Swift response leads to recovery of vehicles stolen from The Bluff
TWO cars that had been stolen from a home in Brighton Beach were recovered in Umlazi following a high speed chase recently.
According to Blue Security, the vehicles were stolen during a house robbery incident in Brighton Beach on May 5.

According to information received, two unknown armed suspects entered the premises in Brighton Beach and held up the family, demanding valuables.
Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU) for Blue Security received an urgent notification of a house robbery in the Brighton Beach area.
Community manager for Blue Security, Idan Smallan, said, 'Two vehicles, a white BMW and a silver Jetta were stolen, together with firearms, valuables and unauthorised cash transfers. The suspects were described as two armed men.'
Using Strategic Networked Intelligent Plate Recognition (SNIPR), Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology, Blue CCPU analysts swiftly identified the registrations of both vehicles.
'The offices established a precise timeline of their movements. Within minutes, an alert was broadcast to all patrol units, ensuring maximum coverage and vigilance.
'Blue Security have sponsored those ANPR cameras for The Bluff and within a week of installation it has already led to a successful recovery of the stolen Jetta, as well as helping with other cases that may be ongoing,' Smallan added.

Acting on real time intelligence, Blue teams converged on the Umlazi precinct. Less than one hour after the initial report, officers located the silver Jetta and secured it, complete with keys. The recovered vehicle was removed to Brighton Beach police station for formal processing.
In collaboration with the police and K9 UNIT Support, the Brighton Beach police detectives were notified immediately upon recovery.
Meanwhile, Umlazi K9 attended the scene to assist with perimeter security. This co-ordinated multi-unit effort exemplified the seamless co-operation between Blue CCPU and local police resources.
Residents are urged to verify that all vehicle keys are stored securely, activate the immobiliser systems when not in use, and arm their home alarm.
'Install CCTV cameras with clear views of driveways and entry points. Report any unfamiliar persons or vehicles loitering in your neighbourhood to your local security WhatsApp group or directly to the police,' read a statement.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the accidents. At least 13 people have been killed and several others injured in separate accidents in Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal (KZN). Mpumalanga In Mpumalanga, a head-on collision on Friday night involving a BMW and VW sedans claimed six people's lives. The crash happened on the R23 road between Greylingstad and Val. Mpumalanga department of community safety spokesperson Moeti Mmusi said each vehicle had three occupants, a driver and two passengers who all died on the scene. 'Five of the victims were males and one female was a passenger in the VW sedan. ' Mmusi said the cause of the crash is not yet known. 'Based on the scene's situational analysis, it is suspected that contraventions of the rules, excessive speeding and dangerous overtaking may have caused the collision. The investigation into the crash commenced last night. Mpumalanga MEC for community safety, Jackie Macie, has sent his condolences to the bereaved families. ALSO READ: Three teachers dead, two injured in horror Eastern Cape crash Taxi crash In the first accident in KZN, one passenger was killed and 11 others injured in a serious taxi crash on the N3 Durban-bound highway before the Lion Park. ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said the accident happened just before 6am on Saturday morning. 'Paramedics arrived on the scene to find chaos and carnage as they found that a taxi with 12 occupants had somehow lost control and collided into the centre concrete barrier ejecting some of its occupants,' Jamieson said 'One person, a female believed to be in her 30s, was found to have sustained major injuries and unfortunately there was nothing paramedics could do for her. She was declared deceased on the scene. Injured 'The remaining 11 patients had sustained various injuries and once stabilised on the scene they were transported to various Cato Ridge and Pietermaritzburg hospitals for the further care that they required,' he said. Jamieson added that the events leading up to the crash are unknown. However, police and other officials were on the scene for further investigation. Head-on collision In a second separate accident, a man believed to be in his 30s was killed in a head-on collision on the M7 Durban-bound near the Winston Churchill offramp in the Pinetown area on Friday evening. Jamieson said paramedics arrived on the scene to find the badly damaged vehicles on the busy roadway. 'It is alleged that the one vehicle crossed the centre medium and collided head on into the bakkie. The bakkie then rolled coming to rest on its side. 'Paramedics quickly assessed the scene and found that the light motor vehicle driver was entrapped in the wreckage. Paramedics assessed the man, but he showed no signs of life and was declared deceased on the scene. The two occupants from the bakkie had left for the hospital before the paramedics' arrival,' Jamieson said. Jamieson said the cause of the accident is being investigated. Gas truck crash In the third KZN accident, three people were killed and three others injured in an accident on the N2 near Amatikulu River (Bridge 10) where a gas truck collided with a light motor vehicle and overturned. IPSS Medical Rescue spokesperson Kelsey Jae-Meyrick said the truck was carrying LPG gas and the area is currently unsafe. 'The road is currently closed in both directions and the scene is extremely unsafe. Motorists are urged to please avoid the area until the spill has been cleaned up. 'The road will be closed for the next six hours for clean up. Traffic heading northbound is being diverted off the N2 at the Mandeni offramp'. The victim's vehicle was found abandoned in Dawn Park. The South African Police Service's (Saps') Anti-Kidnapping Task Team has rescued a 30-year-old man and arrested two kidnappers during an operation east of Johannesburg. The man was rescued in Germiston on Friday evening. Rescue Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk said the victim's vehicle was found abandoned in Dawn Park. 'Further investigation revealed that the owner of the vehicle had been kidnapped and was being held against his will. 'Within 24 hours, intelligence directed the task team to an identified address in Germiston. With support from a tactical unit, the team entered the premises and successfully rescued the victim,' Van Wyk said. Kamogelo Baukudi On Friday, Saps made a major breakthrough and confirmed that the kidnapped 19-year-old Kamogelo Baukudi had been found alive. The grade 11 pupil from Martie du Plessis Special Needs School was found alive early on Friday morning, six weeks after he went missing. Police spokesperson Brigadier Motantsi Makhele said they were relieved that Baukudi had been found. 'After weeks of intensive investigation, Kamogelo was safely located and rescued in Wepener in the early hours of this morning, 27 June 2025. During an intelligence-driven operation, five African males aged between 20 and 29 were arrested. 'Three suspects were apprehended at a house in Kanana Location, Wepener, while two others were caught on the road between Kwetla Location and Wepener town with the victim,' Makhele said. Kidnapping Makhele added that this brings the total number of arrests in the case to six. A police task team was established to search for Baukudi who was abducted on Thursday, 5 June 2025, while driving home from school in Vereeniging Drive, Bloemfontein. A HIJACKED vehicle was recovered by Blue Security's tactical officers in the Adams Mission area on June 18. The Isuzu bakkie, which was reported hijacked earlier that day, prompted the driver's vehicle tracking company to send an urgent request for assistance from Blue Security. Two suspects then exited their vehicle and entered the Isuzu, forcing the driver to sit in the middle seat while one of the suspects drove off with the vehicle. The hijackers parked the bakkie on a nearby gravel road, where they offloaded stock from the vehicle. Fortunately, the driver was not physically harmed. The suspects fled the scene in the maroon Suzuki, taking the driver's cellphone but leaving the vehicle key behind.' With the tracking information provided, the vehicle was located and secured. Members of the tracking company arrived shortly after, and the vehicle was handed over to KwaMakhutha SAPS for further investigation. 'This incident underscores the importance of co-ordinated action between private security and tracking services in quickly recovering hijacked vehicles and ensuring the safety of victims,' said Smollan.
