"Gradually bringing bus system back on track": Delhi CM Rekha inaugurates 100 electric buses at Narela bus depot
New Delhi [India], June 27 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Friday inaugurated the Narela bus depot and flagged off 100 electric buses, which will operate on nine routes across the national capital.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister reiterated the government's commitment to modernising the public transport system and affirmed the goal of revamping Delhi's bus services and 'bringing them back on track.'
'Today we have inaugurated the Narela Bus Depot and dedicated 100 Devi electric buses, which will operate on nine routes... These are equipped with excellent facilities...This depot was completed in just 3 months. Our goal is to transition Delhi's public transport system to an electric mode, update the transport system, and ensure minimal inconvenience to the public,' the Chief Minister told reporters after the inauguration.
She was accompanied by Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Yogendra Chandolia.
Earlier, BJP MP Yogendra Chandolia mentioned that the Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government has kept rural areas in mind and has also contributed to helping save the environment with the newly inaugurated electric buses.
'Keeping the rural areas of Delhi in mind, the Rekha Gupta government of Delhi has established a DTC depot here, and 105 small buses will be dispatched from here. This is the Delhi government's contribution to saving Delhi's environment. These are electric buses, and women will travel for free on these buses. These small buses will address the problem of traffic jams,' he said.
He also mentioned the goal of full electrification of buses while taking a shot at the Aam Aadmi Party for spreading lies and not doing work for the people of Delhi, 'In the coming times, all buses in Delhi will be electric to improve Delhi's environment... They (Aam Aadmi Party) have nothing but lies; if they had worked on time, they would not be in the opposition today...'
On World Environment Day (June 5), CM Gupta had announced that 280 electric buses would be added to Delhi's fleet by 2027 as part of a comprehensive electric vehicle (EV) policy.
Speaking to ANI, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said earlier, 'We have decided to give 280 electric buses to Delhi. By 2027, the whole fleet of buses provided by the Delhi government will be electric. We are also bringing in a new EV policy.'
CM Gupta praised the new buses, calling them a tremendous asset for Delhi and highlighting their high comfort level and security features. (ANI)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio address on Sunday, played clips of prominent voices who opposed the Emergency, using their remarks to criticise the then Congress government for its suppression of civil liberties. 1. PM Modi emphasised that these voices should be remembered as a reminder to remain vigilant in safeguarding the Constitution. Modi stated that those who imposed the Emergency not only violated the Constitution but also undermined the independence of the judiciary, turning it into a puppet. 2. Modi said people were tortured on a large scale during the Emergency for the 21-month period between 1975 and 1977. There are many examples which cannot be forgotten, he added. 3. George Fernandes was shackled; he noted and recalled that anyone could be arrested under the Maintenance of Internal Security Act (MISA) at that time. Naveen Patnaik slams Odisha govt's ‘incompetence' over stampede, BJP hits back
Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday lashed out the state government over a stampede during the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Puri that claimed three lives. Later, the BJP-led government slammed the BJD for making political remarks. People during the annual 'Rath Yatra' festival celebration, in Puri, Odisha.(PTI) Naveen Patnaik extended condolences to the families of the devotees who died in the stampede, and said he was praying for the recovery of those injured. "Today's stampede, occurring just a day after the abysmal failure of crowd management during the #RathYatra that left hundreds injured, exposes the government's glaring incompetence in ensuring a peaceful festival for devotees," Patnaik wrote on X. Three people were killed and over 50 were injured in the stampede. The incident took place near Gundicha Temple in Puri, about three kms away from the main Jagannath Temple. Chaos ensued after trucks carrying Charamala wood (considered sacred) arrived near the temple, where over 1,500 devotees were seated, eyewitnesses said. However, a detailed probe into the stampede is yet to take place. As Naveen Patnaik slammed the state government over an alleged mismanagement, he also alleged there was no government staff present to control the huge crowd when the accident happened. "The inordinate delay in pulling the Nandighosha chariot on Rath Yatra day was conveniently attributed to "Mahaprabhu's wish", a shocking excuse that masks the administration's complete abdication of responsibility," Patnaik further wrote on X. Meanwhile, Naveen Patnaik has urged the government to ensure that key Rath Yatra rituals like Adapa Bije, Bahuda and Suna Besha take place smoothly. Over 700 devotees have been hospitalised with complaints of suffocation and nausea after the stampede. None of the three chariots could be pulled even halfway from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple as a massive crowd surged. Senior police officials have visited the site, and minister Harichandan has assured that the government will conduct a detailed probe. BJP hits back Without naming Patnaik, Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan responded to the criticism, and reminded the BJD how it made mistakes in the management of the festival when in power. "In the past, the BJD government made mistakes and insulted Lord Jagannath. Since 1977, the chariots have always reached the Gundicha Temple on the second day," Harichandan claimed. He also said the BJD was making political statements 'while recovering from jaundice,' and warned that those doing politics the festival will face consequences, 'if not today, then tomorrow'. Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the All India Oil Sector Meet program organised at ONGC Community Centre, Dehradun on Saturday. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is working to promote green energy with coordination in the economy, ecology and technology. "Clean and green energy is being promoted in the state through the Chief Minister Solar Self-Employment Scheme. Hydroelectric projects like Tehri, Koteshwar, Pipalkoti, Lakhwar, and Vishnugad in the state are playing an important role in establishing Uttarakhand as an energy hub. The Chief Minister said that PM Modi has put the resolution of a self-reliant and developed India in front of people. The country is moving forward with the resolution of becoming a developed India by 2047. He said that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, petroleum reserves have been established for the energy security of the country. "Solar energy is also being promoted along with green hydrogen. Work is being done on many alternative sources of energy. All these efforts have made India capable in the field of energy," he said. The Chief Minister said that many works have been done in the field of oil and natural gas. Gas pipelines are being expanded under One Nation, One Grid. The gas distribution system has been expanded and made more convenient than before. Bio CNG plants are being set up. Schemes like the Ujjwala have brought a revolution in society. Many policies have also been implemented for oil production. India has also increased investments in the oil and natural gas sector abroad, the Chief Minister said. He said ONGC has done many such works in Uttarakhand, which are benefiting the state. (ANI)
