Prabhas has been under the spotlight when it comes to his short cameo as Rudra in Kannappa. Social media has been filled with heaped praises for the Rebel Star, who loved the brief yet strong role he had been assigned in the film. And recently Vishnu Manchu shared his take on the same.
Is Prabhas' cameo the only reason behind Kannappa's success?
At a recent post-release event of Kannappa, Vishnu Manchu was asked if he felt that Prabhas' presence in the cameo role of Rudra was a big reason behind the film's success.
For the unversed, based on reviews by audiences, it seems people have loved the role of the Salaar actor more than Vishnu, who plays the lead role.
Responding to the same, Vishnu Manchu said, '100 per cent I believe that. Some people may debate about Kannappa's subject. But I've no ego. I have no ego to accept my brother Prabhas' opening scene. I know that. '
He added, 'Because of him, you all are interested in watching Kannappa's story. After his opening, you have come to learn about Kannappa. So it is purely because of my brother.'
Ram Gopal Varma lauds Vishnu Manchu's performance over Prabhas
Recently filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma sent a message to Vishnu Manchu after having watched Kannappa. The director mentioned that although he does not believe in content based on gods and devotees, he still watched the movie because of Vishnu's strong performance.
Moreover, RGV highlighted that while the rest of the people are watching the film because of Prabhas' presence, he, on the other hand, will see it because of Vishnu's stint only.
He wrote, 'All in all, people might be coming into the theatre for Prabhas, but now I am going to buy a ticket in the theatre to see you.'
Kannappa's special cameos
For the unversed, Kannappa witnessed a number of special cameos made by some of the biggest stars of the film fraternity. Besides Prabhas playing Rudra, Mollywood icon Mohanlal joined the cast in the special role of Kiraata.
On the other hand, while Akshay Kumar played the role of Lord Shiva, Kajal Aggarwal was assigned the role of Devi Parvati as a part of the special cameos.

Vishnu was asked at the press meet if it was possible for another film to be made based on the lore of Kannappa, and the actor surprised everyone by admitting that a prequel could potentially be made. 'A really good director…one of the leading directors today called me yesterday and asked me if I would be open to doing a prequel. I laughed because he said let's explore more of Kannappa as an atheist if you're interested. I was like, why not? We laughed about it because this film can have a prequel at best, but not a sequel,' explained Vishnu. Vishnu also revealed at the press meet that he has not yet sold the film to an OTT platform. 'I have not given it to an OTT yet. I've said this before, too. I was not offered the rate I requested. I asked them what if the film is a hit, and they quoted a certain number. I asked them to keep a cheque ready now,' he said. As per Sacnilk, Kannappa has collected an estimated ₹ 16.35 crore net in India in two days of release, showing a slight dip in collections on Saturday. It remains to be seen if the numbers perk up on Sunday. About Kannappa Kannappa is based on the lore of a hunter named Thinnadu who turns from an atheist to a great believer in Lord Shiva. Vishnu has often called the film his 'dream project,' and it has been in the making for years. He also wrote the screenplay for the film based on an idea provided by veteran actor-writer Tanikella Bharani.

Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection: Aamir Khan film shows massive 92% jump on second Saturday, crosses ₹100 crore

Sitaare Zameen Par box office collection: Despite facing competition from new releases like Kajol's Maa and Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par witnessed a significant jump in its day 9 box office collection and has now crossed the ₹ 100 crore mark, according to Sacnilk. Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par crosses ₹ 100 crore mark at the domestic box office. The trade tracking site reported that Aamir's film saw a jump of 92% on its second Saturday, collecting ₹ 12.75 crore at the box office, up from ₹ 6.65 crore on Friday. The total collection of the film now stands at ₹ 108 crore. This week saw two new releases — Kajol's Maa, which earned ₹ 6.2 crore on day 2, and Vishnu Manchu's Kannappa, which collected ₹ 7 crore, both less than what Sitaare Zameen Par managed. Sitaare Zameen Par has grossed approximately ₹ 165 crore worldwide, according to Sacnilk, making it the fifth highest-grossing Bollywood movie of the year. It is expected to cross Salman Khan's Sikandar ( ₹ 185 crore gross) in the next couple of days to become the fourth biggest grosser of the year among Hindi films. About Sitaare Zameen Par Helmed by RS Prasanna, the film is a spiritual sequel to Aamir's 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. The film stars Aamir as a basketball coach who trains a team of specially-abled children as punishment for a drink-and-drive case. Backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the film also stars Genelia D'Souza in the lead role alongside 10 debutants, including Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar — all of whom are specially-abled. An excerpt from Hindustan Times' review of Sitaare Zameen Par reads, "The first half is slow and tests your patience. Aamir being angry with his new role, getting to know his special team, then struggling in his marriage with Sunita (Genelia Deshmukh) — there's a lot that eats up screen time and feels like lazy writing. There's the occasional laugh, pretty much what one saw in the trailer. The intermission point too isn't on a high. You settle into your seats after this, ready for a yawn-fest. But this is exactly when Sitaare Zameen Par miraculously finds its groove."
