Prediction markets reveal strong expectations for Happy Gilmore 2 in early reviews

Happy Gilmore 2 is set to debut on big — well, multi-sized — screens near you on Netflix, as the movie will feature Adam Sandler returning for the sequel to mid-90s cult classic.
Kalshi, a prediction market exchange betting platform that takes bets on real-life events, says the movie is expected to receive modest critical acclaim from Rotten Tomatoes.
At the time of writing, Kalshi has an Over/Under score on Rotten Tomatoes of 46.2 percent (Tomatometer score), although this represents a steady decrease from the original, which was released in 1996.
The market has received tons of betting action from the public, with $86,231 wagered on the reception of this movie at the time of writing.
Happy Gilmore (1996) received a 63 percent on the popular film review site.
There's also the option of going higher than those projected numbers, with a bettor potentially being more or less bullish on that rating.

Kalshi currently projects that this slapstick comedy movie will receive a rating above 90 percent from Rotten Tomatoes, meaning a $10 bet would payout $167 if the movie somehow does eclipse that lofty standard.
Sandler will be re-joined by Ben Stiller, Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald in the highly anticipated sequel.
A sequel hitting 90 percent would be a surprise, but not unprecedented. Toy Story 2 performed exceptionally well (100 percent rating) back in 1999.

There have been some major duds at the box office for sequels, with Hangover Part 2 coming in at 34 percent and Sandler-led flick Grown Ups 2 getting a horrific seven percent.
It's an honor that few movies have received in 2025, with just one comedy, baseball movie Eephus, achieving this distinction by scoring a 100 percent from the critics.

Dangbeihas been making waves in theprojectorspace for a while now, having launched the world's first officially Netflix-licensed 4K laser projectorlast year. More recently, the brand introduced theDangbei N2 mini– a portable projector that sits on the opposite end of the spectrum from its flagshipMars Pro 2, both in terms of size and price – adding an accessibly priced yet feature-rich option to its growing lineup. TheDangbei N2 miniis one of the brand's smallest projectors, weighing just under 3.8 pounds and standing about 9.5-inches tall. Yet despite its compact size, it packs a surprising amount of features and functionality, including Dangbei's proprietary, AI-poweredInstanProtechnology – the same that's found in its larger and more expensive models. Unlike Dangbei's other models, though, the N2 Mini runs on a Linux-based smart operating system rather than Google's Android TV. One likely reason for this is to avoid Google's costly licensing fees – a decision presumably to help keep the projector's price accessible. It's worth noting, however, that this doesn't come at the expense of features or functionality. Despite its simple interface, the Linux-based operating system (OS) is both easy to use and visually appealing, and it comes preloaded with officially licensed apps including Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube. These apps can also be launched with a single click, thanks to dedicated buttons on the projector's remote, and Dangbei says there are over 300 additional apps available to download onto the device – though, naturally, these don't have their own dedicated buttons on the remote. The main body of theN2 mini– the actual projector – sits on a stand that doubles up as a gimbal and offer users 190° of built-in tilt options – including ceiling projection. Simplicity is a recurring theme with the N2 and the gimbal is operated by gently pushing in the preferred direction; there's no locking mechanism, it it simply holds itself in place. TheDangbei N2 miniprojects native 1080p visuals in sizes between 40 and 120-inches, and features 200 lumens of maximum brightness. While this doesn't sound very bright on paper, it performs surprisingly well in daylight and excels in smaller rooms with lower light – think evenings and spaces with drawn curtains. Additionally, the included InstanPro technology means theminiwill automatically resize and straighten the image to give you the best view possible, while offering automatic focusing and keystone correction. Connectivity options include both Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6, with input ports consisting of one HDMI and one USB-A 2.0. There's also a 3.5mm audio output, allowing users to connect headphones or wired speakers if the built-in six-watt speakers don't cut it. Perhaps surprisingly, given its modest audio hardware, the N2 supports Dolby Audio, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus. When she finds herself bewitched by an unproblematic man, she dives deeper and deeper into a relationship that can only end badly. Sakamoto Days (2025-) Adapted from a manga of the same