Boeing team, Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau officials arrive in Ahmedabad to inspect AI-171 crash

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], June 16 (ANI): A team from Boeing and the officials of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), on Monday, arrived in Ahmedabad to inspect the site of the Air India plane crash.
An investigation is underway to find the reasons that led to the tragic incident on June 12.
The London-bound Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft crashed into a hostel complex shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on June 12, killing 241 passengers and crew, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.
Earlier today, an expert from the UK who reached the Air India Plane Crash site in Ahmedabad to conduct an inspection, said, 'Maybe we will be able to speak later...We saw what you guys can see...It's just the same, as you can see from here.'
Meanwhile, the Additional Medical Superintendent of Ahmedabad's Civil Hospital said on Monday that the DNA sample matches in the Air India plane crash have reached 92, corresponding to 87 individuals, due to some duplication.
Speaking to the media, Dr Rajnish Patel said that 47 bodies have been dispatched to various districts so far.
'Of the bodies brought to Civil Hospital, DNA matching of 92 (body remains) is completed, of this (the number of) individuals is 87 because there is duplication. 47 bodies have been dispatched from here...Bodies have been dispatched to Kheda, Ahmedabad, Kota, Mahesana, Bharuch, Vadodara, Aravalli, Anand, Junagarh, Bhavnagar, Amreli, Mahisagar and Bhavnagar,' Dr Patel said.
Meanwhile, former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who lost his life in the crash, will be cremated in Rajkot later today with full state honours.
The Tricolour is being brought to the Civil Hospital mortuary in Ahmedabad to be draped over his mortal remains. Around 2,000 kilograms of flowers will be used to decorate the hearse van that will carry the body of the former Chief Minister.
The crash claimed 241 lives out of the 242 people onboard, which included 230 passengers and 12 crew members. The lone survivor, Vishwashkumar Ramesh, a British national of Indian origin, is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries.
At least 33 people, including residents on the ground and MBBS students, also lost their lives as the plane rammed into the doctor's hostel after the crash. (ANI)

New Delhi [India] July 4 (ANI): Two accused have been arrested in connection with an eve-teasing incident reported on June 30 at PS Nand Nagri. The accused, identified as Afnan (19) and Sameer (22), according to the police. The complaint, filed by a 15-year-old girl, alleged that on March 4, while walking near SK Garg Clothing Shop on Shani Bazaar Road, she and her friend were followed by four individuals--two on a motorcycle and two on a scooty. When confronted, the accused abused her, and one of them spat on her face before fleeing the spot. Accordingly, a case under Section 79 of the BNS and Section 12 of the POCSO Act was registered at PS Nand Nagri, and an investigation was initiated. The team conducted extensive investigations and gathered crucial leads and clues from various sources. Based on the collected evidence, one of the accused was identified and arrested. He was identified as Afnan, aged 19 years. Initially, the accused attempted to mislead the police but, during sustained interrogation, admitted to his involvement and disclosed details about his accomplices. Following his disclosure, another accused, identified as Sameer, aged 22 years, was also arrested. A scooty, used in the commission of the crime, was seized from their possession. Efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend the remaining accused. Further investigation into the case is underway. Earlier in another operation, the West District Police team of Delhi cracked a staged robbery case within 10 hours. Accused persons, namely Subhash Chand (aged 22) and Vijaypal (aged 26), have been arrested. The complainant, Subhash Chand, himself was the mastermind behind the staged robbery July 3, 2025, a call was received at PS Moti Nagar reporting a robbery of 13 lakhs. The complainant, Subhash Chand, alleged that after withdrawing 13 lakhs from the Bank, he was robbed by six unknown persons on a flyover. He further alleged that the robbers had arrived on three bikes and fled with the cash after stabbing him with a the investigation, CCTV cameras were analysed, but no suspicious bikes were seen chasing the complainant. Further inquiry revealed that the complainant's injuries appeared superficial and inconsistent with his claims of being stabbed by a knife. Upon sustained interrogation, Subhash Chand broke down and confessed to the crime. (ANI)

Mumbai: A Mumbai court on Friday issued a show cause notice to city police for not submitting an inquiry report in a criminal complaint filed against film and television producer Ekta Kapoor for allegedly disrespecting Indian soldiers in one of her web series. The probe report was to be submitted by May 9, a deadline missed by the police. The magistrate's court in Bandra had in February directed the Khar police to conduct an inquiry into the complaint against Kapoor and others under section 202 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. Besides Ekta, Pathak named her OTT platform Alt Balaji, and her parents Shobha and Jeetendra Kapoor in the complaint. As per the complaint filed through advocate Ali Kaashif Khan Deshmukh, a web series on Alt Balaji showed a military officer engaging in an "illicit sexual act" in one of its episodes. Pathak came across the episode in May 2020, the complaint said. "The accused have stooped to a cheap low and shamelessly targeted the dignity and pride of our country by depicting Indian Army military uniform in the illicit sexual act with national emblem on it," the complaint said.

Ahmedabad: The Odhav police on Friday arrested a woman, Usha Lodhi, for allegedly strangling her six-year-old daughter, Arushi, after the child refused to help her pack plastic spoons. The incident occurred at their home on Tuesday shortly after the girl returned from school. Usha works from home, packing plastic spoons. According to police inspector P N Zinzuvadiya of Odhav police station, Usha was booked under charges of murder and voluntarily causing hurt. The complaint was filed by her second husband, Amitkumar Lodhi. In his statement, Amitkumar said he married Usha after separating from his first wife. Usha had two children from her previous marriage—Arushi and a 12-year-old son, Ankit. Amitkumar's daughter from his first marriage, Anu, was also living with them. There, Arushi was declared brought dead, and the hospital informed the police. Her body was then sent for postmortem. The following day on Wednesday, Amitkumar asked his wife about what had happened. He stated in his police complaint that Usha had confessed to slapping Arushi 2-3 times after she refused to help her pack plastic spoons. In a fit of rage, she allegedly strangled the child, who lost consciousness. Usha panicked when Arushi did not wake up. After the postmortem report confirmed strangulation, Amitkumar lodged a formal complaint, leading to Usha's arrest.
