Big Reveal originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Due to two separate injuries, Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark has missed seven games this season. Advertisement The first five absences resulted from a left quadriceps injury, while the most recent absences have stemmed from a groin injury. Unlike the first injury that saw her immediately declared out for at least a couple of weeks, the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year told ESPN on Sunday that she is "day-to-day" with the groin injury. However, fans around the WNBA have begun to put on their conspiracy theory hats after the Indiana Fever released a video of Clark speaking with WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert. As shared to social media on Sunday, Engelbert called Fever coach Stephanie White to relay the news that Clark would be a WNBA All-Star captain, after receiving a league-high 1,293,526 fan votes. In that same conversation, Engelbert also wished the Fever luck for their WNBA Commissioner's Cup Championship game against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday. Advertisement A message that led Clark to express her confidence in the team's chances. "Yeah, we about to get that dub Cathy," Clark said. While Clark may have been doing it for laughs from her teammates, she also sparked speculation that she'd be returning to the court. "We about to get that dub, Cathy. So she'll be playing? I hope," said one fan. "All i heard was 'we," wrote another. " playing?? 😭," questioned a third. "She might be playing 👀," commented another fan. "All I heard is she's playing. My goat 😭❤️😭❤️😭," added another. "She might be playing? 👀👀👀," said another. Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark (22).Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagn Images The Fever are likely hopeful she can return as they have gone 3-4 on the year without her. If she does return, she will likely be hoping to snap out of her rough patch from deep, as she is 1-of-23 from 3 in her last three appearances. Advertisement Whether she plays or not, the show must go on. Tuesday's game will tip at 8:00 p.m. ET at the Target Center and will air on Prime Video. What Penn State players are in Matt Miller's mid-summer 2026 mock draft?
Penn State has historically been one of the top college football programs, sending talent off through the NFL draft. The early indications for the 2026 NFL draft suggest the Nittany Lions will be prominent in the draft next spring as well, and a couple of players are projected to be first-round draft picks. ESPN's Matt Miller includes two Penn State players in his first mock draft for 2026 this far out. The first Penn State player off the board, according to Miller would be cornerback A.J. Harris, perhaps a slightly surprising pick off the Nittany Lions' roster. But Harris has the kind of skills NFL teams are searching for in defensive backs, and a good year in the secondary could give Harris a good first-round boost at the right time. Miller has Harris projected to go to the Washington Commanders with the 25th overall pick in the 2026 draft. Penn State has developed a nice reputation for players in the defensive secondary in recent years, and that may have been one of the reasons Harris opted to transfer to Penn State from the SEC when he did. Expect more hype for Harris moving forward. The next Penn State player off the board is one more mock drafts seem to have a little bit higher. That would be quarterback Drew Allar, who some have projected as one for the top quarterbacks off the board. Miller is a tad less optimistic about that being the case with a few passers going ahead of Allar, but a 27th overall pick by the Los Angeles Rams seems like a decent landing spot for Allar. Could Allar end up being the heir apparent to Super Bowl-winning quarterback Matthew Stafford? That seems like a good situation for Allar to be in if that ends up being the case. We will be watching the mock draft progress now until the 2026 draft to see where Allar and Harris (and others) end up being projected by some of the biggest names in the NFL draft community. There is a long way to go, so there could be many changes along the way. You can check out Miller's full mid-summer mock draft for 2026 via ESPN.

Stephen A. Smith Makes Opinion On Max Kellerman Extremely Clear
Stephen A. Smith Makes Opinion On Max Kellerman Extremely Clear originally appeared on The Spun. In a move that has been applauded by many, former ESPN First Take co-star Max Kellerman has returned to sports media and will return as a boxing analyst for the upcoming Terence Crawford versus Canelo Álvarez fight in September. Advertisement But one person who was at odds with Kellerman prior to his firing from ESPN and subsequent hiatus from working is Stephen A. Smith. So how does Smith feel about Kellerman returning to the fray? On the latest episode of the Stephen A. Smith Show, Smith seemed offended at the idea that he would be upset to see Kellerman back in sports media. He made it clear that he's happy for Kellerman and that the only issue he ever had with Kellerman was that he didn't want to work with him on First Take. 'They said that I was upset that Max Kellerman, my former colleague at ESPN on First Take, I got upset because he's gonna be calling the Terence Crawford and Canelo Álvarez fight in September?' Smith asked. 'They looked at my face and said I was upset.' 'I'm upset about Max Kellerman?' Smith continued. 'I have nothing against Max Kellerman. I didn't want to work with him on First Take anymore. That's all. I didn't think we were good partners for a debate show. If we were doing boxing, if we were doing SportsCenter or something like that, no problem. For a two-hour, daily debate show, I didn't think we worked any longer. That's all. Advertisement 'Never wanted him fired. Never wanted him unemployed. Happy he's back. Cause I don't wish for brothers not to get a check and not to be employed. Because that brother is brilliant and he deserves a check. And oh, by the way, you ain't gonna find anybody that knows more boxing than him. I'm happy for him! Even though his boy will lie his ass off and say otherwise because he gonna get more clicks. Y'all know who the hell it is.' Stephen A. Smith (Stephen Smith) on the ESPN NBA Countdown live set at Intuit Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn Images Kellerman was taken off First Take in 2021 and was ousted from ESPN entirely in 2023. He has been out of work for the better part of a year-and-a-half. Kellerman may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but there's little denying his acumen when it comes to boxing. He'll be right at home in his return to boxing coverage in September. Advertisement Related: Stephen A. Smith Believes Max Kellerman Is To Blame For 'First Take' Chemistry Issues Stephen A.
