All India Radio station to begin soon in Ujjain: MP CM Mohan Yadav
CM Yadav said that the in-principle approval has been granted for setting up an Akashvani station, and requested for early commencement of the Akashvani centre in view of the upcoming Simhastha 2028, read an official statement from the Chief Minister's office.
'Union Minister Murugan assured support and said the necessary procedures would be initiated. Until the Ujjain studio is constructed, arrangements will be made for broadcast through the Indore Akashvani Centre,' the statement added.
After meeting with various union ministers in the national capital, CM Yadav informed that the foundation of a state-of-the-art rail coach manufacturing plant by BEML Limited, Bengaluru (a Government of India undertaking) will soon be laid in Raisen district.
According to the statement, the project involves an investment of around Rs 1,800 crore, with participation from the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Ministry of Railways, and the Ministry of Defence.
CM Yadav said he has invited Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to lay the foundation stone and held detailed discussions on the importance of the plant.
CM Yadav also shared that the Madhya Pradesh government is undertaking major initiatives in renewable energy, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision.
In his meeting with Union Minister for Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, CM Yadav discussed ongoing projects and expressed optimism about future progress. He highlighted that the upcoming solar parks with a total capacity of 4,200 MW will mark a significant milestone in the state's renewable energy journey. Additionally, collaboration with Uttar Pradesh is underway to develop 2,000 MW of solar power, with an agreement for mutual energy exchange every six months between the two states. (ANI)

Our border is with Tibet, not China: Arunachal CM Pema Khandu takes swipe at Beijing
Arunachal CM Pema Khandu (File photo) Arunachal Pradesh shares a 1,200km border with Tibet, not China, chief minister Pema Khandu declared Wednesday in a surgical swipe at Beijing for repeatedly laying claim to the northeastern state, and also creating what he called a ticking "water bomb" in the form of the world's largest dam project on the Yarlung Tsangpo (Brahmaputra in India) river. "Officially, yes, Tibet is under China now. That can't be ruled out... but originally we shared a border with Tibet," he told PTI in Delhi on his way back from the Dalai Lama's 90th birthday celebration in Dharamshala. "In Arunachal Pradesh, we share three international boundaries - with Bhutan approximately 150km, with Tibet... and on the eastern side, with Myanmar approximately 550km." Khandu, in his third consecutive term as CM and credited with strengthening BJP's hold on the state, made the remarks while seeking to "correct" the interviewer the moment he referred to Arunachal Pradesh bordering China. Pointing to China's "forcible" occupation of Tibet in 1950, Khandu said that if one looked at India's map, "none of the Indian states directly shares borders with China". The CM's statement comes amid China's intensified bid to stamp its authority on the Dalai Lama's succession. Union minister and fellow Arunachal Pradesh native Kiren Rijiju, said recently that the decision on who should be the Dalai Lama's successor should be solely his and in accordance with established Tibetan Buddhist convention. No government, including China's communist regime, should have a say, he said. On the dam China is building on the Yarlung Tsangpo, the Tibetan name for the Brahmaputra, Khandu warned that the project poses an 'existential threat' to Arunachal and its neighbouring northeastern states. He termed it 'a bigger issue' than anything else other than the Chinese 'military threat' hanging over the region. Khandu said Beijing not being a signatory to any international water treaty meant it 'cannot be trusted'. 'No one knows what they might do... Suppose the dam is built and they suddenly release water, our entire Siang belt would be destroyed. The Adi tribe and similar groups would suffer devastating effects,' he said. The CM said that after discussions with the Union government, Arunachal Pradesh conceived the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project as a bulwark against China's intentions. 'Since we cannot make China see reason, it is better that we focus on our own defence mechanisms and preparations,' he told PTI.

Madras High Court Raps Bureaucrat In Contempt Case, Imposes Rs 1 Lakh Fine
Chennai: The Madras High Court has come down heavily on the Greater Chennai Corporation Commissioner, questioning whether he considers himself "above the court" simply because he is an IAS officer. The court has ordered the Commissioner to appear in person tomorrow, explaining his conduct. The strong observations came during a contempt of court hearing filed by advocate and former councillor Rukmangathan. He had approached the court, seeking action against illegal constructions in Zone 5 of the Chennai Corporation, particularly in Royapuram. The court had earlier directed the Corporation to take action not only in Zone 5 but across other zones as well, in an order dated December 2021. However, the petitioner alleged that the Corporation failed to act on the court's directive, prompting him to file a contempt petition against the Commissioner. Hearing the matter, a bench of Chief Justice S.V. Gangapurwala and Justice Sundar Mohan questioned why the earlier order had not been implemented. The bench imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the Commissioner, which would be deducted from his salary and donated to the Adyar Cancer Institute. When the matter came up again, Additional Advocate General J. Ravindran sought to suspend the fine, admitting there had been a lapse on the part of the legal team. The Chief Justice, however, was unsparing in his criticism. He remarked that even if the legal counsel had filed incorrect affidavits, the Commissioner was duty-bound to verify them before signing. Failure to do so, he said, made him unfit to hold the post. The court asked why the Commissioner failed to appear for the contempt proceedings earlier and directed him to be present tomorrow with a proper affidavit. The decision on the penalty will be made later.
