Shravasti tops grievance redressal index for May
The rankings released by the CM Dashboard and the Integrated Grievance Redressal System (IGRS) show that Shahjahanpur is second, followed by Amethi in the third position.
"Govt receives complaints through various platforms like IGRS, CM Helpline, at tehsil and DM offices, etc. With Chief Minister
Yogi Adityanath
personally monitoring the system, there was a marked decline in the number of unresolved complaints, as reflected in the May 2025 rankings," said a govt spokesperson.
Shravasti district magistrate Ajay Kumar Dwivedi said that a structured strategy was adopted in the district to ensure timely redressal of complaints.
Public hearings are conducted every day at 10 am, followed by continuous monitoring of the complaint redressal throughout the day. Pending cases are reviewed at 5 pm and cases where the complainant was dissatisfied with the resolution are assessed at 9 pm.
"With all officials treating grievance redressal as a priority, Shravasti consistently ranked among the top five districts in timely and high-quality grievance resolution," he said, adding that the district scored 137 out of 140 points in the May IGRS report, with a resolution rate of 97.86%.
Other top performers include Shahjahanpur in the second spot with a 95.71% resolution, Amethi third with 94.29%, Hamirpur fourth with 94.29%, and Ambedkar Nagar fifth with 89.29%.
"These districts not only resolved complaints within the stipulated time but also ensured high standards in solution quality. The sixth to tenth ranks were secured by Hathras, Azamgarh, Chandauli, Mainpuri and Siddharthnagar, respectively," the official added.

Priyanka Gandhi slams UP govt's school merger plan, warns of Right to Education rollback for marginalised children
Senior Congress leader and Member of Parliament from Wayanad (Kerala) Priyanka Gandhi has sharply criticised the Uttar Pradesh government's decision to merge thousands of government schools, calling it a direct assault on the Right to Education and a blow to marginalised communities. In a post on her official X handle, Priyanka Gandhi alleged that the Yogi Adityanath-led administration is preparing to shut down nearly 5,000 schools under the guise of rationalisation, while teacher organisations warn that the actual number could reach as high as 27,000. The move, according to state officials, is part of a broader plan to consolidate schools with low enrollment—particularly those with fewer than 50 students—and merge them with nearby institutions to optimise resources and improve infrastructure. However, critics argue that such consolidation will disproportionately affect children from Dalit, tribal, backward, and minority communities, many of whom rely on local schools for access to basic education. Priyanka Gandhi invoked the legacy of the UPA government's Right to Education Act, which mandated the establishment of schools within close proximity to every village to ensure that children from economically weaker sections could attend school without facing logistical barriers. She questioned how young children, especially girls, would be expected to walk several kilometres to reach distant schools, warning that such a shift could lead to increased dropout rates and educational exclusion. 'This decision is not just administrative—it's ideological,' Priyanka Gandhi wrote. 'It undermines the constitutional promise of education for all and threatens to push thousands of children out of the classroom.' The Uttar Pradesh government has defended the plan, stating that it aims to address teacher shortages, underutilised infrastructure, and declining enrollment. Education officials have instructed district administrators to submit merger proposals by mid-November, with considerations for transportation and geographic challenges. Meanwhile, opposition parties and civil society groups have begun mobilising against the move, demanding transparency and a reassessment of its long-term impact. The controversy has sparked a wider debate on educational equity, rural access, and the role of public schooling in social upliftment.

Kanwar yatra: Adityanath asks officials to maintain heightened vigil

Maintaining that the safety and convenience of devotees are the top priorities of the state government, he instructed officials to ensure adequate arrangements along the yatra route, including cleanliness, medical services, drinking water, canteens, and toilets. Emphasising on the safety and comfort of women kanwariyas, he directed effective deployment of women police personnel, an official statement said here. Adityanath directed 24x7 surveillance in sensitive areas using drone cameras and CCTV, and instructed intelligence agencies to maintain heightened vigilance to prevent any disruption. To enhance communication and spiritual ambience, the CM directed the use of public address systems along the route and the continuous broadcast of Shiva bhajans to keep devotees connected. He also suggested organising floral showers from helicopters at key locations to welcome kanwars. Adityanath instructed officials to set up fully operational medical camps, first aid centres, and deploy ambulances at all major points to ensure a prompt response to any emergency. Emphasising food safety, he directed the Food Safety and Drug Administration, along with local authorities, to conduct regular checks to maintain the quality and purity of food items provided to devotees. He also appealed to all devotees to observe devotion, discipline, and decorum during the yatra.
