Fresh batch of 6,482 Amarnath pilgrims leaves from Jammu

Jammu, July 11 (UNI) A fresh batch of 6,482 pilgrims of Shri Amarnath Yatra amid the chants of 'Bam Bam Bhole' this morning left for the holy cave shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas here from Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas.
Officials said that the pilgrims left from the Jammu base camp in a fleet of 268 vehicles.
"A fresh batch of 6,482 pilgrims this morning left for Shri Amarnath Yatra cave shrine in Kashmir from Jammu base camp amid tight security arrangements," they added.
They said that 4,129 pilgrims left for Pahalgam and 2,353 for Baltal in a fleet of 268 vehicles comprising light and heavy motor vehicles.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on July 2 flagged off the first batch of pilgrims from here.

New Delhi, July 11 (UNI) The Indian Army launched operation shiva 2025 in close coordination with the civil administration and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. This annual high-tempo operation aims to provide a robust security architecture along both the Northern and Southern Yatra routes, particularly in light of the heightened threat from Pakistan-backed proxies in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor. As part of this year's enhanced security framework, over 8,500 troops have been deployed, supported by a wide array of technological and operational resources. A dynamic counter-terrorism grid, prophylactic security deployment, and corridor protection measures have been instituted. Comprehensive assistance to civil authorities is also being provided, particularly in disaster management and emergency response. To neutralize drone threats, more than 50 anti-drone systems have been deployed. Drone missions are being conducted to monitor the pilgrimage routes and the holy cave. An engineer task force has been deployed for constructing bridges, widening tracks, and reducing disaster risks. To provide medical care to Amarnath pilgrims and others, more than 150 doctors and medical personnel, two advanced dressing stations, nine medical aid posts, a 100-bed hospital, and 26 oxygen booths equipped with 200,000 liters of oxygen have been set up. Signal companies for uninterrupted communication, EME units for technical support, and bomb disposal squads have also been deployed. Moreover, emergency rations for 25,000 persons, Quick Reaction Teams (QRT), tent cities, water points, and plant equipment including bulldozers and excavators have been arranged The Indian Army helicopters are on standby for any contingency response. A fresh batch of more than 7,300 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp here to join the annual Amarnath pilgrimage in the south Kashmir Himalayas ofJammu and Kashmir r on Thursday (July 10, 2025) morning, officials said. About 1.28 lakh pilgrims have paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine, located at a height of 3,880 metres, since the commencement of the 38-day annual yatra from the twin tracks of Pahalgam in Anantnag district and Baltal in Ganderbal district on July 3, the officials said. Ninth batch According to the officials, the ninth batch of 7,307 pilgrims — 5,534 men, 1,586 women, 25 children and 162 sadhus and sadhvis — left in 284 vehicles between 3:15 am and 3:58 am amid tight security. While 3,081 pilgrims left in 137 vehicles for the shorter but steeper 14-km Baltal route in Ganderbal district, 4,226 pilgrims left in 147 vehicles via the 48-km traditional Pahalgam route in Anantnag district. With this, a total of 62,788 pilgrims have departed from the Jammu base camp for the valley since July 2, when Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch. The Bhagwati Nagar base camp has been placed under a multi-tier security cover in the aftermath of the April 22 Pahalgam attack, which claimed 26 lives. More than 4 lakh people have registered online for the pilgrimage so far. The yatra will conclude on August 9. Last year, more than 5.10 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at the cave shrine, which houses a naturally formed ice lingam.
