The Minister of State for Telecom was speaking on the sidelines of a review meeting of BSNL here.
"Starlink can have only 20 lakh customers in India and offer up to 200 Mbps speed. That won't affect telecom services," the minister said.
Satcom
services are expected to target rural and remote areas where BSNL is known to have a significant presence.
He said that the upfront cost for satcom services will be too high, and the monthly cost may be around ₹3,000.
The minister said that the BSNL 4G rollout is complete, and it does not plan to increase tariffs as of now. "We want market first. There are no tariff hikes planned."

The order, which could be signed as early as this week, would authorize monetary penalties, consent decrees or other disciplinary measures against violators, the Journal reported. It also calls on regulators to strike policies they have that might have contributed to banks dropping certain customers and requires the Small Business Administration to review the practices of banks that guarantee the agency's loans, according to the report. U.S. President Donald Trump in January said the CEOs of JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America did not provide banking services to conservatives. The two banks denied making banking decisions based on politics. The criticism of Wall Street banks followed accusations from congressional Republicans and Republican-led states, who claimed the institutions were engaging in "woke capitalism" and unfairly cutting ties with gun manufacturers, fossil fuel companies, and other businesses perceived to be aligned with the political right. The Trump administration is pursuing a broad reform agenda aimed at modifying rules governing financial institutions, including capital requirements, arguing that such action will boost economic growth and unleash innovation. The White House did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

Assam leads digital leap: NRL inks agreement with BSNL to host India's 1st 5G captive network
1 2 Guwahati: In a landmark move for India's digital infrastructure transforming core industries through next-generation connectivity, Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) in Golaghat district has signed an agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to deploy the country's first 5G captive non-public network (CNPN) in the industrial sector. The agreement was formalised during a workshop organized by the union finance ministry here, setting the stage for a new era of industrial digitisation in Assam and beyond. 20 years on, GDA may file FIR against officials for 134 extra flats in society
Ghaziabad: GDA will take action against several current and former officials who allowed a private developer to construct and sell 134 extra flats beyond the sanctioned 400 units at Express Garden society in Indirapuram's Vaibhav Khand in 2005. A GDA panel, set up on the direction of the Allahabad High Court, is set to submit its report to the Authority's additional secretary later this week. The high court is due to hear the matter in Sept. Officials, privy to the content of the committee's findings, said the panel has recommended "FIR be filed against the architect, developer and the then GDA officials under whose watch the additional units were constructed".
