FASTag users alert! You may risk blacklisting over this common mistake

The
National Highways Authority of India
has tightened its policy against the misuse of FASTags, specifically targeting what are known as "
loose FASTags
" or "tag-in-hand" practices. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways confirmed the update in an official release, ANI reported.
The new directive instructs toll collecting agencies and concessionaires to immediately report instances where FASTags are not affixed to a vehicle's windscreen. This is a deliberate act by some users that disrupts the automated
toll collection system
. NHAI has also provided a dedicated email ID for reporting such violations, enabling swift action including blacklisting or hotlisting of the reported FASTags.

The initiative comes as NHAI prepares to roll out major advancements in tolling infrastructure, including the FASTag-based
Annual Pass System
and Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling. Ensuring the proper placement and use of FASTags is seen as essential to maintaining system reliability and tolling efficiency under these upcoming frameworks.

Loose FASTags present several operational challenges. They cause lane-level congestion, trigger incorrect chargebacks, and are often misused in closed-loop systems, ultimately resulting in delays and inconvenience for other highway users.
To curb this growing issue, NHAI has asked
toll operators
to act promptly. Upon receiving a report, the agency will initiate the blacklisting process to prevent further misuse of the concerned FASTag.
Earlier in June, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister
Nitin Gadkari
announced that a FASTag-based Annual Pass priced at Rs 3,000 will be introduced on Independence Day. Valid for a year or up to 200 trips, the pass is expected to further simplify
highway travel

Alonso Reveals Newey's Impact On Aston Martin's F1 Revival Plans: 'We All Learn'

Last Updated: Fernando Alonso feels Aston Martin is learning from Adrian Newey, who joined as Managing Technical Partner, transforming the team's processes and vision for the 2026 regulations. Fernando Alonso believes Aston Martin is experiencing a learning curve under the guidance of legendary designer Adrian Newey, who joined the Silverstone-based team earlier this year as Managing Technical Partner. As Aston Martin aims to recover from a disappointing start to the 2025 Formula 1 season, Alonso has disclosed how Newey's presence is already beginning to transform the team's internal processes and long-term vision. Newey, who departed Red Bull Racing after decades of championship triumphs, began working with Aston Martin in March. Regarded as one of the greatest technical minds in F1 history, his arrival is considered a major coup for the team, which aims to become a consistent front-runner under the upcoming 2026 regulations. During the British Grand Prix weekend, Alonso shared his initial interactions with Newey and the insights he brings to the team. 'We had a couple of lunches together," Alonso was quoted by Formula as saying. 'Generally [focused on] things about the team, about the simulator, how to make things a little bit more realistic, and he has a lot of experience [of] how a top team should fight for championships and try to be on top of the game in every area." The two-time World Champion stressed that Newey's contributions extend far beyond the aerodynamics department. 'It's not only the aerodynamics. When we think about Adrian, it is all aero performance; I think Adrian has a much wider view of how the team should operate, so we all learn from him every time that we speak with him." How Will Adrian Newey Help Aston Martin? While Newey's main focus is reportedly on preparing the team for the sweeping technical changes in 2026, Alonso remains cautious about his own future in the sport beyond that point. When asked about the possibility of racing in 2027, the 43-year-old veteran was straightforward. 'No, not really. Not in my mind now." 'The decision will be made next year, I think, around summer time or before to have things clear as soon as possible. Right now, the championship is challenging this year. We didn't start as competitive as we thought, and now we want to turn the situation [around]." Alonso added, 'We want to finish the second part of 2025 as strong as possible. Then 2026, everything remains to be seen. Step by step, and [it's] impossible to think right now into 2027." Aston Martin currently sits eighth in the Constructors' Championship, level on 36 points with Racing Bulls, who hold seventh place on countback. (Reuters) The stock rose as much as 18.27 per cent to an intraday high of ₹47.07 on the NSE after the market closed, rebounding after several months of decline. The company announced that its auto business turned EBITDA positive in June 2025, citing strong gross margins driven by its vertical integration strategy. Operating cost efficiency driven by Project Lakshya Ola Electric attributed significant operational efficiencies to its cost optimisation initiative, Project Lakshya. The company said monthly auto operating expenses were reduced from ₹178 crore to ₹105 crore. 'Consolidated operating expense now stands at ₹150 crore per month, and further reduction to ₹130 crore a month is targeted through FY26,' the company said in a statement, cited by news agency PTI. Looking ahead, Ola Electric expects to sell between 3,25,000 and 3,75,000 vehicles in FY26, generating revenue between ₹4,200 crore and ₹4,700 crore. 'With Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) benefits beginning from Q2 for the Gen 3 product portfolio, gross margin is projected to rise to 35-40 per cent, and the company anticipates full-year auto EBITDA of above 5 per cent,' the statement said. The company also expects the auto business to remain EBITDA positive from Q2 onwards. Ola Electric said its Gen 3 scooters, launched recently, accounted for 80 per cent of total scooter sales in Q1. 'These scooters have not only delivered better margins but have also significantly reduced warranty claims, reflecting the company's ongoing engineering improvements,' it said. (With PTI inputs)
