Delhi CM Rekha Gupta participates in mock Parliament programme organised by BJP Mahila Morcha
New Delhi [India], June 28 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in a mock Parliament programme organised by the BJP Mahila Morcha on Saturday, where the Emergency was discussed. Gupta described it as a 'meaningful experience' and emphasised the importance of understanding this dark chapter in India's history.
She said the country was turned into a jail on June 25, 1975, with lakhs of people imprisoned and democracy crushed.
Gupta added that the women of Delhi learned about this dark chapter and stressed the need for the nation to stay united to prevent such a crisis in the future.
Speaking to the reporters, Rekha Gupta said, 'It felt great to participate in the mock parliament program organised by the BJP Mahila Morcha, where the Emergency was discussed. Whatever happened in the country on 25 June 1975, the country was turned into a prison. Lakhs of people were sent to jail. By murdering democracy, a dark chapter was added to the country's history. Today, the women of Delhi gained knowledge about that chapter. To ensure such a crisis never befalls the country again, the entire nation will unite to fight this battle.'
Earlier, on Friday, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated the 34th Mango Festival at the Tyagraj Stadium in Delhi. The festival saw active participation from farmers, agricultural experts, and mango producers, providing a platform for sharing challenges, innovations, and opportunities.
According to an official release from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), CM Rekha Gupta interacted with farmers, agricultural experts, and mango producers at the event venue, gathering information about their challenges, opportunities, and innovations.
Describing the event as both a learning experience and a celebration of India's agricultural diversity, the Delhi Chief Minister highlighted the relevance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Vocal for Local' and 'One India, Great India.' She invited all Delhiites to explore the two-day Mango Festival, which showcased a wide variety of mangoes from across the country.
Speaking to ANI, CM Rekha Gupta said, 'Farmers from all over the country have come to participate in this Mango Exhibition organised by Delhi Tourism. They have brought various varieties of mangoes, on which specialised methods have been used. A beautiful mango exhibition has been showcased here for the people of Delhi. I congratulate my department as well as the cabinet minister (Kapil Mishra), who worked hard and gave this opportunity to Delhi to enjoy the mangoes that came from all over the country...' (ANI)

(ANI Photo) NEW DELHI: Days after defence minister Rajnath Singh urged China to act on the ground and follow a structured roadmap to resolve the long-standing border tensions, Beijing has responded with a familiar line: the boundary issue is 'complicated' and will 'take time' to resolve. In its first official reaction to Singh's June 26 meeting with Chinese defence minister Dong Jun on the sidelines of the SCO defence ministers' Conclave in Qingdao, China's foreign ministry reiterated its position that the border problem cannot be solved quickly. 'The boundary question is complicated, and it takes time to settle it,' said spokesperson Mao Ning in Beijing on Monday, while highlighting the importance of continuing talks through established channels like the Special Representatives (SRs) mechanism, reported PTI. Patience, not promises Mao acknowledged the existence of diplomatic and military communication mechanisms, including the 2005 agreement on political parameters for a final settlement. 'China stands ready to maintain communication with India on issues including delimitation negotiation and border management,' she said. However, she made no direct commitment to Singh's proposal for a structured de-escalation process or action to address the 'trust deficit' that India says remains unresolved since the 2020 Ladakh standoff. Women's safety a priority of governance: Delhi CM Rekha Gupta
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday said that her government has made women's safety a priority of governance, and work is in progress to eliminate unsafe and dark spots in the city. In a post on X, the Chief Minister said, 'We have made women's safety in the capital not just a promise but a priority of governance. Continuous efforts are being made in coordination with the police and administration to make Delhi safer for women.' She said, 'Dark spots are being identified and security measures are being strengthened there, PCR patrolling has been increased, panic buttons and women's PCR facilities in public transport have been empowered, and effective mechanisms like 'One Stop Centres' are working to provide immediate assistance to women. Our goal is- a safe Delhi.' CM Gupta also highlighted the work being done by her government on fighting air pollution and ensuring the execution of court orders to stop the sale of fuel to end-of-life (EoL) vehicles. "Considering Delhi's pollution, the Hon'ble Supreme Court and pollution control bodies like CAQM, etc, are continuously stressing the seriousness of this matter and saying that end-of-life vehicles should be stopped — meaning such vehicles should not be given petrol or diesel. This matter is under constant discussion, and as per the court's directions, we want to implement the measures." The entire process is dependent on cameras, and we are studying its viability. 'The government is working to ensure minimal inconvenience is caused,' she said. Starting Tuesday, the Delhi government is planning to stop the sale of petrol and diesel to end-of-life (EoL) or over-age vehicles – a move aimed at fighting vehicular emission-linked air pollution in the Capital, an official said. Petrol pump owners on Monday confirmed that Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras and other devices linked to the transport ministry's data bank have been installed at their outlets to identify EoL vehicles. The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has issued a direction that all EoL vehicles identified through ANPR cameras or other such devices installed at filling stations shall be denied fuel from July 1 in the NCT of Delhi. The transport department has defined EoL vehicles as those which are no longer validly registered vehicles, whether running on petrol, CNG or diesel. These also include petrol vehicles more than 15 years old and diesel vehicles more than 10 years old.
