SB19 Almost Hits No. 1 With New Project, Which Earns A Great Start
SB19 Scores One of the Top Debuts on iTunes
Fridays are always crowded on iTunes. The beginning of a new tracking frame typically brings with it a flood of exciting releases, as artists rush to drop singles and full-lengths to maximize their seven-day window for streams and sales. Even with the typical weekly chaos, SB19 manages to stand out.
Simula at Wakas rises to No. 2 on the iTunes Top Albums chart in the U.S., as of the time of publishing. That positioning makes it the third-bestselling title in the country on that one platform on Friday. While iTunes doesn't account for all purchases in the U.S., it still serves as a helpful early indicator of which projects are resonating most with fans in real time, as well as which titles may perform well on the Billboard charts in a few days.
SB19 Trails Only Ghost and Final Fantasy XVI
The only new release managing to outperform SB19 on iTunes this frame is Skeletá by Ghost. The Swedish metal group's latest set bolts to No. 1, easily becoming the to-performing new release this week, at least initially.
For some time, SB19 was also beaten by the Final Fantasy XIV soundtrack. That album sat in between Ghost and the Filipino musical troupe for a while, after slipping from No. 1. That's not the case as of the time of writing, as it declines to third place, while the boy band advances.
Elsewhere on the ranking, other notable arrivals include new efforts from Machine Head, Coco Jones, Shaboozey, and the 2024 Broadway cast recording of Gypsy.
SB19's First Single From the EP Is Already a Chart-Topper
Before Simula at Wakas arrived in full, SB19 pushed one tune from the project to one of Billboard's rosters. The EP's first single, 'Dam,' rose to No. 1 on the World Digital Song Sales chart earlier this year. It became the band's first champion on that tally, which is often dominated by international stars.
The cut marked SB19's second top 10 on that list to date. The group's earlier single 'Gento' previously peaked at No. 8 two years ago. The success of both 'Dam' and the early warm welcome enjoyed by Simula at Wakas may be a sign that a new foreign boy band is about to become the hottest thing in America, changing the look and sound of what's huge in the music industry.

Queer Jams of the Week: New Music From Chappell Roan, Reneé Rapp, Demi Lovato & More
In need of some new tunes from your favorite queer artists? We've got you covered. Billboard Pride is proud to present the latest edition of Queer Jams of the Week, our roundup of some of the best new music releases from LGBTQ+ artists. From Chappell Roan's long-awaited new(ish) ballad to Reneé Rapp's rowdy new album, check out just a few of our favorite releases from this week below: More from Billboard Best Festival Gear: What to Buy for Lollapalooza & Other Concerts This Summer WWE SummerSlam 2025: How to Watch the Two-Night Pro Wrestling Event Live Online Wrangler Goes All-Terrain With Latest Apparel Collection Backed by Country Star Tucker Wetmore Chappell Roan, 'The Subway' After more than a year of patience from fans, Chappell Roan is finally ready to offer them a ride on 'The Subway.' The plaintive ballad paints a vivid picture of Roan mid-heartbreak, as she recounts the mundane tale of seeing an ex on the train and going into a full-blown spiral of Big Feelings™. It's easy to see why fans have wanted a full studio version of the song — the dreamy guitars end up pairing perfectly with Roan's ethereal vocal, as she pines for the day her former flame becomes 'just another girl on the subway.' Reneé Rapp, Bite Me Reneé Rapp is ready for a switch-up. Where her excellent 2023 album Snow Angel saw the singer getting vulnerable about the hard realities surrounding her, Bite Me, her raucous new album, sees her disengaging from the hardships and opting to have fun instead. Over pop, rock, and R&B-tinged tracks, Rapp revels in sex ('Kiss It, Kiss It'), parties ('Good Girl'), and petty breakups ('That's So Funny'), all while giving some of her best vocal performances to date. The pathos and angst from Snow Angel is still present throughout, but as Rapp herself sings in the back half of the album: 'If I can't be happy, then at least I'm hot.' Demi Lovato, 'Fast' Everyone, please welcome back Demi Lovato, Pop Star. After zigging and zagging into adult contemporary and hard rock on her last few albums, the singer steps firmly back into the pop space with 'Fast,' their new dance-fueled banger. Plinking synths litter the background of the new track, alongside a beat that slowly ratchets up until bursting into an electric symphony on the chorus. But as usual, the standout on 'Fast' is Lovato's inimitable voice, as she flexes the power and versatility of her own instrument throughout this delirious new single. Slayyyter, 'Beat Up Chanel$' If Lovato's new song hasn't quite slaked your need for a high-octane new club track, then Slayyyter's should get the job done. Over a crunchy industrial beat, Slayyyter works her way through a nightlife scene packed with 'sex, money, drugs, chains on my chest, vintage Celine' and just about everything else you can hope to encounter. But she's not interested in the opulence of the scene, as suggested in both the lyrics and grimy production — Slayyyter's on a mission to find the filthy underbelly of the club. And with a track like 'Beat Up Chanel$,' she's sure to find it. Debby Friday, The Starrr of the Queen of Life After spending much of her career sowing chaos into dance tracks, Debby Friday is having an introspective moment. The Starrr of the Queen of Life finds the underground dance star still firmly situated in the club, but this time she's ready to tackle some more existential questions about her personal life ('Alberta') and about life itself ('Arcadia'), all while still providing some of her most fascinating production to date. Adam Lambert, 'Heaven on Their Minds' (Jesus Christ Superstar cover) Leave it to Adam Lambert to make a 55-year-old rock opera song sound new and vital again. Ahead of his performance this weekend in the Hollywood Bowl production of Jesus Christ Superstar alongside Cynthia Erivo, Lambert shared his rendition of the show's opening number 'Heaven on Their Minds,' letting his stratospheric voice go as far as it can. You can also hear his acting in the role of Judas throughout, as the performer brings a sense of desperation and panic to this rollicking new rendition. Chappell Roan's New Single Instantly Hits No. 1