name, Sakamoto Days is a brilliant new anime series about a hitman who makes the choice to retire for love, only to find that he can't leave his past as far behind as he might have hoped. The contrast between the central character's quiet family life and the things he has to do to maintain it gives Sakamoto Days much of its juice, but the show's pacing is excellent. Its willingness to shift from mundane to thrillingly violent in an instant is guaranteed to keep you on your toes. You can watch Sakamoto Days on Netflix. Adolescence (2025) Adolescence was a major hit for Netflix, but if you haven't caught this four-part miniseries yet, it's certainly worth your time. The show follows the aftermath of a teenage boy's arrest for the murder of one of his classmates. Across the four episodes, we learn more about the kid, his school, his family, and the detectives investigating the crime. Although it can be a harrowing watch for anyone trying to raise kids in the world we're living in, Adolescence is also a show that dares to ask questions without easy answers and leaves you to sit with every unsettling detail. You can watch Adolescence on Netflix. Dept. Q (2025-) Anchored by a brilliant central performance from Matthew Goode, Dept. Q is one of the most heralded new series that Netflix has released this year. The show follows a detective who is coming back to work following an incident that paralyzed his partner and killed another cop. Wracked by guilt, he's tasked with solving a cold case that slowly envelopes his entire life. While the idea of obsession in detective work is not exactly new, Goode breathes new life into his character. While Dept. Q can be dark, that doesn't mean it's particularly hard to watch. You can watch Dept. Q on Netflix. Everybody's Live with John Mulaney (2025-) Netflix has largely avoided making its own version of a late-night talk show until Everybody's Live with John Mulaney. The series, while technically a late-night show, is much weirder than what you might expect from network alternatives. Mulaney is willing to experiment and willing to make his audience and his guests a little bit uncomfortable in the process. The show is wildly funny, but part of the joy of watching is the show's unpredictability, even if that means that not every moment or bit is perfect. Sirens (2025-) Another soapy, insanely fun show to make its debut on Netflix this year, Sirens follows two sisters who have taken wildly divergent paths through life as they reunite. When one discovers that the other has become the personal assistant of a hugely wealthy and slightly deranged woman, she begins to suspect that their relationship is not a healthy one. Anchored by a trio of great performances from Megahnn Fahey, Milly Alcock, and Julianne Moore, Sirens features some beautiful sets and locations and also manages to be a fairly sharp satire of a particular kind of wealthy person. You can watch Sirens on Netflix. Forever (2025-) Sometimes all you need in a compelling TV show is two young actors with remarkable chemistry. Forever has a relatively simple premise. It follows two former childhood friends who reunite as teenagers and fall heartbreakingly, desperately in love with one another. As they realize that being in love is not enough to make their lives any easier, they deal with all the heartache and yearning that comes with any first love. Forever would be nothing without its central performers, Lovie Simone and Michael Cooper Jr., who make every scene they share sing. You can watch Forever on Netflix. The Residence (2025-) Uzo Aduba has been making her bones on Netflix since the streamer first launched original comedies, and with The Residence, she finally gets the chance to lead her own show. In the series, she plays an eccentric detective called to the White House to solve a murder that occurred at a state dinner. Although the show could be too political, The Residence manages to keep a rather light tone. It's a careful and impressive balancing act. You can watch The Residence on Netflix. Apple Cider Vinegar (2025-) Based on a strange, frightening true story, Apple Cider Vinegar tells the story of two women who, in parallel, begin selling their millions of followers on alternative medicine, even as they begin to realize that what they're selling doesn't work the way they say it does. Anchored by another brilliant performance from Kaitlyn Dever, Apple Cider Vinegar is an unsettling story about the very idea of wellness and why so many people are looking for alternative remedies. With Adam Sandler, it's been a tale of two careers: the goofy comedian of his "Saturday Night Live" and early film days, and the more accomplished thespian of his later years (who can still be goofy when needed). But whether or not you prefer his more serious outings to man-child Billy Madison and hockey-loving golf savant Happy Gilmore – who returns in the sequel "Happy Gilmore 2" (streaming now on Netflix) – Sandler has enjoyed a profound evolution as an actor and performer. It's only a matter of time until he nabs an Oscar nomination (and probably should have at least one by now). Who could have imagined that back when he was singing the Hanukkah song on "SNL"? 