JBVNL steps up for safe power supply
2
Ranchi: The Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (JBVNL) has started wrapping 3,000 electric poles, located along the designated Muharram procession routes falling in densely populated and high-traffic zones, with protective plastic coverings to minimise the risk of power-related accidents.
Electrical superintending engineer with the JBVNL (Ranchi Zone), D N Sahu, said, "The step is being taken to avoid any accidental contact between participants and electric poles."
The JBVNL appealed to public and Muharram committees to follow safety protocols like limits on the height of 'tazias' and sound systems mounted on vehicles. Further, people should neither sit atop buses or tall vehicles, nor add heights by placing structures on vehicles that could violate the permissible height and risk contact with overhead power lines.
All organising committees are expected to deploy an adequate number of volunteers to prevent accidents resulting from negligence or unauthorised activity during processions. The public has also been urged not to touch or make any form of contact with electric poles, wires, or equipment.
along the route, either directly or with the help of sticks or other objects. The use of oversised or tall vehicles in the procession is also discouraged to maintain safety along the paths lined with overhead electrical infrastructure.

In this phase, candidates will be required to submit their programme and college preferences based on their CUET-UG 2025 scores. Preference-filling is expected to begin shortly after July 11 and will remain open for a few days. Candidates must complete preference submission carefully, as this data will be used for the allotment of seats in the first admission round, tentatively scheduled around mid-July. ‘In skirts or western clothes? View temple from outside': Posters at 40 MP temples ask women to follow Indian dress code; activist says 'no one can dictate to us'
JABALPUR: "If you are wearing miniskirts, jeans-tops, or Western clothes, please view the temple from outside," say posters put up outside at least 40 temples in Jabalpur city. These posters, placed by a right-wing organisation, appeal to women and young girls to dress in accordance with Indian culture when entering temples. The posters have become a topic of debate in the city. Reacting to them, advocate and women's rights activist Ranjana Kurariya said, 'What clothes we wear is our right. We can wear a saree, salwar-kurta, or anything we feel comfortable in. Deciding what to wear is our right; no one can dictate that to us — not even request it. God is for everyone, be it women or men. Seeing such posters will hurt women who visit temples.' She further questioned the very notion of Indian culture, saying, 'What is Indian culture? If we look back in time, stitched clothes weren't even worn here — they were brought in from other countries.' The posters request that visitors wear attire in line with Indian culture while entering temple premises. Those wearing short clothes, half-pants, Bermudas, miniskirts, or night suits are asked to view the temple from outside. Girls and women are also requested to cover their heads upon entering. The posters emphasise that the message should not be taken otherwise, stating that preserving Indian culture is essential. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Giao dịch CFD với công nghệ và tốc độ tốt hơn IC Markets Đăng ký Undo The Mahakal Sangh International Bajrang Dal is mentioned as the issuer. He stated that women play a leading role in religious activities and that preserving Indian culture is in their hands. He appealed to them to dress according to Indian tradition when visiting temples. The organisation behind the posters clarified that they are merely making a request to women and girls through this appeal.

Coastal villages of Vasai fear sea-water flooding; anti-erosion embankments stuck in red-tape
VASAI: Coastal villages like Bhuigaon, Arnala, Navapur, Rangaon and others are running from pillar to post just to make sure that the approved anti-erosion embankments are built up at the earliest. The coastline has suffered extensive damage , intensity of which increases during the monsoon as the water currents are more stronger. This has threatened the existence of citizens' homes, suru (Casuarina) plantations, resources of potable water and farmlands. As per the GR Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation MSRDC is supposed to construct the anti-erosion embankments but they say that they are yet to receive approvals from various government agencies. Work on a proposed coastal anti-erosion embankment at BhuiGaon Seashore, Vasai (West) is planned to be undertaken. However, the necessary CRZ (Coastal Regulation Zone) clearance for this project is yet to be obtained, said Joy Joseph Fargose, Secretary, Aam Aadmi Party, Vasai. This project is critically important for ensuring the safety of residents in the Vasai Taluka region, as the coastline and nearby villages suffer significant damage due to recurring sea surges. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Invertir en Cervecería Nacional CFD podría proporcionarte un ingreso adicional Empieza a invertir hoy Registro Undo Therefore, it is essential that the construction of the anti-erosion embankment is initiated without delay, he added. He is of the opinion that all the concerned departments should come together to solve this grave issue. Letter sent to Joy by the MSRDC on July 1 states that the CRZ permission was pending and hence the contractor wasn't given any go-ahead for the construction work. The Suruchi Baug, suru (Casuarina) plantations, has suffered major blow as several trees could be seen uprooted since they form the first line of defence. These uprooted trees either rot on the beach, or are seen as harming the tourists or are washed away in the ocean with the reverse water flow of the waves and end up harming the ocean ecology.
