Foldable iPhone tipped to launch in 2026, priced around $2,000 with 7.8-inch display: Report
According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, the foldable iPhone could debut alongside the iPhone 18 series. If accurate, this would mark Apple's most significant iPhone design shift since the iPhone X, and introduce a new form factor to the company's smartphone line-up.
Leaked details suggest that the device will likely adopt a book-style design, similar to Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold range, featuring a 7.8-inch foldable inner display and a 5.5-inch external cover screen. The handset is expected to measure approximately 4.5mm in thickness when unfolded and around 9mm when closed, positioning it among the thinnest foldable smartphones on the market.
Reportedly, the expected pricing places the foldable iPhone in the ultra-premium category, with projections hovering around $2,000, or roughly ₹ 1.72 lakh in India.
Apple's approach to new product categories is known for its cautious nature. Rather than being first to market, the company typically waits for technologies to mature before entering with its own iteration. In the case of foldables, Android manufacturers such as Samsung have already introduced multiple hardware generations, addressing issues like hinge durability and screen creases, problems Apple is reportedly aiming to avoid with an improved hinge system and thinner display materials.
The forthcoming device may also differ from recent iPhone models in other areas. Speculation suggests it could forgo FaceID in favour of a side-mounted TouchID sensor, possibly as a trade-off to maintain a slim profile. A new dual-lens rear camera system and a Meta Lens front camera are also said to be in development.
On the software front, iOS 27 is reportedly being tailored for the foldable format, with features designed to take advantage of the larger screen. Enhancements in multitasking, split-screen use, and potential support for the Apple Pencil are all being explored.
China is expected to be a key focus market for the foldable iPhone, given the growing popularity of foldable devices in the region. However, availability in other global markets remains uncertain, particularly for the first-generation model.

Sundar Pichai's Net Worth Hits $1.1 Billion After Alphabets Market Surge
Alphabet Inc.'s continued rally on the stock market has delivered a windfall not only for investors but also for its CEO, Sundar Pichai, who has now crossed the $1 billion net worth milestone. The 53-year-old, originally from Tamil Nadu, has seen his fortune rise to $1.1 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. This financial leap is driven largely by the surge in Alphabet's stock, which has soared over 120% since early 2023, adding over $1 trillion to the company's market capitalisation, reported Bloomberg. Unlike tech titans such as Meta's Mark Zuckerberg or Nvidia's Jensen Huang, who built their wealth through founding equity, Mr Pichai's ascent is distinct. He joined Google, now Alphabet's main subsidiary, in 2004, long after its 1998 founding. His early work on Chrome and Android laid the groundwork for his elevation to CEO in 2015. It was the same year Google restructured under the Alphabet umbrella. He was named the Alphabet CEO in 2019. Earlier this month, Mr Pichai became the company's longest-serving chief executive, completing nearly a decade at the helm. In Tamil Nadu, Mr Pichai's family lived in a two-room flat. They didn't have a car and only had a telephone when he was 12. In 1993, when he secured a scholarship to Stanford University, his parents spent over $1,000, more than his father's annual income, to buy a plane ticket to the US. 'One of the first things I did as CEO was to pivot the company to be focused on AI,' Mr Pichai told Bloomberg in an October 2024 interview. Alphabet has increased its investment in artificial intelligence under his leadership. An important turning point in the company's AI development was the $400-million acquisition of London-based DeepMind in 2014. Since then, Pichai has overseen a sharp rise in investment, with Alphabet spending close to $50 billion last year alone on AI infrastructure. The company released its second-quarter results in July 2025 that surpassed analyst projections. Alphabet shares climbed by 4.1% following the earnings announcement. It also disclosed a 16% rise in research and development spending. 'Our AI infrastructure investments are crucial to meeting the growth in demand for cloud customers,' Mr Pichai said on a July 23 call with analysts following the results release. Mr Pichai holds only 0.02% of Alphabet's stock, presently worth about $440 million. The rest of his wealth is primarily in cash, having offloaded over $650 million worth of stock in the past decade. Bloomberg estimates that his holdings would now be worth over $2.5 billion had he held on to all his shares.

ITC Chairman Puri unveils ₹20,000 crore expansion strategy at AGM 2025
Diversified conglomerate ITC Ltd plans to invest ₹20,000 crore over the medium term to scale up its manufacturing operations across multiple sectors, Chairman Sanjiv Puri announced at the company's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday. 'Our focus is on value accretion through new brand launches while reinforcing our footprint across India,' Puri said. The investment will enhance ITC's production capacity under its long-term growth strategy, with eight new manufacturing units already established in recent years. Puri reiterated ITC's commitment to its 'Bharat First' approach, which prioritises building a strong domestic presence before expanding globally. Q1 profit dips, but revenue grows 7.5% Earlier this month, ITC reported a marginal 0.26 per cent year-on-year decline in consolidated net profit for the April–June quarter (Q1 FY26), which stood at ₹5,091.59 crore, compared to ₹5,104.93 crore a year ago. The profit fell short of Bloomberg's estimate of ₹5,451 crore. However, consolidated gross revenue rose by 7.5 per cent to ₹20,029.60 crore. ITC described the quarterly performance as resilient despite a challenging macroeconomic environment. Growth was supported by cigarettes and non-cigarette FMCG, even as other segments faced pressure from subdued demand and a high base. At the AGM, Puri highlighted that 65 per cent of ITC's revenue now comes from non-cigarette businesses. Cigarettes see 5.8% revenue growth The cigarettes segment recorded a 5.8 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue to ₹8,842.22 crore. Pre-tax profit rose 6.29 per cent to ₹5,255.06 crore, aided by tax stability and enforcement measures that helped recover market share from illicit trade. FMCG business expands with packaged food and personal care Revenue from non-cigarette FMCG rose 6.3 per cent to ₹5,498.80 crore, with pre-tax profit increasing 10.4 per cent year-on-year to ₹479.17 crore. ITC attributed the growth to strong demand in packaged food and personal care categories. Hotel segment grows, but profits dip The hospitality segment saw revenue climb 14.29 per cent to ₹713.3 crore, but pre-tax profit declined 9 per cent to ₹122.21 crore. The dip was attributed to the operational impact of the newly launched luxury hotel, ITC Ratnadipa in Colombo. The company also added seven new managed properties during the quarter, including its first overseas Fortune Resort in Bhaktapur, Nepal. Paperboards face pricing pressure The Paperboards, Paper and Packaging segment recorded a 6.78 per cent drop in revenue to ₹1,976.85 crore, with pre-tax profit plunging 45.6 per cent to ₹256.15 crore. ITC cited high domestic wood prices and competition from low-cost Chinese imports as key challenges. Agri-business grows, but margins tighten Agri-business delivered strong top-line growth, with revenue up 22.19 per cent to ₹6,997.89 crore. However, pre-tax profit declined 2.2 per cent to ₹344.60 crore due to cost inflation in leaf tobacco and depreciation related to a new nicotine derivatives facility.
