TVK will never ally with 'divisive' BJP, says Vijay; averse to DMK as well
Addressing the party's first state executive committee meeting in Panaiyur near hear, he further said that a TVK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu will always be against both the DMK and the BJP. He said TVK is not like the DMK or the AIADMK to compromise and form an alliance with the BJP.
His statement came amid signalling, including from a section of the State unit of the BJP, that TVK would be welcome to join the AIADMK-BJP alliance to defeat the DMK.
Blaming the ruling party at the Centre for using divisive and polarising tactics to succeed in certain States, he said that such a strategy will never work in Tamil Nadu, which is deeply rooted in social justice and fraternity. He said that the BJP cannot expect to succeed in Tamil Nadu by insulting leaders like 'Periyar' EV Ramasamy or CN Annadurai.
The meeting, attended by executive committee members and district secretaries, passed many resolutions, including one naming Vijay as the party's Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming Assembly polls in 2026. The committee also empowered him to make decisions regarding alliances.

1 2 Bhubaneswar: State govt will refund money to all eligible investors who were duped by chit fund companies, said state BJP president Manmohan Samal here on Friday. He said the BJP, in its election manifesto, promised the people of Odisha to refund money lost in chit fund scams. The govt has already refunded Rs 47 crore to 1.26 lakh chit fund depositors in a year. "A list of 5 lakh investors is ready, and they will get refunds in the next four months," he added. Samal said that due to dedicated efforts of the BJP govt, eligible beneficiaries affected by chit funds scam will get their money back. He expressed gratitude to chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi for the initiative. He said that trusting the BJD govt, people had invested their hard-earned money in various chit fund companies. "Unfortunately, the BJD govt betrayed their trust. A total of 174 chit fund companies swindled the people of Odisha. Many ministers, MPs, and MLAs from the BJD were allegedly involved in misappropriating public money under the guise of chit funds," he alleged. "The BJP govt is sensitive to the plight of the affected depositors and is committed to ensuring that all eligible people get their money back," he added. Samal said a system will be put in place to ensure that depositors can get their refunds by showing minimal proof. BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty said Samal is suffering from selective amnesia. "Last month, he was telling that chit fund-related documents are missing. Now he is confidently telling the govt can refund money to all chit fund investors, which means the govt has all the documents. He is misleading the people," he added. Mohanty said the BJP govt recently said Rs 119 crore was refunded to 2.79 lakh chit fund investors between 2014 and 2024. "It proves the BJD govt was refunding the money of chit fund depositors. For the sake of opposing the BJD, Samal should not speak whatever he wants," he added.

'Try And Remove': Mallikarjun Kharge's Dare To RSS Leader Over Preamble Remark
Hyderabad (Telangana): Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday came down heavily on the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) over its pitch to reconsider the words "secular and socialist" from the Preamble of the Indian Constitution while saying that it was "all talk". He dared and challenged RSS General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and top leaders of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the centre to remove the words "secular and socialist" from the Preamble. "Days before, I heard that some RSS person said that we should remove Secular and Socialist words from the Constitution. I challenge them - be it him, their BJP, PM Modi, or Amit Shah - no one can remove those words. This is my challenge to them. Can you dare to remove it? This is all talk," Mr Kharge said while addressing the gathering at the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) meeting. The veteran leader went on to recite Article 2 (Objective) in the BJP's Constitution and rules that talk about the party's "allegiance to the Indian Constitution and the principles of socialism, secularism and democracy". He questioned the inclusion of the words "socialism and secularism" in the BJP's Constitution. "If you hate the words secularism and socialism so much, why are they mentioned in your Constitution? These people are like this only," Mr Kharge said. Earlier on June 27, Congress leader and Lok Sabha Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi attacked the RSS, saying that it doesn't want the Constitution but the Manusmriti. Intensifying his attack, Mr Gandhi said that RSS intended to violate the rights of the marginalised and the poor while enslaving them. "The mask of RSS has come off again," he added. "RSS-BJP doesn't want the Constitution. They want Manusmriti. They aim to strip the marginalised and the poor of their rights and enslave them again. Snatching a powerful weapon like the Constitution from them is their real agenda," the Congress leader posed on X. This development comes after Mr Hosabale questioned the legitimacy of including the terms "socialist" and "secular" in the Preamble of the Indian Constitution on Thursday while addressing a program on the 50th anniversary of the Emergency held at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, jointly organised by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (under the Ministry of Culture), Ambedkar International Centre. He remarked that during the Emergency, terms like "socialism" and "secular" were forcibly inserted into the Constitution -- a move that needs to be reconsidered today. He emphasised that the Emergency wasn't just a misuse of power but an attempt to crush civil liberties. Millions were imprisoned, and freedom of the press was suppressed.
