Matt Cardona remains one of the best stories of persistence and dedication in professional wrestling.
More Pro Wrestling: Recently Released Superstar Working With WWE Again
After 15 years in WWE and getting himself over with the crowd through social media, Cardona became an even bigger star on the independent scene, proving that you don't need WWE to be a successful wrestler.
This was just supposed to be my comeback from injury video, but it's so much more than that…It's my career video…My LIFE video.
The office has counted me out. The fans have counted me out. I've even counted myself out! But I always come back. It's not over until I quit…and… pic.twitter.com/mxD5RB3PQP — Matt Cardona (@TheMattCardona) September 23, 2024
Still, questions will always arise whether Cordona will return to WWE and potentially team with his wife, inaugural Women's United States Champion Chelsea Green.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Cordona revealed that he is surprised that he has not returned to WWE since he was released in 2020.
"Honestly? Yeah," Cordona said. "But, obviously, you know, I'm missing something. I don't know what it is.
"Listen, people say to me all the time, especially like we just had WrestleMania, WrestleCon... Probably every other fan [asked me] when are you coming back? Well, it's not up to me. You know? Or at the WrestleMania hotel...so many people from the office or other wrestlers are like, hey man, when are you coming back? It's like, I don't know."
Cordona then revealed that, not only would he be interested in returning, but he has reached out to WWE multiple times.
"I've reached out many times," Cordona said. "I shouldn't say many, a few times, every couple of months when something cool happens or I have something to say, hey look what I'm doing. There's been no offer...everything's very nice, professional, but there's no offer. And you know what, it is what it is. I'm gonna keep working my ass off."

The work has paid off. Cordona is easily one of the most beloved and respected wrestlers working today, known particularly for his consistent in-ring performance and incredible work ethic in and out of the ring.
Within WWE, Cordona utilized YouTube and social media to get himself over as Zack Ryder. This would eventually lead to him winning the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 32.
Cordona also won the United States Championship once and the WWE Tag Team Championship twice with Curt Hawkins.
Since WWE, Cordona has gone on to win titles with at least 18 different promotions and has performed in AEW, TNA, GCW, and NWA, to name a few.

Dog Keeps Owner Company During Workouts—Hysterics at What He Learns

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A dog's attempt to work out with his owner during a training session has gone viral in a hilarious clip. Bri Schneider, 31, and her husband, Zeke, 34, live in St Petersburg, Florida, with their adored dogs Rambo, 8, and 5-year-old Mojito. The couple do everything with their pups—including, it appears, working out. Schneider and Zeke have a home gym, and during a recent workout, Mojito decided to join Zeke for a training session, possibly for further motivation, or as Schneider described it: "My dog likes to mock my husband during his workouts." In a video posted to their TikTok account, @schneidersonthego on June 30, viewed close to 600,000 times, Zeke is focusing on doing sit-ups, while their Rottweiler, Rambo, takes a nap next to him. Mojito is also lying beside him—but rather than take a nap, Old English Sheepdog Mojito is on his back, his front paws curled up before him, and kicking his hind legs wildly in the air, as though trying to copy his owner. "He has always done this," Schneider told Newsweek. "He does it a lot, and also does it outside of the gym." Mojito the Old English Sheepdog joins his owner in a workout session. Schneider, who also posts to Instagram under the name @bri__schneider, captioned the post: "You're doing it wrong, dad!" TikTok users were in stitches, one describing Mojito as "man's best workout buddy," and another joking: "When they say dogs are just toddlers this is what they mean." One asked: "Sign us up for Mojito's next class," and while another joked: "Heaven forbid a dog work on their abs," yet another described it as the dog "doing bicycle kicks." And as one commenter summed it up: "He is doing leg day." Bri Schneider, Zeke Schneider, Mojito and Rambo. Bri Schneider, Zeke Schneider, Mojito and Rambo. Bri Schneider While dogs don't need to do crunches or squats to get fit, exercise is extremely important for their mental and physical health. Walking is the best way to get a dog exercise, but there are also indoor-friendly activities you can do with your dog to keep them fit. A tug-of-war, indoor fetch, creating a scavenger hunt or even an indoor obstacle course are ways to keep your dog active if you're unable to get outside for a walk, according to a vet-reviewed report from PetMD. Family Enjoy Beach Trip Together, Dog Has Other Ideas: 'Independent Queen'

