Social media erupts after Alabama lands commitment from 2026 5-star linebacker
The Alabama Crimson Tide and head coach Kalen DeBoer have once again landed a commitment from yet another five-star prospect.
Yes, for the second time this cycle, as well as the five time over the last two years, Alabama has landed a five-star prospect, as highly-touted linebacker Xavier Griffin announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Sunday.
With the commitment of Griffin to Alabama, the Crimson Tide now have one of the nation's premier players on the defensive side of the ball in their class, one who ranks as the No. 27 overall prospect nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
In addition to that, Griffin also ranks as the nation's No. 2 overall linebacker, as well as the top player in the state of Georgia where he attends Gainesville High School.
So, as expected with a prospect as highly-rated as Griffin is, social media erupted Sunday afternoon following the commitment of the five-star to Alabama, both across the Crimson Tide fanbase, as well as college football overall.
Let's take a look at what some on social media were saying Sunday following the five-star committing to Alabama.

Eagles First-Round Rookie Passes Major Off-Field Test
Eagles First-Round Rookie Passes Major Off-Field Test originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Philadelphia Eagles will not see first-round linebacker Jihaad Campbell on the field until training camp. The Alabama product is recovering from significant injuries to his shoulders and knees. Advertisement Despite the limited work he can do on the field, Campbell is doing everything he can to connect with his new teammates. Even if it means venturing out for a charity softball contest. Campbell was one of several Eagles players who attended DeVonta Smith's Celebrity Softball Game this weekend. For the rookie, it was a good chance to show his support for a new teammate and a former Alabama legend. "Came here to show my support for Smitty's contribution to the whole community," Campbell told the media. "It's definitely lit out there. Looked like a baseball game." Smith has been running the event for four seasons, and profits from it go to St. Luke's University Health Charities and Lehigh Valley IronPig Charities. Since arriving in Philly in 2021, he has been a staple in the community on and off the field. Advertisement The 26-year-old became the fifth player to win a National Championship, Heisman Trophy and Super Bowl. The last of those feats was accomplished in February when he became the first Alabama player in history to catch a touchdown pass in Philadelphia's 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Campbell has a long way to go before he can have the kind of impact Smith has over his career in Philly. However, a good way for a rookie like himself to stand out to veteran leaders like Smith is to show up whenever possible. Campbell did just that this weekend. And it should go a long way to helping out the rookie linebacker's immersion to the NFL world. Former Auburn basketball star Jabari Smith to sign $122M deal with Houston Rockets
AUBURN — Former Auburn basketball standout Jabari Smith Jr. has a new deal with the Houston Rockets, according to a report from ESPN's Shams Charania, in the form of a five-year, fully guaranteed $122 million rookie contract extension. Selected by Houston with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Smith's new contract should have him with the franchise through the 2030-31 campaign. Advertisement He remains part of a core that includes Fred VanVleet and Steven Adams. They'll be joined by newly acquired Kevin Durant for the 2025-26 season, fresh off earning the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference playoffs last year. Smith averaged averaged 12.2 points and 7.0 rebounds last season, despite breaking his left hand in January. Through three seasons, Smith has averaged 13.0 points and 7.5 rebounds in the NBA. According to Charania's report, Smith is the only player from his draft class who has recorded 2,500 points and 1,500 rebounds so far in their NBA careers. At Auburn, Smith averaged 16.9 points and 7.4 rebounds in his lone season with the program. Alongside fellow 2022 draft pick Walker Kessler, Smith helped Auburn to a 28-6 campaign, as well as a top-10 end-of-season ranking, despite the Tigers' round of 32 exit in that year's NCAA Tournament.