'Happy Gilmore' (1996) The sports comedy is one of Sandler's sillier outings, playing the title hockey player who takes up pro golf to help save his beloved grandma's house. The high-profile cameos, though, are fantastic, from Bob Barker (as himself) brawling with Sandler to Carl Weathers in one of his best roles as Happy's one-handed coach. 13. 'Anger Management' (2003) In his comedy heyday, Sandler partnered with Jack Nicholson for this buddy flick, with Sandler as a dude sent to therapy after an in-flight incident and Nicholson as the doctor whose unorthodox techniques exacerbate his new patient's rage problems. On paper, it should have been better, but it's still worth watching two A-listers going at it. 12. '50 First Dates' (2004) "The Wedding Singer" might be the best Sandler/Drew Barrymore rom-com team-up but "First Dates" is the sweetest: A womanizing veterinarian (Sandler) becomes enamored with an art teacher (Barrymore) with amnesia and commits to winning her over day after day. 11. 'Airheads' (1994) Watching this gonzo music comedy 30 years ago, who could have imagined Brendan Fraser as an Oscar winner, Steve Buscemi with an Emmy and Sandler as a somewhat serious actor? 'Leo' (2023) Apologies to the "Hotel Transylvania" faithful: A 74-year-old fifth-grade pet lizard is the animated role Sandler was born to play. His title character Leo worries about his mortality and hatches an escape plan but instead makes a bunch of young friends in the delightfully weird and subtly touching musical comedy. 9. 'The Waterboy' (1998) As a great man once said, "That's some high-quality H2O!" Bullied by the football players he keeps hydrated, mother-loving Louisiana college waterboy Bobby Boucher (Sandler) finally snaps and unlocks an aggressive side that makes him a gridiron wunderkind. He can play outside linebacker for our team anytime. 8. 'The Meyerowitz Stories' (2017) Writer/director Noah Baumbach's dramedy cast Sandler and Ben Stiller as estranged half-brothers who reunite for an art retrospective for their aging sculptor dad (Dustin Hoffman). A lifetime of dysfunction and a health scare ignite a sibling rivalry that gives both Stiller and Sandler plum complex roles to play. 7. 'Spaceman' (2024) In a decidedly dramatic yet still oddball role, Sandler plays a Czech astronaut halfway through a lonely, one-man mission to investigate a cosmic purple cloud near Jupiter. Cracks form in the long-distance relationship with his wife (Carey Mulligan), and he works through his feelings by befriending a mysterious talking alien spider (Paul Dano). 6. 'You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah' (2023) Sandler takes a backseat to his real family in this delightful coming-of-age comedy. The role of devoted dad suits him well opposite wife Jackie and daughters Sadie and Sunny, the latter of whom plays a middle-schooler looking forward to her bat mitzvah and instead finds a whole heap of girl drama. 5. 'Funny People' (2009) Director Judd Apatow's darkly funny yet feel-good dramedy casts Sandler in a role he knows very well: mega-popular comedian/movie star. When he's diagnosed with a terminal disease, Sandler's character befriends a young stand-up (Seth Rogen), reconnects with the love who got away (Leslie Mann) and finds a new lease on life. 4. 'The Wedding Singer' (1998) The best of Sandler's straight-up comedies is a 1980s retro affair packed with style and cool music. A wedding singer (Sandler) hits it off with a reception waitress (Drew Barrymore) and he promises to play her wedding. Of course, they fall in love, but not without some crises of confidence, Reagan-era high jinks and old-lady rapping to make things interesting. 3. 'Hustle' (2022) Sandler marries his loves – acting and hoops – as a Philadelphia 76ers basketball scout who discovers a standout streetballer (ex-NBA player Juancho Hernangómez) in Spain and brings him to America. Both help each other out in a rousing narrative chock-full of real-life roundball stars and choice Sandler zingers. 2. 'Punch-Drunk Love' (2002) Paul Thomas Anderson's romantic dramedy is the first to really toss Sandler in the awards-season mix. The comedian earned a Golden Globe nod as a lonely plunger salesman with serious rage issues who starts dating his sister's co-worker (Emily Watson), though a phone-sex extortion scheme threatens the budding relationship. 1. 'Uncut Gems' (2019) Get ready for a two-hour anxiety-fest. Josh and Benny Safdie's intricately crafted crime thriller finds Sandler in prime form as a gambling jeweler who wants to make serious bank off a rare opal. He runs afoul of the wrong people, leading to an intensely stressful final act fueled by a close NBA playoff game.
