4-star Oregon Ducks target Jalen Lott makes recruiting announcement

USA Today9 hours ago

The month of June was fun and exciting for the Oregon Ducks when it comes to the recruiting trail, with commitments from 5-star safety Jett Washington and 4-star wide receiver Messiah Hampton to show for it. It appears that July is shaping up to be even better.
Over the next couple of weeks, a handful of highly-rated prospects are scheduled to announce their commitments, and the Ducks are in a great position to land many of them. Among those expected announcements are 5-star OT Immanuel Iheanacho, 4-star S Devin Jackson, and 4-star LB Nick Abrams. On Saturday night, 4-star wide receiver Jalen Lott joined that group, announcing that he will make his commitment official on July 8.
Lott is down to a final five schools of Oregon, the Texas Longhorns, the Georgia Bulldogs, the USC Trojans, and the LSU Tigers. Earlier this month, a prediction landed on On3 for Lott to commit to the Trojans, but there is growing speculation that Oregon is right there in the mix for the highly-rated pass-catcher.
The 247Sports Composite rates Lott as the No. 49 overall player in the 2026 class and the No. 5 ATH.
While the prediction is only rated at a 50% confidence level, it still suggests that recruiting intel available indicates Lott, a Frisco, Texas native, may be leaning towards the Trojans. Before this latest prediction, it was Oregon and Texas who were considered the favorites. However, Lott's sister, Falyn, runs track at USC, so there is a family pull there.
We will seen in just over a week whether or not the Ducks are able to close the deal and get a second blue-chip receiver to Eugene as a member of the 2026 class.

Social media erupts after Alabama lands commitment from 2026 5-star linebacker

The Alabama Crimson Tide and head coach Kalen DeBoer have once again landed a commitment from yet another five-star prospect. Yes, for the second time this cycle, as well as the five time over the last two years, Alabama has landed a five-star prospect, as highly-touted linebacker Xavier Griffin announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Sunday. With the commitment of Griffin to Alabama, the Crimson Tide now have one of the nation's premier players on the defensive side of the ball in their class, one who ranks as the No. 27 overall prospect nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. In addition to that, Griffin also ranks as the nation's No. 2 overall linebacker, as well as the top player in the state of Georgia where he attends Gainesville High School. So, as expected with a prospect as highly-rated as Griffin is, social media erupted Sunday afternoon following the commitment of the five-star to Alabama, both across the Crimson Tide fanbase, as well as college football overall. Let's take a look at what some on social media were saying Sunday following the five-star committing to Alabama. Ohio State football loses out on 4-star 2026 defensive end to Michigan

The Ohio State football program has seen a mixed bag of recruiting results lately. It got good news on the defensive line the past few days, but then bad news followed with the loss of a couple of targets on Sunday. One of those misses came in a battle with Michigan for four-star defensive end Carter Meadows. Out of Washington, D.C., Ohio State made a big push for Meadows and was thought to be in the thick of the race to get him, but Michigan was able to close the deal late, winning a crucial battle between the two old rivals. The 6-foot, six-inch, 225-pounder is ranked as the No. 72 overall player and ninth edge rusher in the 2026 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings and was a priority for Ohio State. Now, it'll be back to tracking others still on the board to round out talent on the defensive line and edge. Penn State and South Carolina were also in play for Meadows. Things will continue to be up and down as we go through the summer and into the season on our way to more or less finalizing the 2026 recruiting class in December during the Early Signing Period. All bets are off in today's day and age of NIL, the transfer portal, and now direct revenue-sharing coming down the line. Michigan football's 2026 class hits top 10 with Carter Meadows' commitment

At this time last week, Michigan football wasn't even in the top 25 teams in terms of college football recruiting rankings. By Friday evening, the Wolverines were just outside the top 10. Now, they're firmly in it. That's because the maize and blue secured the commitment of 2026 Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga five-star edge rusher Carter Meadows on Sunday, helping propel a very good class into a potentially great one. With Meadows in the fold, he's already the highest-ranked commit that the Wolverines have, and now the top of the class is surging on top of the numbers growing. With Meadows in the fold, here is how Michigan rose in the 247Sports team rankings to No. 9 (up from 11), with an average rating of 91.13, and a total score of 241.49. With 18 commitments, Michigan is now ahead of Penn State, which has 23. Here is the full class using 247Sports Composite rankings: The class is expected to continue growing with four-star cornerback Andre Clarke set to decide on Monday, four-star nickel Donovan Webb set to decide on Wednesday, while four-star offensive lineman John Turntine III and five-star wide receiver Calvin Russell are set to decide on Friday. All but Turntine have at least one prediction indicating they'll choose the maize and blue. With Meadows off the board, there are but two big fish remaining in the 2026 class in the aforementioned Calvin Russell as well as Mineral (Va.) Louisa County five-star running back Savion Hiter.