Chappell Roan has a history of performing songs and teasing them to her massive fanbase for months, if not years, before they are properly released. It's a strategy that has worked for her in the past, and she's stuck with it. To promote her brand new cut 'The Subway,' she leaned into this approach once again, much to the delight of her diehard followers. Fans of the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter are already familiar with the tune, but the rest of the world is just now waking up to the latest single from the current holder of the Best New Artist Grammy. Anticipation was clearly extremely high, as 'The Subway' is already a bestselling smash. 'The Subway' Leads New Releases on iTunes Friday (August 1) marks the beginning of a new tracking week in the music industry, and 'The Subway' is the most exciting release this frame. Roan dominates iTunes rankings in a number of countries, including the United States, where 'The Subway' rides the rails all the way to No. 1. Demi Lovato, Forrest Frank and Zach Top At the time of writing, Roan scores one of only two new arrivals inside the top 10 on the iTunes Top Songs chart in the U.S. 'Chevy Silverado' by Bailey Zimmerman opens at No. 4, while new cuts from musicians like Zach Top, Forrest Frank, Russell Dickerson, and Demi Lovato sit just a few spaces beneath the highest tier. Any, or all, of those songs could climb into the top 10 in the coming hours or days. A Fan Favorite Finally Gets Released Roan has been performing 'The Subway' for more than a year now, and she played it at several high-profile events, including the Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City. Many fans had demanded a studio version of the tune, and Roan eventually acquiesced. According to more than one interview, the singer felt that 'The Subway' actually works better live, so she had some hesitation when it came to sharing it as a proper single. What Comes Next for Chappell Roan? 'The Subway' marks Roan's second new single of 2025. Back in March, she delivered 'The Giver,' another track she'd performed live well before officially releasing it. That tune brought Roan back to the top 10 on the Hot 100, where it peaked at No. 5. 'The Subway' joins both 'The Giver' and 'Good Luck, Babe!' as standalone tunes, as none of them have been formally connected to an upcoming full-length. There is a good chance all three will be featured on Roan's highly-anticipated sophomore album, though there's no date for such a project just yet.

Zach Bryan's New Single Launches Inside The Top 10 On Multiple Charts
Zach Bryan has released more than half a dozen singles in 2025 alone, and it's not yet clear how many of them will be included on his upcoming project. What is apparent is that his latest single, "Madeline,' a duet with relatively unknown musician Gabriella Rose, is another quick smash for the singer-songwriter, one that returns him to the highest tiers on several Billboard rankings. 'Madeline' Opens Inside the Top 10 "Madeline" launches on more than half a dozen tallies in the United States this week. The tune opens inside the top 10 on three of them, thanks primarily to its quick popularity on streaming platforms. Bryan's duet with Rose opens highest, at No. 8, on the Hot Rock Songs chart. It comes in just one spot beneath that slot on the Rock Streaming Songs list, and at No. 10 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs tally. A Milestone New Smash Bryan earns his milestone thirtieth top 10 hit on the Hot Rock Songs chart as "Madeline" debuts. He only needs one more win within the same region on the Rock Streaming Songs list to reach the same landmark there as well. Meanwhile, the newly-shared collaboration marks his twenty-sixth top 10 smash on Billboard's ranking of the most consumed rock and alternative tracks in the nation. Zach Bryan's Many, Many Rock Hits When looking at his total number of placements on these three lists, there's a greater variation when compared to his top 10 successes. Bryan has now scored 47 hits on the Rock Streaming Songs ranking, while he's up to 80 on the Hot Rock Songs list, and two more on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs tally. Zach Bryan Almost Reaches the Country Top 10 "Madeline" comes close to the top 10 on a trio of country rankings, but doesn't perform quite as well as it does on the rock-leaning charts. The track misses the highest tier on the Hot Country Songs, Country Streaming Songs, and Country Digital Song Sales lists by just a few spaces. The tune also opens at No. 62 on the Hot 100, where Bryan is quickly approaching 50 placements. With Heaven on Top It appears that "Madeline" will be included on With Heaven on Top, Bryan's forthcoming project. Originally marketed as an EP, it now appears the singer-songwriter and Grammy winner may turn it into a full-length effort. At the moment, With Heaven on Top is scheduled to be released on January 9, 2026.
