BREAKING NEWS British tourist, 22, rushed to hospital after falling off boat in Magaluf and getting caught in propeller
The 22-year-old man was reportedly drinking heavily with friends on the rented boat close to the shores of Nikki Beach this afternoon when he plunged overboard and suffered multiple cuts and gashes.
He was rushed to Son Espases Hospital in the Mallorcan capital of Palma this evening and was reportedly in a serious condition, according to local newspaper Ultima Hora.
The horrific incident happened just after 5pm local time today.
The Brit tourist and his pals are understood to have rented the boat hours earlier and had spent most of the day at sea.
Lifeguards on the beach were the first to assist the injured man before Civil Guard officers and paramedics rushed to the scene.
He was stabilised before being taken to hospital.
Dozens of stunned sunbathers gathered on the packed beach and watched as he was taken away in an ambulance.
There has not yet been an official comment from the Civil Guard in Mallorca, which has launched an investigation into the incident.
Magaluf is a party destination located on the western coast of Mallorca.
The horrifying accident on the Spanish island comes after a British woman was killed in a jet ski accident on the Costa del Sol last weekend.
Debra Wright, 43, is believed to have died instantly after being hit by a speedboat which was reportedly being driven by a friend.
Grief-stricken husband Chris Wright, who is the chairman for football club Ashton Town, described her as an 'amazing woman' in an emotional tribute.
The unnamed friend was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and an alcohol-related offence after failing a breath test.
He was released without charge pending an ongoing criminal probe after appearing in court in Estepona last Sunday.