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A couple of dog owners from Seattle took their pet to the beach to spend some quality time together, but what the canine decided to do instead of chilling with her owners has left internet users in stitches. In a viral TikTok video shared in June under the username @ the poster, 27-year-old Kira Denny, and her partner, can be seen sipping coffee by the beach while a friend's dog sits at their feet, however their own dog is nowhere in sight. As the poster moves the camera to show the sunset, their pup, 4-year-old Stella, is filmed lying by the shore, far in the background, spending time alone instead of socializing with the rest of her family. "Our independent Queen," reads a caption shared with the clip. Denny told Newsweek that Stella is a golden Pyrenees (half great Pyrenees, half golden retriever), and that she is a very goofy dog who hates peanut butter, and for some reason has always sat as far away from her owners as possible. "It's very normal behavior for her, whenever we take her to breweries or local events she is always sitting at the furthest end of the leash," she said. "We took her camping to the Washington coast and while we were watching the sunset she decided to sit really far away! We were watching our friends dog, Suki, who is Stella's best friend. Suki was happy to sit next to us off leash." "We think Stella was protecting the whole pack and watching the whole beach," she also said, adding that after sending this video to friends and family, everyone said "classic Stella!" Dogs are known for wanting to be near their owners all the time, but this doesn't mean they don't feel the need to be by themselves from time to time too. According to Psychology Today, dogs sometimes do have "enough of their owners" and when this happens, it's just best to let them be on their own for a while, until they are ready to interact with you again. Screenshots of the viral video show the pup sitting as far as possible from her owners at the beach. One user, Yesica, commented: "She's in her teenage years.. her family just doesn't understand her." Aquelmaggiora said: "Not me thinking you were talking about the dog right next to you and I was like 'ok that's a bit dramatic' and LOST IT when I saw which dog you were talking about." Jessica added: "Close enough to come back to you, but far away enough that if a better family comes along she can appear alone and stranded. She's keeping her options open. Good for her." The Hardy Boyz Explain What Went Wrong With Their AEW Run

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Hardy Boyz have opened up about their recent run with AEW. In a new interview with Ariel Helwani, Jeff Hardy took full responsibility for the team's run not meeting expectations. Jeff cited his personal issues and legal troubles as the main reason for their struggles. He believes those problems prevented them from getting a fair chance in the company. Jeff Hardy Takes The Blame Jeff Hardy was candid about his time in AEW. He feels he never had a chance to redeem himself after his arrest. "I just don't think we ever had a fair chance because of that," Jeff said. "So I blame myself all the time." He stated he understood why AEW might not have wanted to trust him. "I was, 'Oh, God, they can't trust me. I'm just a liability,'" he explained. Matt Hardy On Missed Opportunities Matt Hardy gave his perspective on the situation. He felt that his brother did a good job of proving himself after he returned. Matt also expressed disappointment that AEW didn't capitalize on having all four "TLC legends" (himself, Jeff, Adam Copeland, and Christian Cage) in the company at the same time. "But, yeah, it didn't happen." He spoke highly of Tony Khan as a person and a boss. However, he noted that Khan has a specific "style and choice of wrestling that he likes to see." More news: WWE News: Steve Austin Reveals Real-Life Vince McMahon Confrontation The Hardy Boyz have had multiple, impactful runs in TNA Wrestling. Jeff Hardy found major singles success, becoming a three-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion. Matt Hardy famously reinvented himself with his "Broken" character, a creative phenomenon that took the wrestling world by storm and led to cinematic matches like "The Final Deletion." Together, they also captured the TNA World Tag Team Championship on three separate occasions, most recently in 2024. Years later, they reunited in AEW in 2022, immediately entering a dream feud with The Young Bucks, whom they defeated at the Double or Nothing pay-per-view. However, their AEW run was quickly derailed by Jeff's legal issues and subsequent suspension, from which they never fully recovered their momentum. Despite the initial excitement, their time in AEW was marked by inconsistent booking and injuries before both departed the company. More WWE News: For more on WWE, head to Newsweek Sports.
