2 More Pak Sympathisers Arrested In Assam, Total Arrests Reach 92
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that two persons have been arrested in the state for expressing their 'pro-Pakistan' stand on social media.
The arrests happened from Nagaon and Lakhimpur districts in the state.
The persons have been identified as Sabikul Islam and Dulal Bora.
Islam was taken into custody from the Lakhimpur district while Bora was arrested by Nagaon police.
According to CM Sarma, a total of 92 anti-nationals are now lodged in jail for sympathising with Pakistan.
He said, "Our systems are constantly tracking anti-national posts on social media and taking action."
Among the 92 arrested people, the most prominent is the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) MLA Aminul Islam.
He was the first person to be arrested in the state for the "pro-Pakistan" stand.
Aminul Islam, an AIUDF MLA from Assam's Dhing Assembly constituency, was arrested on May 1 on sedition charges following his provocative statement regarding the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.
In a video clip circulated on social media, the AIUDF leader is heard claiming that the Pahalgam and Pulwama attacks were part of a "government conspiracy".
Aminul Islam said, "Six years ago in Pulwama, when the RDX blast happened and 42 soldiers died, I said on that day that the Pulwama blast happened at the behest of a conspiracy of the Central government, and it was a conspiracy to win the 2019 Lok Sabha polls."
He added that what happened in Pahalgam is that the "BJP has been peddling that the terrorists asked about religion and opened fire only on Hindus, and they let go of Muslims".
"But the victims said that the terrorists opened fire without asking about anybody's name, and I doubt that the nexus which was involved in the Pulwama attack in which RDX was used, is behind the Pahalgam incident," he said.
"If the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government does not conduct a fair investigation into the incident and tries to bring a division between Hindus and Muslims, I would believe that this incident happened because of a conspiracy," he added.
However, the AIUDF Chief Badruddin Ajmal distanced himself from his party legislator's comments.
Ajmal said, "AIUDF stands with the government. The terrorists have no religion, and those who spread terrorism are against Islam."

‘A borrowed knife': How China used Pak during Op Sindoor, explains Indian Army deputy chief

He mentioned 'one border, two adversaries', counting China along with Pakistan, and quickly added 'actually, three!'. He later listed Turkey as the third, for its extensive backup support, particularly in providing drones to Pakistan. On China, he further said it follows the dictum of 'kill by a borrowed knife' and prefers using Pakistan to 'inflict pain' rather than get into 'a mudslinging match on the northern borders' with India. The borrowed knife analogy is among 36 dictums that China purportedly follows as strategy. 'Pak had live info' He also said Pakistan had realtime information on some of India's moves during the conflict. 'Even when the DGMO-level talks were going on, Pakistan was mentioning, 'We know that your such-and-such vector is primed and ready for action.'' He said Pakistan told the Indian side at the time that 'we would request you to perhaps pull it back'. This, he termed, were 'live inputs that [Pakistan] was getting from China'. India's military action followed a terrorist attack in Kashmir's Pahalgam on April 22, in which 26 civilians were killed. Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, targeting terror bases and headquarters in Pakistan's Punjab province and in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Pakistan hit back with a series of missile and drone strikes – believed to have been provided majorly by China and some by Turkey – in parts of Indian Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, and other states. Most of the attacks were quelled by the Indian air defence systems. A ceasefire was eventually reached after Pakistan's Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) reached out to his Indian counterpart. Vijay leads TVK meeting, condemns Hindi imposition ahead of Tamil Nadu polls
Actor turned politician Vijay headed the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) State Executive Committee Meeting at the party headquarters in Chennai on Friday. The meeting was crucial ahead of the upcoming Tamil Nadu assembly elections, where several resolutions were passed. TVK State state executive committee noted that the electoral revision is being conducted to increase the pro-BJP votes.(PTI File) The TVK state executive committee said that Union Home Amit Shah's recent comments on the English language have "malicious" intentions and a "direct" assault on Tamil Nadu's two-language policy. The Tamil Vettri Kazhagham mentioned that the party will never accept the imposition of Hindi and the Sanskrit language on Tamil Nadu. The party also condemned the Election Commission of India's decision to conduct electoral revision and stated that the main purpose of it is to reduce minority votes in the state. The Committee noted that the electoral revision is being conducted to increase the pro-BJP votes, which is against democracy. Meanwhile, several other decisions related to TVK head Vijay's outreach program were taken ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. On July 3, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor turned politician Vijay met family members of Ajith Kumar, who allegedly died during police interrogation in Sivaganga district of Tamil Nadu earlier in the month. Vijay demanded a High Court-monitored probe into the alleged custodial death of Ajith Kumar in Sivaganga district, while holding Chief Minister MK Stalin, who is also the state's home minister, responsible for it. "In the Tiruppuvanam Ajithkumar custodial death case, a special investigation team must be formed under the direct supervision of the High Court to conduct an inquiry and deliver a swift judgment!" the TVK chief wrote in a post on X. He claimed that the police department, under the "direct supervision of MK Stalin", acts in a "cruel, utterly inhumane and unjust manner towards ordinary citizens." Vijay also alleged that the state government initially shielded the accused and only took action after the High Court intervened. "This incident starkly highlights the extent to which the Tamil Nadu Police Department, operating under the direct supervision of the Home Minister, Mr. M.K. Stalin, acts in a cruel, utterly inhumane, and unjust manner toward ordinary citizens, functioning as an unethical institution. It is widely known that the Tamil Nadu government initially tried to protect the culprits," Vijay's post read.
